Lycra running leggings that don’t fall down.

Spiderwitheoneeye · 26/10/2025 01:28

Ive bought so many running leggings over the years, in so many sizes and price points but none seem to stay up, bar one pair from the Asda sale which are now virtually threadbare.

Any recommendations please?

This is very odd, I run in leggings all the time and never had a pair fall down. How loose are you buying them?!

ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird · 26/10/2025 06:26

I run in leggings and have almost never had an issue with them falling down. I'm wondering whether you have a body shape that makes them unsuitable for you. On the rare occasions that I have had a problem, I think it might have been something to do with them being a little too tight around my (quite chunky) lower legs (or possibly my thighs). That seemed to create a drag effect which even a well-fitting waist couldn't deal with.

Whodrankmytea · 26/10/2025 07:07

I love my Sweaty Betty leggings which I bought in the sale. I also love them because they have pockets!

moggerhanger · 26/10/2025 07:09

Sturdy By Design are great.

Everything0Everywhere · 26/10/2025 07:20

I was going to suggest Tikiboo as they have great running leggings with a drawstring so ensure they don't fall down. Then I thought I'd take a look at their website but it seems as though they have gone out of business 😱
So, no suggestions from me but I am with you OP, I also need new places to buy from!

HellsBells13 · 26/10/2025 07:27

Are you quite flat hipped with little waist to hip definition? Perhaps mens?

wonderingwhatsnext · 26/10/2025 07:30

I find mine fall down if I put my phone in the pocket? Bought a little running belt for it instead. Also M&S good move leggings have string in the top which keeps them in place whatever I put in the pocket.

frogspawn15 · 26/10/2025 07:35

I have quite big muscular legs (thighs and calf) and a proportionately smaller waist. Leggings (in fact any trousers) are always too big on the waist and too tight on the legs. I get the drag effect mentioned by @ProfoundlyPeculiarAndWeird. I have a couple of Sturdy By Design that fit well, mainly because they have a drawstring to keep them up. I also try to size up (ensuring there is a drawstring) to avoid the drag effect.

Sweaty Betty. Ive got 5 pairs. They're the only leggings I'll ever wear. I put them through intense abuse and they never fall or roll down, are thick enough to hide cellulite and so on, and wash really well.
They're pricey (£88) but last for years.

martha79 · 26/10/2025 07:37

I get this too (big hips/ thighs and smaller waist) - I find a higher waist band helps. I run in some Locket Loves actives that I've had for years. Also Llama Leisure work, and some Decathlon ones with drawstrings (these are amazing for winter https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/kiprun-warm-rain-women-s-warm-water-repellent-running-tights-black/_/R-p-336821?mc=8664406)

Jackdog39 · 26/10/2025 07:40

I’ve had a similar experience — if you have a smaller waist compared to your hips (like many women do), you really need a tight grip and a high rise to stop that slow drag. I recommend the Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity leggings. They’re pricey, but honestly tough as old boots! I did manage to tear a couple of holes in the knees after a tumble, but I still wore them. You can find loads on Vinted for around £25 — I got my last pair there and was thrilled to find so many bargains.

This. I have a pair of leggings that are slightly too small and as a result I constantly end up pulling them up

I like decathlon/kalenji running trousers, or I've actually got a good pair from m&s at the moment too. I don't rate the Llama leisure ones other than as cosy slouching around the house leggings.

Nonameagain31 · 26/10/2025 07:49

My Nike ones all have draw strings, so you this would sort it for you.

I have to admit to not being a huge runner but I do have some 3/4 running trousers and they are compression could look at that too?

maxybrown · 26/10/2025 08:01

I've been varying sizes over the last 7 years of running and never had this.

Brands I've used

Locket Loves (although would never buy again now on principle)
Sturdy By Design
Bimble and Bolt

And the two I use now

Sweaty Betty Zero Gravity - every pair bought at outlet or in the sale. These are my absolute favourites ever and they do 7/8 length which is great for me at just under 5ft they are full length. They also have light compression which is also perfect for me

And I wear the shorts (occasionally when I am feeling very brave) and the cropped of

Happystride

Bimble and Bolt are similar to Sweaty Betty but nowhere near as comfortable around the waist.

I can wear my phone in the side pockets and also water soft flasks in the pockets and they do not budge. Run with a friend who has also changed shape a lot over the years we have been running and same for her.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 26/10/2025 08:02

I love my Decathlon leggings but like a PP, if you run with your phone in the leg pocket then that side does tend to feel like it's falling down as it's so weighted down IYSWIM.

I've also got some from Amazon, had no idea what they'd be like but they're high waisted, tight and don't move at all one they're on.

maxybrown · 26/10/2025 08:03

Oh I've also used Llama Leisure and sprinkles and stardust but they are the buttery soft type and have fallen down a bit. Also not compression enough for me

Taviton · 26/10/2025 08:05

I struggled with leggings falling down too and I recommend bimble and bolt - never had issues with their leggings falling down

Silverbirchleaf · 26/10/2025 08:05

I find the only ones that fit are high waisted ones. I got some from adidas.

I have winter running leggings from Acai, from a few years ago and still in great condition. And enduro running leggings from Bam, also from a few years ago. Never had either fall down.

JollyHostess101 · 26/10/2025 08:16

Flanci all the way!!

Second the Zero Gravity by Sweaty Betty.
I only buy in the sale section of the site as they are expensive but they don’t fall down.
I do not have slim hips (far from!) so I don’t think leggings falling down is a body shape issue.

I’ve often wondered if I have a strange body shape for this (pear-shape)- it’s always been a problem with tights too, ending up with a saggy crotch 😆. I’ve discovered late in life to wear a pair of granny pants over the top to keep them from sliding…obv doing this with Lycra leggings wouldn’t be the best look!
