Heated brush recommendations

rolandsrat · 22/10/2025 21:49

I'd like a heated brush. I have shoulder length hair that just needs to look a bit better with a heated brush rather than my rubbish attempts with my hairdryer.

I had a babylis big hair. I like it but my hair catches in it. I think the brush is too big. The GHD one (it's glide or rise I think it's called) looks good. It it's £££.

Revlon one step is what you need

cinnamonbunlover · 22/10/2025 22:16

One step is amazing

rolandsrat · 23/10/2025 05:55

Thank you. Is the brush manageable in this one? Not too big?

Nope, pretty lightweight, it glides through my just below shoulder length easily and gives amazing volume.

Summerhillsquare · 23/10/2025 06:52

I have the John Lewis 30 quid one. Has a harder tighter brush and a soft bristle one, 3 temperature settings, v lightweight and come with a little zip bag for travel. I love it.

It looks huge but it’s a doddle am I am crap with hair. I’ve had one since 2020

leaves hair soft and silky and with volume. Cannot get it to curl hair. Will buy a hot brush from revamp for a curl.

Also have the big hair which I cannot use!

Myblueclematis · 23/10/2025 08:30

I have Revlon One Step and I use it after I've blow dried my hair (shortish bob). It gives lots more volume and also smooths the hair.

If it stopped working tomorrow, I'd go and get another one. I love it.

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/10/2025 08:35

I ditched my babyliss for a revlon one step because everyone raved about it. I think it’s terrible! Cord too short, barrel too big, and too heavy to hold for long periods. I got another babyliss in the end

Crojo · 23/10/2025 09:06

My DD has the GHD glide, it’s very good, but it straightens and smooths rather than add volume and it’s for use on dry hair rather than a blow dry brush, so it depends on what you need.

Girlintheframe · 23/10/2025 09:12

I have the shark one and I love it! Can use it wet to dry or just dry. I’m terrible at styling hair but this I can actually use and make a decent job of!

I had the flex style with the round brush but sold it as the brush was really stiff and split my hair. Is the brush on this one softer?

The bristle are soft but it also has kind of plates which help tame your hair. My hair is very fine and I’ve never had any problems with it. I think there is a newer version however. Mine is called a hot brush and smoothing comb.

user593 · 23/10/2025 20:27

The Amika hot brushes are good. I had the Babyliss but didn’t get on with it.

Hopingimworryingovernothing · 23/10/2025 20:31

Shark smooth style. Best money I have ever spent I think

Mumof2wifeof1crazytimes · 23/10/2025 20:46

I have fine hair just above my shoulders and I used the Ghd rise. Best hot brush I have used and I have tried loads including the airwrap and babyliss big hair brush. Worth the investment.

IcedPurple · 23/10/2025 20:56

I used to use the Babyliss Big Hair, which I like, but have now largely replaced it wtih this.

It doesn't rotate but it I find it does a good job of styling my very fine, just above shoulder length hair. There are two brush sizes and a clip on hairdryer. I almost always use the smaller brush attachment, but those with longer thicker hair would likely prefer the larger size.

Barney16 · 23/10/2025 21:04

Revlon one step. It's brilliant. I blow dry until my hair is nearly dry then use it. Makes my hair very bouncy. I have fine hair and it makes a real difference.

Bluebluetuesday · 23/10/2025 21:28

I use the Revlon too, it's fab. I have loads of hair, shoulder length. I let it dry in a towel, then it takes 7 minutes to completely dry and style (yes I timed it, yes I'm sad!).

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 23/10/2025 21:50

So many people love the Revlon one but I found it very heavy and the controls aren’t in a very ‘user-friendly’ position.

Love mine. Exactly as you say though. Makes it smooth and swishy rather than extra volume. I prefer that though. Not really after extra volume.

TalulahJP · 23/10/2025 21:57

I was considering the cheapo Asda hot brush. Has anyone got any experience of that? Im thinking it could just be a waste of cash but if it works….?!

I really like the amika, used the Ghd and the Babyliss rotating one and find this one the best. Can give volume or a loose curl depending how I use it. You can normally get it with 20% off if you shop about

I’ve got the GHD glide and this Revamp one is far better

Sorry to hijack your thread - I am also looking for one but with batteries or USB-rechargeble for when out and about, does such a thing even exist??
