Does anyone have a Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Bag?

Are they worth the money?

Was thinking of buying one .......

Yes, they’re quite nice, and obviously practical too but they are expensive for what they are — fabric with a bit of leather trim.
DH bought me one several years ago and I didn’t realise they were ‘a thing.’
(I think you can also get all-leather ones too. But it’s mostly the fabric/leather combo that I’ve seen around.)

Half of the year 9's at my school do!

Yes, I have mine about 20 months now. I use it as my work bag. I have it in the cream colour & its getting a bit grubby but other than that it’s still perfect. They are excellent quality bags. I also bought a compartment thing from Amazon to put in the bag which fills it out & makes it look much better.

Hoppinggreen · 19/10/2025 10:47

I have 3 and really like them, nice but not so expensive that I am worried abotu what happens to them. I use them for hand luggage on a plane, work, out and about etc etc.
The pink one is a bit grubby though

I first bought mine many years ago, and they still look good. I have 3 sizes and use the large tote most days. I find them very practical and durable.
They've no internal pockets, though.

Fairy liquid and a nail brush sorted mine!

Mine is about 5 years old and is fantastic workhorse of a bag. Still in great condition and would definitely recommend.

Notonthestairs · 19/10/2025 11:06

I use my larger Le Pliage as hand luggage and chuck them in the washing machine every now & then. They come out fine.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 19/10/2025 11:09

My older one is now about 11 years old and still looks good, but it is the dark blue colour. Useful for work, as a beach bag etc, as it folds up small is great to put in suitcases /rucksacks for travel if you need to use a different bag as your cabin bag.

I have a more recently bought cream one that’s got grubby quickly.

sannax · 19/10/2025 12:53

I use mine as a baby changing bag. It goes in the washing machine pretty often and comes out good as new

loveawineloveacrisp · 19/10/2025 13:16

I have it in cream, used it on holiday as my beach bag and carry-on luggage. Needs an organiser/insert to give it shape.

ZenNudist · 19/10/2025 13:23

They are OK to throw in luggage as a beach bag or shopping bag / carrying extra stuff. As a main bag they look very dated rather than classic.

They are still popular especially with teens. If you like them get one.

newyorkbreakfast · 19/10/2025 13:30

i received one as a gift but don’t use it much. The shoulder handle cuts in if the bag is heavy so they are not great for people who like walking around cities. As there is no internal pocket, your stuff is all over the place so phone / sunglasses could get scratched or broken. I prefer a Roka backpack although the Pliage looks chic, but the fact I don’t use it says to me practicality trumps aesthetics!

Geranium1984 · 19/10/2025 13:33

I had one about 10 years ago and they are great. But I think they're for teenagers now. I see lots of the girls walking to our local high school with them.

CoastalCalm · 19/10/2025 13:33

Mainly use mine as an overnight bag , I have all black version

Itiswhatitiss · 19/10/2025 13:38

Nope, I had a period of time about 10 yrs ago when I love these bags, bought quite few from Selfridges, only until few wears the corners had holes.
So a big no from me.
Plus the prices went up really lots since I got one.

faustina · 19/10/2025 13:56

I have a leather one which is excellent for a carry on or for an overnight or extra bag if I have to carry a lot. It's about 15 years old and still looks new despite everything I've put it through

Yep very popular with teens. My daughter has one and I can only see it as a school bag now!

TokyoSushi · 19/10/2025 14:03

They are very ‘in’ as a school bag at the moment, so bear that in mind!

They come out well on a hand wash in the machine

DanglingMod · 19/10/2025 14:18

Definitely fashionable as a school bag these days so don't know if that will mean grown ups stop using them 😉

LillianGish · 19/10/2025 14:22

I love mine - I have several in different colours with different handles. I find them hard wearing and smart without being too flashy. I'm in Paris where they are a classic item rather than a high fashion piece. It's true they don't have compartments so I tend to use mine in addition to a small crossbody bag for purse, keys and phone, or zip these things in a large pochette inside the bag. They are excellent as hand luggage when travelling.

NormaSnorks · 19/10/2025 14:28

Many years ago they were much-admired, well-made and worth the money.
I have one from 15+ years ago and it is fab, but a bit worn. I looked at replacing it, and as with everything else these days the brand and product has now been 'enshitified' i.e. cheaper materials, less hardwearing, actually SMALLER etc.

Used to be a luxury item, now a disposable school tote bag.

NeedWineNow · 19/10/2025 17:27

Yes, love mine. Have got several in various sizes and basic colours - black, cream, grey and red. I use a liner that I bought from Zara in the larger ones which also helps give them structure. I use a Kipling pochette in the smaller ones. I just put them in the washing machine and dry on the line or the airer. Mine have been used for work, travel, pool bag, gym bag, shopping, you name it. Wouldn't hesitate to get another.

crumpet · 19/10/2025 17:33

The handles are more comfortable on a herve chapellier bag, and some fun colours too. Depends what you want it for.
