Does anyone have a Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Bag?

Are they worth the money?

Was thinking of buying one .......

I love my baby ‘Energy’ cross body one.

I regretted buying the normal large Le P one in tan, because I hadn’t realised that the lining is white and therefore crap.

I’ve just bought a new black one. They’re perfect for flights or for one night away.

I’ve had mine about 8 years, it’s my main work bag so it’s had heavy use and it still looks pretty good. I just stick it through the washing machine. Get a dark colour though, the light ones do look tatty when they get old.

I do not have one, but I have just fallen deeply, deeply in love with the backpack. Thanks, OP!

I have had a few over the years! Currently have a large and medium (both black), a pink holdall and a navy backpack. Love them all!

Could someone explain the attraction? As far as I can see, when I was looking for something to replace my briefcase which would fit my laptop, and I looked at these bags in Selfridges or John Lewis, they’re made of plastic and don’t really have much that’s special. Look a bit frumpy to me … and I won’t carry a plastic handbag anyway.

I find leather totes too heavy tbh.

I really hate the word frumpy. They're bags - they are inoffensive imo and pretty versatile.

They are a lightweight tote. Mine is 18 years old and is still in good nick.
I don’t think it’s any deeper than that.

ThesophisticatedJY · 19/10/2025 21:02

I have a black tote I bought in 1990 from in flight sales on British Airways when I worked as cabin crew . I think I paid about £12 for it then . The corners are showing a bit of wear but apart from that it’s still going strong . I use it as an overnight bag and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another

plushcarpet · 19/10/2025 21:25

They’re great until the corners go and then you get holes!

Brightvoyager · 19/10/2025 21:51

I’ve got lots of bags but the ones I use most are le pliage Navy, grey and just bought a brown one. It has a bigger phone pocket compared to my other ones which are a few years old now. They’re just really simple and versatile.

Littleguggi · 19/10/2025 22:03

Had one for 1+ years and used daily, still going strong. I have the large one and brought an insert for it too. Love it but it seems to be everywhere now!

I think they're everywhere precisely for the fact that they're lightweight, hardwearing and versatile, especially compared to how heavy some leather bags are before you've even put anything in them. I also like the fact that they are foldable so easy to throw in a suitcase as an extra bag when travelling for instance.

Each to their own, as in all things, but I love mine.

loveawineloveacrisp · 20/10/2025 10:15

Am surprised there's not been more handbag snobbery on this thread. I have all sorts of designer bags, most of which are more 'high end' than this, but still love mine for all the reasons others have already said.

RabbitsEatPancakes · 20/10/2025 10:21

I have a nylon one, It's got a strap and an internal pocket. It's bright, it was cheap I used it for a couple of summers carrying stuff to work or as hand luggage travelling.

10 years later it's still in good condition and the kids use it as a swimming or overnight bag.

They're decent for the price, a classic and good for a cpsule wardrobe but nothing mind blowing.

Itiswhatitiss · 19/10/2025 13:38

Nope, I had a period of time about 10 yrs ago when I love these bags, bought quite few from Selfridges, only until few wears the corners had holes.
So a big no from me.
Plus the prices went up really lots since I got one.

If you take them back they will repair the holes for you.

AppleStrudel16 · 20/10/2025 10:37

I’ve used a longchamp exclusively since 2016. They’re the best handbag I’ve found.

Marylou2 · 20/10/2025 10:42

They're great for the same reason the much maligned Neverfull is great. Super lightweight, strong bag that you can shove all your crap in for work/uni/school/baby without any addition weight from the bag. Also easy to clean.
