Frump Fighters

i saw Frump Fighters mentioned on another thread. So thanks to that poster. I’m sorry I can’t remember who it was.
FF provide a daily outfit calendar that you can put together using things already in your wardrobe, plus buying a few extra clothes to fill in any gaps. That doesn’t need doing right away though.
The name does make me wince a bit, but I liked the concept so downloaded the free sample autumn calendar.
Im only 4 days in but I found it very interesting. I’m actually wearing all those nice things I own instead of saving them for when I go somewhere special. The calendar has taken a bit of getting used to because the clothes they use are just examples and you need to identify something that you own which will fit the brief. For example I don’t own any patterned t-shirts but I do have a short sleeve patterned casual blouse so I’ve used that instead.
Has anyone else tried Frump Fighters and how did you find it?

What happens if all you own are Primark leggings and an old sweatshirt from the 90s?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/10/2025 18:32

I wouldn’t subscribe to anything called Frump Fighters.

Horrible term, horrible concept.

Each to their own.

Both items feature on their lists but a shopping trip would be a good idea. What do you do when your one sweatshirt is in the wash?

I should have mentioned that the name was off putting in my OP. Thanks for pointing it out. Personally I would never eat ‘dirty fries’.

@drspouseI think it was you that mentioned frump fighters on the over shopping thread. I wanted to say thanks. I was hoping there might be a few others who wanted to chat about the system but it seems not. No worries.

Do the school run boobs out, obviously.

It was me. I think I've been using it for about 3 years now! I have significantly reduced my wardrobe too - and don't have as many clashing items.

Hattyinaflurry · 14/10/2025 20:16

How much is it?

drspouse · 14/10/2025 20:41

It depends what you get - you can get a month of free outfits, I have a one off purchase which gives you different outfits daily. There are always "offers" so I doubt anyone pays the price on the website.

Funnywonder · 14/10/2025 21:06

Frump Fighters? Bloody hell😳😳

narniabusiness · 20/10/2025 22:43

Sorry I didn’t see your reply @drspouse. Like you I got the free month of outfits initially, found it useful and then bought the download copy for the year. It made me realise how unbalanced my wardrobe was. I had summer dresses, some jeans and some jumpers. If I felt I had nothing to wear I would buy some more dresses or jeans or jumpers. I owned about 4 other tops, whereas there are about 20 on the list so I’ve had to do some shopping.
The UK climate is a bit colder than Texas so I’ve chosen slightly warmer versions of the tops - a long sleeve tee has become a light weight jumper for example.
It’s still early days but I have been making much better use of what’s in my wardrobe- wearing dresses at home (not just going out) and the white jeans and lace blouse that previously I would only wear in Summer.

Interesting that you say it has reduced your wardrobe. That is something I would like to achieve.

I just Googled $39 every 3 months. Awful name and too expensive. Nice ad though.

£30 one off payment for the download hard copy outfit planer

OP posts:
narniabusiness · 21/10/2025 06:23

But I’m not trying to get anyone to buy it I was trying to chat with people who already use it. I think it’s about £80 annual for the interactive app which I haven’t looked at as I use Indyx.

OP posts:
drspouse · 21/10/2025 07:13

I paid a one off payment for the app - there's an enhanced version which is annual. I think you just have to wait for an offer.

Like you I had loads of jeans so I culled those, and I actually had loads of patterned tops and no plain ones which meant nothing I had worked together.
I wear short sleeved tops in winter more now (I think my jumpers are just warmer than hers!) - that means I can wear them summer and winter so again I have fewer.
When I'm not sure what to get for an item (r.g. she wears a plaid overshirt) I browse Vinted and get something similar but cheap (I got a striped granddad collar shirt which I like wearing over t-shirts).
My office is quite warm in winter so that helps but at home I put on an extra jumper.

eekwhatnow · 21/10/2025 07:40

I might try the free version. Sounds good!

narniabusiness · 21/10/2025 08:15

I’ve not culled the jeans yet. I’m using the less basic ones instead of the Fall/Winter colour pants for now until I can get some trousers I would like to wear day to day. I don’t want to rush into buying things in case they don’t work. I’m not a plaid shirt kind of person either. The plaid shirt in the outfit guide I have has been replaced by one described as a ‘Neutral print button down’ and the illustration looks more like a gingham shirt. I’ve got an ivory broiderie anglais blouse/ shirt that I have hardly worn so I’m going to try substituting that. I have bought a chambray shirt already which goes with so much. Not an item I would have considered buying before. Like you I would have gone for something with a pattern every time. So I’ve worn it loads already. My hunt for a light neutral cardigan continues. Two have been returned already as being frumpy, to use the dreaded word.
I found choosing my three style words was very helpful too. There was a top tip on Indyx to think about what you have enjoyed wearing over the years, so you don’t get distracted by what is trending now. Once I’d done that it was easy to come up with my three words. Comparing what I owned against them made it so clear as to why I didn’t like certain things ( and should never have bought them in the first place) and why I loved others. It should be possible I hope to style the unloved things in a way that makes the outfit as a whole feel more my style. Perhaps..
As I said, still early days for me, but enjoying the more focused approach to building a wardrobe.

Could someone kindly link to the free month? I’ve searched the site but can’t find it!

How do people not know how to dress themselves?

drspouse · 21/10/2025 08:35

@narniabusiness I live in cashmere cardigans now - look out for a sale or go to Uniqlo.

Right. As if I needed an app to tell me what to wear.
