Uniqlo

Anyone shopped there before? I’m headed off on a winter trip in a few months and need some good lightweight bits. Their down coats keep being recommended to me as a good option because they’re lightweight and pack up well. Is the quality any good?

I really rate Uniqlo for practicality. I still use a 12 yo ultra light down coat tho’ now for dog walking. Their thermals well too. They do 10% cotton jeans and nice thick cotton t shirts

Their thermals etc look to be brilliant value for money! Is their sizing any good?

good quality for the price

their heattech jeggings and underwear are great.
airism period wear is the best we tried.

I really like Uniqlo stuff, their merino jumpers are amazing!

I rather dislike having to get an XXXXXXXL to accommodate my massive tits 🤣 I’m only a 12/14.

Ah, really? I’m a UK18, hoping to be a 16 by the time I go on my trip

the sizing seems to be consistent but a little on the slim side so you might need to size up.

some trousers they sell in long length but have an altering service. (great for long legged people though)

cosyblankethome · 08/10/2025 08:29

Great quality but sizing is very much on the small side.

Baninarama · 08/10/2025 08:32

Definitely ignore their charts and size up - they're a Japanese brand and made for people with smaller chests / shorter arms.

I’ve no boobs and short little arms so that’s hopefully a plus!

I really like their stuff. I got a few bits in the sale. Buttery soft leggings and some fab wide legged trousers which I love. I like that it’s not all synthetic fabric which makes me sweat.

ThisCanFuckOffToo · 08/10/2025 08:37

The sizing is tiny! Definitely go in to a shop to try it on.

It isn’t designed around curvaceous bodies but yes as pp mentioned, lovely quality and they have some fantastic colours!

MiddleAgedDread · 08/10/2025 08:39

i can never work out their sizing, my mum buys t-shirts from there because they're small enough for her (she's short and a size 6-8) but I've tried dresses and shirts on in what should have been my size and they were absolutely enormous! I've got a good pair of trackies type trousers but I often go in and can't pick anything out as it all seems to look the same and some stuff seems really expensive for basics.

Fasterthan40 · 08/10/2025 09:07

Oh they will also alter for free I think. At least in the London stores. Plus they have those fun tills where you don’t scan, it just knows what is in your basket!

ThatLadyLady · 08/10/2025 09:08

I’m actually staying near Westfield shopping centre at the weekend so I might pop in and see how their sizing works for me!

I love Uniglo and have go some really stylish pieces from them. I think their sizing is pretty consistent especially if you use their measurement chart. I'm 5ft 7 and a UK 8-10. I find that a Uniglo Small fits me perfectly in everything I've bought.

Their sizing seems to suggest an XXL or 3XL should fit me - which is about consistent with what I’d expect!

Most of my day to day wear us Uniqlo, inexpensive, good quality for the price point and washes well. I do tend to size up.

IWantedThereThereButItsGone · 08/10/2025 11:17

@ThatLadyLady you can’t seriously be asking if anyone has shopped there before? It’s a major multinational brand that’s mentioned positively on about 97% of threads here! Certainly on every single one discussing casual or smart casual or work or winter clothing.

Their clothes are contemporary, economical, utilitarian and mostly do the job required. Lots of people hesitate over ethical concerns. Many who can afford to spend more prefer their winter thermal layers to be made of wool rather than synthetic fabrics.

Community Clothing is exemplary in terms of ethics and environmentalism - so they’re a good alternative for general casual wear, though obviously more expensive. I’m not sure they carry such a range of winter outerwear, though.

I have long arms and find that most of their jumpers have sleeves that are long enough for me.

GameOfJones · 08/10/2025 11:21

I love Uniqlo and find their sizing pretty consistent to be honest. I'm a size 12 and reliably a Medium in Uniqlo sizing. My absolute favourite 3D knit v neck jumpers are from there as are my wide legged cords and jersey trousers that I always get complimented on. I find it great for decent basics.

RampantIvy · 08/10/2025 11:22

Sorry, but I disagree. I find their muted and sludgy colours deeply unflattering on me as I suit jewel colours. This is my only negative comment about Uniqlo. I wish they did more basics in jewel colours.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 08/10/2025 11:22

I was on the Uniqlo site this morning, pondering being 'influenced' 😆in to one of these gilets that popper back in to a v-neck as an under-layer. (Bit irritating that they're not a natural filling any more, but might stalk Vinted for an older one.)

Does anyone have one to give me a clue on sizing? If I'm a 10-12, I assume the M would be about right?

Hoppinggreen · 08/10/2025 11:23

I love Uniqlo, really good for the price and its one of the few places DH, me, 16 year old DS and 20 year old DD can all shop.
I have to do it online mostly unless I am in Manchester but they are opening in Leeds next year I think which will be great.
I am a 16 and the XL fits me fine and at 5ft 4 the trouser lengths are good for me too

Ive bought uniqlo for years. And yes the sizing can be small, but im a 18/20 and buy xl tops and xxl bottoms. If they are big anyway, like their airism t-shirt dresses, I get xl. Dd rates their jeans and says their socks are the best she's ever worn. Im still wearing 10 year old heatech tops.
