Uniqlo

Anyone shopped there before? I’m headed off on a winter trip in a few months and need some good lightweight bits. Their down coats keep being recommended to me as a good option because they’re lightweight and pack up well. Is the quality any good?

I really like Uniqlo stuff, their merino jumpers are amazing!

I rather dislike having to get an XXXXXXXL to accommodate my massive tits 🤣 I’m only a 12/14.

Ahhhh I was about to pop on and say I love their merino jumpers and knitted dresses and I get a Small for my size 12/34E boobs. I like them fairly fitted though. And my Uniqlo thermal top is a Medium.

But yes, @ThatLadyLady, another Uniqlo fan here.

and they have some fantastic colours!

Sorry, but I disagree. I find their muted and sludgy colours deeply unflattering on me as I suit jewel colours. This is my only negative comment about Uniqlo. I wish they did more basics in jewel colours.

Yes this is my complaint too! Ive beenshopping there for years and its very sludgy. Plus trousers are too short for me. But quality is excellent. I have 4 padded jackets/ coats,6 bags and umpteen tops

ThatLadyLady · 08/10/2025 12:14

For me I prefer a muted pallet because I think that jewel tones etc are much harder to get right!

Love Uniqlo! I love that they do good basics in a wide range of colours, and everything I've had has lasted really well

ThatLadyLady · 09/10/2025 14:50

Just went in and im an XL!!!! That was a really nice surprise lol

I wear a lot of Uniqlo.

My youngest loves the Ultra Light Down Jackets, it gets daily wear and lasts for 3 years or so. They scrunch up into a small sack so easy to carry along.

I wear their heat tech, I really like the ultra and extra warm under a handknit sweater for winter. The leggings are nice too but they've changed their sizing, I used to need a large now a medium is a bit on the loose side.

I don't care for their cashmere, it's scratchy, but their merino sweaters are nice.

If you like Uniqlo, do you have a Muji you can visit? They also have nice quality classics and the smaller Japanese sizing.

Check the online sizing, as it shows actual measurements per garment, so I'm an 18, fit XL, XXL generally, but in one item have a L and all based on measurements. Also read the comments. I rate their clothing and buy for myself and DH.

One thing I have found is the sleeve length can vary between colours.

I have this jumper in off white, so I thought I would buy the striped one as well, but the sleeves are too short - probably why it is in the sale.

Back again with another question!

the main reason I wanna Uniqlo coat is because im off to Oslo and Copenhagen early next year. I want something light enough to wear while travelling, but warm enough while I’m there!!! Anyone know what I shouls be looking for?

Layering - go for one of the vests that you can put under your current coat. Some of them clip back in to a v-neck so you can't see them - I've got one arriving from ebay today for precisely that reason, Oslo next month.

(Ordered from ebay as the old ones are feather & down, new ones are synthetic.)

I’ve got my eye on their ultra light down coats, but I don’t know if that would be too light’

I bought a heat tech vest with a built in bra - best thing I have ever bought, I am a size 14 and always buy a medium size.

Watching with interest as I'm off to look at the new one in Glasgow this weekend, never had one up here before...

Honestly I only had about two minutes in there but I was really impressed by the quality and price!

I'm looking forward to the one opening in Leeds. I have to go across the Pennines at the moment.

DeclineandFall · 10/10/2025 10:43

I buy their linen shirts for work but the quality and the sizing has dramatically decreased over the last 3 or 4 years. They are smaller in the chest and in both the overall length and the arm length. Same with their waterproof jackets- which I used to love. It's very disappointing I'd rather pay a bit more and have the quality back.

supersun23 · 10/10/2025 11:18

Great info here, would be people to link to items recommended - like the idea of the wide leg trousers!
