Looking to boost my autumn/winter wardrobe a bit with some smart casual knitwear. Need natural fibres, so high % of wool and cotton. No acrylic SHEIN shite, and no £300 Jigsaw jumpers either.

Does what I'm looking for exist for around £50-£60 an item? I'd like it to last, and have found some nice bits in & Other Stories and French Connection before, but they're a bit bland and colourless I find. I love bright block colours and classic slim fit stuff, so find the trendier shops pretty hopeless.

I have just bought 5 jumpers like this in a variety of bright colours ..... on Vinted!
All are merino/cashmere, merino or cotton/cashmere.
They haven't arrived yet but they all look to be in excellent condition 🤞🏼

The issue with the brands listed is that they are not “just a bit more” - those brands are really expensive. Sessun is a good example - their prices have really shot up in recent years. Same with Soeur. A jumper is £200 to £300. That’s really not affordable for most people and I am not sure about the quality.

sezane is a bit cheaper. have a handful of items from Sezane although not any knitwear.

Yes But good knitwear is not cheap, £160+ is actually quite reasonable for 100% natural fibers .
Another issue , most cheap cashmere is ..well just cheap. there is no point in buying one. unless you don’t mind replacing them very often and are fine with thin coarse fibers .
As for the brands mentioned , sessun is actually good quality. Merino/cashmere mix and would last for few seasons. Sezane has a couple of nice wool cardigans. But tbh they don’t suit me , my teen loves them and they still look good.

I think there is a layer of shops missing between these and the likes of Next and M and S.

White Company is really expensive. There needs to be a shop in between these.

Mint Velvet is just more polyester, at a higher price point.

Next is pretty good this year.

M&S have pure lambswool jumpers for men for £40. I don't understand why they can't do the same for women.

PickleASturgeon · 23/09/2025 20:29

@Raisedbed Superdry have some cotton jumpers around your budget.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/09/2025 20:30

They have Superdry written on them though. Even if it’s tiny.

Cos jumpers are brilliant but seem to be getting more expensive - worth spending on one if you can instead of a couple of cheaper ones.

I’ve got a couple of cashmere and a couple of alpaca blend jumpers from H&M premium - very impressed with them - had them a couple of years and worn loads & still in perfect condition. If you become an H&M member (no cost just lots of marketing emails) they often have 20% off events which makes them a brilliant price. I really rate them and they look as good as the COS jumpers I have but cost a lot less!

M&S merino jumpers are also good and only about £35 - not exciting but brilliant basics.

Muji? Cheaper than your stated budget but nice quality.

This has already been said a couple of times (sorry I can’t find the posts now) but I don’t think you’re likely to find good quality, interesting knitwear (or clothes in general) at the op’s budget without either buying second hand or stalking the sales and outlet stores. Or, if the fit works for you, menswear (less trend led so doesn’t change so fast).

The only period when I’ve routinely bought new clothes (not second hand) was from around the early/mid nineties to the banking crash. If you were young during that time then it’s understandable to think the prices and quality then were normal but they weren’t. That spell was a crazy blip.

If I didn’t want to buy second hand then at that budget, I’d buy Uniqlo and dye it a brighter colour (but in a similar shade as the stitching and trims won’t take the dye).
