No earrings is not a problem, I think you always have to leave something off i.e. a dramatic necklace, bracelet and ring (on opposite sides) is plenty along with stunning bag and shoes. I fancy buying that dress

except I have legs like upside down milk bottles and thats how I got my name

MarsLady · 02/06/2008 23:15

If you had my nail lady you would. It's not thick or artificial looking. The toes just look pretty. I'll show you next time I see you (currently I'm sporting a fetching scarlet on my toes)

zippitippitoes · 02/06/2008 23:21

MarsLady · 02/06/2008 23:23

If you were North of the River Zippi I'd treat you to my lady. (She works in Daniel Galvin don't you know and has manicured the stars)

maidamess · 02/06/2008 23:24

OOh Bushey park. Is the do in the park, in a marquee? i'll bring my night vision goggles, to see how lovely you look in your dress.

solo · 02/06/2008 23:27

Lovely frock! Bright red toe nails...sexy, sexy, sexy!

zippitippitoes · 03/06/2008 11:02

mars i am tempted to move then

i dont think its in a marquee i supposed it was in his work

apparently some people wear long dresses and some dont but he cant remember which is the more popular if either

anyway imo you have to be tall to wear a long dress

or young

This is just a suggestion but I'm sure I read somewhere that if you are not v confident re doing your make up - you could always go to a comestic counter in a department store and get made up there. Know it sounds sneaky and I have never done it (honest!)but you could either go before the day to get some ideas and buy an essential mascara or lippy etc or be brave and go along on the day, have slap put on by them then just touch up as necessary when its time to get ready! If its terrible, just wipe it all off!

I don't normally wear a lot of make up but went to a wedding on Sat and forced myself to go to the Clinque counter the week before and got some lovely eyeshadow and lipstick from a fab sales lady who wasn't pushy at all! (I'm normally terrible for getting stucked into buying products I don't like!!!)

BTW - love the dress and having been to a few work related dos for DH's work, I don't think you can go far wrong with a LBD -little black dress! Just don't fall into the trap of working yourself up re what others are wearing (been there, done that, really not worth it!) just enjoy yourself!

clumsymum · 03/06/2008 13:02

Rubbish. It's years since an event was "mostly" long dresses. Generally speaking these days cocktail length is the norm, with some women wearing long.
