Skin on neck. Mini facelift?

Healthworker · 19/09/2025 10:10

Hi all
Im 48 and have this horrible loose skin on my neck. So far I've tried microneedling. Check fillers to lift the face. Nothing makes a difference. Im wondering about a mini face lift? It's literally the skin on my neck so dont want a massive face-lift surgery. Any other ideas or thoughts?

If you avoid the sun for most of your life, you won't have many chest wrinkles.

Exactly, I don’t sunbathe. I moisturise my neck as well as my face and always use 50 spf

fuckhimintheear · 04/10/2025 15:23

To be honest OP, I think you look great. If you want to go under the knife or get an aesthetician involved then you might see some improvement, but is it really necessary? You look wonderful to me and you’re not 21 anymore (thank God, eh?)

Im 45 and I’m trying to embrace ageing and just dress better, be fitter and care for myself. You don’t need any work!!!

temproasted · 04/10/2025 21:17

Can I ask what you made to the results of cheek filler. I’m a similar age and it’s been suggested to me by an aesthetic clinic but I’m so nervous about the filler route!

I haven't avoided the sun, but the number of days my décolleté is exposed a year can be counted on one hand because of how I like to dress and how I feel the cold and I still had wrinkles on my chest from around 40.

You could try sofwave or ultracel+, they are not the same as a surgical lift but definitely have an effect on lifting, tightening and restoring a bit of 'bounce'.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 05/10/2025 20:43

I’ve recently had Profilho in my neck after losing weight and my god the difference has been amazing! It was REALLY getting me down and I’d researched assorted treatments mentioned on this thread as well. I think for me it’s been the plumping up of the skin which has smoothed out most crepey-ness. Had one treatment, another to come (4 week break) and then it should last about six months. I did look like I’d been strung by six angry bees for the first 24 hours mind.

Darner · 05/10/2025 20:45

I’m 52 and my neck looks the same. I hate it and it’s all I see when I look in the mirror.

outofofficeagain · 05/10/2025 20:49

No real advice except this is £9 on amazon and well worth it.

Interesting. I’m having the same this week. I’ve not used Profilho before.

The trouble with non surgical solutions is that they don’t last long, make little discernible difference, have to be repeated and maintained , and are very expensive. Over two or three years there will have been enough money spent to pay for a neck/face lift!

I’m 57 and I’m going for a face and neck lift for my 60th, not going to waste my money on expensive treatments that really won’t do anything for sagging skin, wrinkles can be filled or botoxed but nothing will fix skin hanging off your face and neck apart from surgery so all my money is going towards the full works.

Oh yes but so is a surgical lift. It's all about the balance of budget, downtime, results and noticeability isn't it?

But a surgical lift be far more effective and long lasting, with only one period of downtime. I’ve tried several non surgical treatments over the years, basically they’re a waste of money. Surgical treatment is the gold standard, not without risks of course, but depends whether one is happy to accept the unkindness of ageing or not.

inamo · 06/10/2025 19:08

I have many of the scars of ageing, including the dreaded turkey wrinkly neck. You get used to it and once your inner light shines, all is good. I think we are personally more conscious of imperfections than those looking at us TBH. Well that's my excuse anyway, and I'd only have plastic surgery to save my life now.

Allseeingallknowing · 06/10/2025 19:13

I think a turkey neck is the worst sign of ageing as it’s so obvious, and can’t be disguised, except with a roll neck jumper or scarf. It just screams OLD. It’s a real challenge for the beauty industry as no one has come up with an effective, non surgical treatment that shrinks and tightens this unattractive feature of ageing - yet!

Lou802 · 06/10/2025 19:22

I think you look great OP.

NotNowBernard3 · 06/10/2025 19:27

Hey OP. Nothing about you looks horrible and please don't buy into the lies that make you feel ashamed of natural ageing. As we grow older our faces and bodies will change and we can accept it and love ourselves anyway, or fight it and spend our lives feeling miserable.
We are lucky to grow older and we are still amazing - I bet your neck is the least interesting part of you to those who love and value you!

Yes surgery defo longer lasting. I've had non-surgical and been really happy with the results, but agree it's not as effective.

Allseeingallknowing · 06/10/2025 19:56

OP has a long way to go before she needs to worry about her neck!

LuffyMe · 07/10/2025 00:23

I've seen this being promoted several times over the last couple of weeks. No idea if it helps though.

Do you sleep on your side? That can cause chest wrinkles as well.

OP - you look great!

Nothankyov · 07/10/2025 00:41

@Healthworker i have to say OP your neck looks great to me. But have you looked into HIFU and ultherapy?

HIFU was ineffective. Waste of money. Ultherapy is said to be very painful, ( my salon won’t do it for this reason) and there is the risk that it can melt fat- last thing you want in an ageing face.
Some of these non surgical procedures are so expensive now. They are often a course of three or more, and need to be repeated after a year. May as well save for a face and neck lift. I really wish there was an affordable , effective non surgical procedure!

Oh gosh! I’m sorry that was your experience. I have done both before and I have loved the results. I didn’t find ultherapy painful at all. They applied a numbing cream and it’s been really great! It’s said to last 18 months so will have to wait and see how it goes!
