Victoria Starmer's Dress

Does anyone know the brand of the green dress Victoria Starmer wore at Chequers this morning? I thought it was really pretty.

Does anyone have an opinion on Melania's yellow dress with the pink bow at the front? I was trying to be charitable and understand it but can't . Loved Victoria Starmer's dress, a classic with modern undertones.

I actually liked the colour, although I'm not keen on off the shoulder styles. But I'm a big fan of bright yellow and it's one of the colours that suit me.
I thought she carried it off well.

I normally have zero interest in clothes but I thought it was so hideous I feel impelled to comment. It looked like it was made from a 1980s Plum's stretch sofa cover.

I wish I still had the figure to rock Melania's Safari chic.

Edit: Melania, no Melanie, FFS Autocarrot, she's the FLOTUS.

I thought it looked awful, like an old dressing gown - no wonder it was so reduced in price!

me too!

I caught a flash of it as she was being seated at the banquest and thought she had a bare midriff! I thought it was a bit casual for a formal banquet but that it suited her apart from the hideous clash of pink and yellow.

Mochudubh · 19/09/2025 08:50

I thought the same @godmum56, would have been better with a black belt.

I'd have liked something metallic or crystal encrusted and it would have hiked it to banquet level

I don't think size 12 and 5'8" is dumpy! Sounds gorgeous (especially as I haven't been blessed in the boob department 😏)

The comedy boobs make certain clothes look matronly and certain dress lengths make me look dumpy. Sadly, this style of dress is an example.

EasternStandard · 19/09/2025 11:04

I think you can get a nicer dress op

I'm not actually looking for a dress ATM, I just liked VS in that dress so much it made me want to wear it.

On closer inspection however, it wouldn't look good on me. The colour and pattern are perfect for me, but I am a J cup and have to buy a size 14 or bigger just to accommodate my bust. That style of dress on me would look matronly or "buxom wench at a beer festival". 😂

VS looks lovely in it though.

I wasn’t too keen on it but absolutely loved what Kate was wearing with the dark green jacket and bow.

I doubt waity Katie bought it herself….and she didn’t have to go searching the net to find something reduced!

BlueSuedePumps · 19/09/2025 12:31

VS's dress- It was an 'ok' dress but I thought it was too informal for the occasion. I don't think it did her any favours, TBH. The belt round the middle showed off her 'bit of a tummy' [albeit she's not overweight ,but like many of us has a bit of weight there] and it seemed more suitable for an informal garden party. On balance, I don't think she gets it right often. Too much reliant on red usually, which if it's signal for Labour is being overdone.

Melania- ghastly, cheap, trashy, not suitable in any way.

I can't wear that style of dress for the same reason as you, but I absolutely love it and thought VS looked great. I have copper (ginger) hair and that green works well for me.

I’ve just come on the shopping forum to see if anyone else has also asked the question. I thought she looked lovely!

neither did Mrs Starmer! ....also why would the Princess of Wales not have chosen her own dress?

Calliopespa · 19/09/2025 14:41

I liked her in it. It was a different vibe to the other two, who were both very structured, but I thought she looked relaxed and feminine.

JacknDiane · 19/09/2025 14:51

Yes, I agree with you. Thanks for your reply.

I caught a flash of it as she was being seated at the banquest and thought she had a bare midriff! I thought it was a bit casual for a formal banquet but that it suited her apart from the hideous clash of pink and yellow.

I thought it looked as though one of her suitcases didn't make it and she had to make do with what had arrived! Yellow dress, pink belt, then very green earrings. It was the sort of ensemble little girls pull out of a dress-up box!

None of the elements "spoke" to each other at all.

I also thought the hard horizonal line of the dress at her widest point made her look very wide when in fact she has a lovely figure.

But she was smiling and pleasant-looking in the photo I saw, which is ultimately more important than being immaculately attired and wearing a thunderous look.

yes she was lovely with the children when she was with Kate and Camilla. I didn't know whether the "message" of that yellow dress was that American don't "do" formal attire or what, but it wasn't her usual classy pulled together look at all.

lifeonmars100 · 19/09/2025 17:03

I loved V S dress, it really caught my eye. Melania's yellow off the shoulder number with pink belt was hideous, she usually looks good so it was quite an odd choice especially for such a formal occasion. Kate always looks good, mainly because she is so slim and it means clothes tend to hang well. Trump had gone very heavy handed on the bronzer and looked even worse than he usually does. Noticed Melania was opting for her face shielding brimmed hat and I am sure she was adding additional costs to her invoice every time he grabbed her hand.

ClaudiaNaughton · 19/09/2025 17:19

Must be a marmite dress. I thought it was ghastly.

SpigTheFish · 19/09/2025 18:01

I didnt like Melania's dress but I still thought she looked stunning. Perhaps it was chosen because yellow is the colour of the year? Maybe she wanted to stand out? The rest of her outfits were gorgeous - suited her figure and colouring. Lovely to see her smile so much with the children too.

VS's dress was ok but looked a little too casual , like a house coat.

Kate looked great as always. Oh - to be that tall and slender!

Gymbunny2025 · 19/09/2025 19:16

Wow just googled VS wearing the dress. She looks stunning in it. Funny how a dress can suit someone and the whole look is elevated. I’m not sure I would wear it although it’s a nice dress

FFS, get over yourself. They’re in their 40’s, they’ve been married for 15 years, and they've got 3 kids. I’m not a monarchist - a long way from it - but even I have to admit she’s a credit to the RF.

And in any case, I think many of her clothes are quite high-streety for a princess. She doesn't strike me as someone spending astronomical amounts on clothes and stylists, only sufficient to ensure no faux pas
