Silver dress

I saw this dress in silver in Fatface today and totally fell in love with it but Im 63 and I thought when will I ever wear this Im not a big occasion person Im more into camping and pub meet ups.
So they had a lovely silver skirt which is gorgeous and not so over the top and which I could wear for an evening out.
Any ideas how I could style the skirt so it looks quirky casual rather than dressy? Im quite slim and have waist length hair so I look young for my age and live in Glastonbury where anything goes.

Very easy, I got a local seamstress to take in my leopard skirt as the only size available was 16 and Im a 12, she did a fantastic job and charged me £18.
She created a new seam at the back and you would never have known it wasn't always there.

Thank you! I'll buy the skirt.

I have also bought the skirt. 😍

Have you seen the outfit Sara Pascoe is wearing on this week’s episode of The Great British Sewing Bee, @Gettingbysomehow? A fabulous big fluffy taupe jumper, gold trousers, and red platform sandals. It’s very cute.

Sounds great. I haven't seen it I'll have to go over and see.

I ended up going on Vinted and bagging a silver skirt because of this thread!

Eek!!…just bought the dress !…that’s winter sparkle sorted 😃❤️-thank you op !

I wore the skirt today for lunch out, it looks great! My cream jumper hasn't arrived yet so I wore a black Marks one I already had and it went really well with it.

I have that dress. It is described as gold but it is definitely silver. I like wearing it, and it’s been complimented. I couldn’t get the creases out when it arrived, though, and was nervous about ironing it.

Mumsnet is very bad for me (in a very good way). I've bought the skirt too (what have you started OP?!). I bought the 16, as out of stock in a 14, but I'm hoping as it has an elasticated waist, it won't matter too much.

It's the type of elastic that's easy to shorten yourself if you make a small hole in the inside of the waistband.
I was surprised by the popularity of this skirt tbh but now I have it, I love it.
I haven't tried to iron it. I've just shaken it out.

It's a shame you're not on commission 😆

I bought the dress too - from Clarks Village on Saturday! Thanks for the thread and the inspiration@Gettingbysomehow! I’m going to see Nick Helm in November - so will wear my silver dress with metallic trainers, a nice slouchy loose knit beige jumper, pile my hair up, nice dangly earrings and shiny eyeshadow! Can’t wait!

@Gettingbysomehow
I am coming to Glastonbury for a week on 19th September and will definitely be looking for you in that gorgeous skirt and fabulous boots!

Don't be surprised if a plump woman with a pixie crop approaches you.😉☺️

When I was little I am sure that there were competitions in the Sunday newspapers whereby it would be announced that a certain Man would be in a particular town and the first person to spot him would win a prize. Or have I read about this in a Golden Age of Crime novel!
I am sure you will look wonderful, I discovered the ability to dress however I want in Glastonbury as no-one is remotely shocked by one’s attire.

(Though the humans dressed a penis and a vagina outside the George and Pilgrim did make me look twice)😳😂

There were a pair of completely naked people shopping in the high street recently. Nobody turned a hair haha.

Must have been returning from White Spring and fancied a browse on their way back?!

We saw, who we could only describe as Timothy Claypole jogging down the High Street in his purple and gold jester outfit on Sunday. Wish I could pull that off!
