Bras for small back big cup

MightyGoldBear · 20/08/2025 17:19

so Bob measurements put me at 28gg I bought a bra in that size and couldn't breath. Even with a bra extender its too uncomfortable. So I'm thinking sister sizes would be 32ff or 30G does that sounds right?

I've looked so much my brain hurts.

Can anyone reccomend styles and brands. I hate bras digging into my armpits as I'm very narrow and petite. I have constant spillage with any bras and multiple sizes I've tried so I'm really trying to get size and style right. I like padded as I hate barely any material over the nipple area. Underwired is a must too. I'd prefer not thick big straps but that's all that seems on offer with bigger cups.

I absolutely hate bra shopping. There isn't a local bra fitting service to me for hours so unlikely to get that done anytime soon.

yes, they aren't cheap but do always have a sale, the agent proveceteur ones work for me 32E.

I don’t know if it’s the same, but another calculator by A Bra that Fits, might be worth comparing.
I’m a 32H and was fitted at Bravissimo a year ago with the Niya Lace. I just needed a dark bra for a particular dress but halfway through the day realised I couldn’t feel my bra - no achey shoulders or irritated flesh - and a nice shape, first time ever! I’ve since bought three more. Obviously everyone’s different; I’m full on bottom as they say (a euphemism if I ever heard one)! I think ABTF has links to various forums where people help you find the right shape for you.

Niya Lace Bra by Bravissimo | Navy | Plunge Bra

Discover your new favourite plunge bra! The Niya bra offers all day support and comfort and doubles as a t-shirt bra as it gives a smooth and rounded shape.

28GG sister size in a 30 back would be a 30G. If the band is too tight and uncomfortable in a 28 that's where I would start. Bravissimo is great. As another PP mentioned, their Niya bra is a great everyday bra, I have it in more than one colour. The Satine is also similar and great. However I'm mindful that I'm a bit smaller than you and also my shape similar to PP means I can only really comfortably wear plunge bras and you might be different.

dumpling123 · 20/08/2025 20:23

I have a great Elomi Morgan. Was recently measured and turns out I’m a 32jj not a 34gg! Much more comfortable

TicklishMintDuck · 20/08/2025 21:03

Have a look at the ‘body soft’ padded bras at M&S. These have been my go to since having surgery last summer.

isitmytime · 20/08/2025 21:04

Confortable bras depend on your boob shape as well. I learned that after too long. I only wear balcony style as the wires don’t come up as high to dig in.
im a 30H and my go to is bra stop for more affordable bras. It’s trial and error to find a good comfortable bra then I buy multiple of the same one

VikingLady · 20/08/2025 21:17

Another vote for Bravissimo! It saved my back.

I was a 32GG for a while, now menopausal weight gain makes me a 38 GG. I’ve lived in Freya Deco bras for years.

SheSmellsSeaShells · 20/08/2025 21:18

I’m a similar size and my every day bra is by Fantasie. Highly recommend Bravissimo for fitting if there is one near-ish to you.

Octomingo · 20/08/2025 21:48

I think a proper fitting bra can feel too tight to start with. I went from a 36b at 16 (yeah right!) To a 34C, then 34dd to 32e and finally 30ff. Each time getting closer to a better fit, as i learned more about how a bra should fit.

Bras stretch, so they should feel tight on the loosest hooks when you buy them. A really decent one holds you through the band. When I look back, my 36 and 34 used to ride up. The 32 and 30 don't. I was 32 aged 25 and, apart from pregnancy, just got to 30. I can do a 32, but it feels a bit loose.

Sports bras are a law into themselves though. Mine are v tight to get on and I think I'm going to struggle to breathe, but I can run just fine once I'm fully strapped in. I struggle more with any feeling of bounce.

NotSmallButFunSize · 20/08/2025 21:48

I am a 30ff and have recently bought a Panache 365 which is a light moulded t shirt bra with straps you can change to multiway and it's bloody brilliant. The super thin edges disappear under clothes.

I got it from Next - I ordered a whole load of styles as can buy on account and send back the useless ones and this one was the best. I got it in champagne colour and will be getting another in black

Helpmefindmysoul · 20/08/2025 21:54

I understand that if you go up a back band you go down a cup size and vice versa.
Marks and Spencer do not measure correctly, they always measured me as a 32 back band but my boobs spill out the cups.
Having a small back band and large cups makes bra searching so tedious especially when a lot of the stores which stock such bras are online.
You have my sympathies, I used to get mine from Debenhams but no such luck really anymore.

Reallyisitimportant · 20/08/2025 22:11

Have you tried it on backwards so the cups are on your back? If you can do it up and it’s not too tight that way then you need a bigger cup size. Also worth keeping in ming the colour of the bra makes a difference, black tends to be less giving for some reason, something to do with dye I think, if you can get into a bravissimo they can help. Or just go in and try different styles and sizes on if you don’t want an assistant

Helena231 · 20/08/2025 22:18

Currently wearing Panache Allure, a full cup bra. Very comfortable and I’m a 30f

Toddlerteaplease · 20/08/2025 22:18

Freya deco.

bestcatlife · 20/08/2025 22:30

Freya fancies longline. I was measured in bravissimo and they gave me this to try, I decided it was the one and I've not worn another bra in 10 years.. I've got about 20 pairs.. I'm 28F

If you’re ’really petite’ then you won’t be a 32 back.
a 30G sounds more like it. Or even a Gg if you have spillage.
im a 34k I’m super experienced in this!
I swear by the Panache Tango bra. That isn’t padded though. I’m surprised you’d want padded because they usually cause such an uplift too that could be why you’re spilling out?

Bras should be fairly tight around the back, as in they can’t move, when new, on the loosest clip x

Toddlerteaplease · 20/08/2025 22:18

Freya deco.

I 2nd this. Also have a couple of Pour Moi bras. I have the additional issue that my boobs seem to be closer together than how bras are made, as so many styles give me 4 boobs.

I seem to have to go with balcony, half cup or sports crop top to avoid 4 boobs.

HostaCentral · 20/08/2025 22:41

32HH...... I only wear balcony underwired. Full cups on me are too bulky and wide/high. Plunge are OK but give me a massive cleavage as my boobs are close together.

Bravissimo Millie is great, I have a Niya, and also recently a Scarlett.

Octomingo · 20/08/2025 22:49

For reference, I'm 5'9, size 10-12 on top, so def not petite. So if you're petite, you probably are 28 or 30 band.

Panache cleo and tango and envy (straps not great though). But I need to go up a cup in cleo.
Freya fusion are bloody great.

Debtdolly · 20/08/2025 22:56

I was measured as a 32G by BOB and I found my sister size much more comfortable. I think it does depend a lot on breast shape and general build. I don’t get on with bras with a high apex and tend to prefer a plunge because I find balcony wires too high and uncomfortable in the middle.

Bravissimo bras are great, however my current go to is the Panache Faith plunge bra

makavelicoffee · 20/08/2025 23:01

Another heavy breasted one here, I only buy Chantelle, I think their range might only go to an H cup though but I find size flexibility depending on the style and cut.

They are super supportive and give that lift that I haven’t found in any other brands.

they are expensive so I only buy in the sale, but fortunately not a popular size so they often have big cup sizes left, and I buy in each colour.

My BOB size puts me at a 36 back but it's not comfortable. The best bra for me is the Panache Tango and I wear a 38F (BOB puts me at a 36FF/G)

marriednotdead · 21/08/2025 05:03

Having a padded bra does limit your choices but you should still be able to get something comfortable.
What size and style have you tried and whereabouts are you spilling? It will definitely help if you can get to a Bravissimo as they have a good selection and can help you find something that suits you.

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 21/08/2025 07:05

Go to Bravissimo if have one local. They have measured me over the years and always get comfy bras!! Their Jenna or Alicia bra’s are the comfiest bra’s ever! I am a 36HH.

INeedNewShoes · 21/08/2025 07:35

Bravissimo do online bra fittings. Obviously not the same as trying loads on in one go but I got advice and was recommended 4 bras to try. 3 fitted perfectly.

The band size varies between brands and even different bras within a brand. I have two Freya bras that should be the same size but the band is slightly looser on one of them.

I wouldn't go up to a 32 band if you're measured as a 28 though. You won't be well supported. A good fitting band should feel snug but not dig in.

Brands I'd suggest trying are Freya and Fantasie. Panache do some larger cup bras with thinner straps which I sometimes wear for an evening out but aren't as comfortable all day. Bravissimo own brand bras are great too. I recently got this one and I absolutely love it. It's beautiful and the design means the straps don't fall down! (but only works with certain tops due to the high back).
