Bras for small back big cup

so Bob measurements put me at 28gg I bought a bra in that size and couldn't breath. Even with a bra extender its too uncomfortable. So I'm thinking sister sizes would be 32ff or 30G does that sounds right?

I've looked so much my brain hurts.

Can anyone reccomend styles and brands. I hate bras digging into my armpits as I'm very narrow and petite. I have constant spillage with any bras and multiple sizes I've tried so I'm really trying to get size and style right. I like padded as I hate barely any material over the nipple area. Underwired is a must too. I'd prefer not thick big straps but that's all that seems on offer with bigger cups.

I absolutely hate bra shopping. There isn't a local bra fitting service to me for hours so unlikely to get that done anytime soon.

I think if you’re a smaller band size they can feel very tight as you don’t have much padding over your ribs so they really feel like they’re digging in!

Recommend a bravissimo fitting. My daughter is 32JJ and they are amazing! (She's had one bad fitting when they were imo too busy and they refitted and replaced the bras I bought for free even though it was over a month since we'd bought them and they were obviously worn.)

Also she is only 6 and they've been so supportive and caring and made her feel beautiful.

Have a look at the ‘body soft’ padded bras at M&S. These have been my go to since having surgery last summer.

These are amazing. I have every colour 😀

Size 28G here and another vote for the Panache 365. I have worn the predecessor (Panache Porcelain Elan) for a decade. It's a pre-formed cup, not really padded, but good nipple coverage! And nice slim straps.

Your DD is 6 and wears a 32JJ Shock

Hope to God that's a typo!

I feel your pain, fortunately a breast reduction helped me many years ago however they have grown back. Bravissimo measured me wrong, as did m&s. Hancock and Wood are pretty good though. Also if you go up in band size you go down in cup size e.g. 28ff would be 30f or even 32e, all bras fit different depending on the shape of your boobs.

Order 30G and 32 FF in freya if you are still under 30 years old or try fantasie if you are older and post kids. Try on a few styles

Mumof1andacat · 21/08/2025 11:12

Curvy kate or poi moi bras are very good. Order online and try on at home. Brastop are good

ArtesianWater · 21/08/2025 11:50

I've had a similar experience. i would get yourself to Bravissimo and have them help you trying on the same bra in different sizes until you get the right fit. If it's too hard to get to a store then order the sizes by post and try yourself at home. Their website gives a good guide on what to look for (hooks on the largest fitting, no cups digging in, wires lie flat, etc.). You are right though - if you measure as 28GG then you should order that seize alongside 30G and 32FF. I'd also try 30FF and 30GG. Once you find the right size you will be able to stick to that brand and order plenty of different styles.

FWIW I am a 32GG and have previously measured as 28G. My favourite brands for fit are Bravissimo's own brand, Freya and Panache.

littlemissworry97 · 21/08/2025 12:58

If the band is too tight and you can't breath then you need a bigger band. You need to try on some bras. Sizes vary from brand to brand, so a 32 band on one brand might be smaller than in another.

Fancyflapjack1 · 21/08/2025 13:04

Another recommending Bravissimo if you have a shop nearby, friendly and accurate measuring service, and you can shop the brand you like best online for (slight) discounts after. I have the Elomi plunge and it’s well worth the money for comfort and fit. And that’s from someone who swore off underwired bras during covid.

PurplePieman · 21/08/2025 15:10

Try asking on the BOB facebook group - though there's often a long wait to get your post approved

Scarylett · 21/08/2025 15:15

Freya or Fantasie are my go to. I’m 30G

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/08/2025 15:50

PrimaDonna Madison bra. pricey but once you go Prima you'll never go back. I wear a 32e (formerly 30f but grew a bit)

shop around online for places that allow returns x

PrincessHoneysuckle · 21/08/2025 16:19

I like gossard bras they have small back big cup

Freda69 · 21/08/2025 16:42

You can email Pour Moi and they answer really quickly and are very helpful.

umberellaonesie · 21/08/2025 16:55

I have just gone up to a 30 H from a 30 G.
I travel 1.5/2 hours to the nearest city to buy bras. I just will not wear an ill fitting uncomfortable bra so seek specialist help to get a good fit. It is expensive but so worth it. My clothes look better and I am more comfortable.
My everyday bras under my uniform at work are molke bought with fitting support from their helpful people on the end of the email and my out of work bras are bravissimo.
Invest in a well fitting bra it will change your life

FluffyMcFluffFace · 24/08/2025 11:35

Bravissimo will be good for this. They do proper fittings and have loads of styles and sizes.

MightyGoldBear · 24/08/2025 15:45

Thank you everyone I'm going to attempt again with bravissimo. At some point I'll go and get measured but it's a bit of a trek so I'll order some and try myself for a faster solution.

I do wish bra shops had an account option for buying bras it works out so expensive to buy all the different styles and sizes to try only to return most anyway. I know next have some styles so I may try with them too.

I just wish it wasn't such an absolute ball ache. I remember thinking as a teenager if you had big boobs you had more choice 🤣 now I know just being a woman full stop is a right pain.

My daughter was measured as a 28FF at Bravissimo- she was only in her late teens. They were able to find things to fit her but it was all a compromise. We had to go to one of the big Bravissimo stores which carries lots of stock - we used to go to the London one off Oxford St but now go to Westfield Shepherd's Bush.
