I do my own too......don't find it painful.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:18

and yes, a proper Brazilian removes ALL the hair, including the outer lips and the bum crack, leaving a 'landing strip'.

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:18

you are amazing! right - i searched the archives and you kept coming up hence the question. i went for a brazilain yesterday and am really pleased with the result but they didn't take it all of the underneath if you now what i mean, all off the front apart from strip and most underneath - have i had a brazilian?

HTF can you do your own brazilians?

I shave into a rough brazilian as well as trim the erm remaining fuzz although at 34 weeks pregnant was doing it mostly from memory in the shower tonight.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:20

well, let's put it this way, a Brazilian is designed so you can wear a thong bikini bottom and see no hair.

so if there's any hair sticking out anywhere, they need to get it all off for it to be a Brazilian.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:21

well, you stand over a large mirror.

then you prop one leg up, straddling the mirror.

then you apply the wax, then the strip, then go.

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:21

ok expat you said the said the words - not all off the lips - she said that was a hollywood, but to be honest i was ready for a break!

I do my own too - I use a razor (that sounds a bit frightening doesn't it?). It's easy though - sit on the side of the bath. You don't need a mirror, you can just feel your way!

KatyMac · 28/05/2008 22:23

What/Where is the landing strip?

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:24

DA - no feel free to join in! Expat, To be fair even if i did wear a thong i don't think you could see anyhting but i feel a bit cheated, i thought it was literally all off downstairs

Bendyandtalented · 28/05/2008 22:25

Landing strip is just at the front. Underneath is hair free.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:26

a hollywood is no hair. none.

the landing strip is right where the triangle of hair should be. except it's just a vertical strip.

but - i took your advice from archived threads and took a painkiller and i love my therapist so it was fine. And I was on my period and she was great - I thought about you the whole way through - which is slightly weird as i have no idea who you are

I used to get mine done at a lovely place in London at £45 a time this was preDC when I had money and a life. Loved the clean feeling it gave you, once I can see my fanjo again may give it a go.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:28

mix a little tea tree oil with some jojoba oil if you are experiencing ingrown hairs and apply it to the area.

you can use TendSkin but it's going to sting a bit.

but i promise you won't get ingrown hairs with TendSkin.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:30

a good therapist will knock any embarrassment you have out the window.

this is their JOB and they see this all the time.

like a midwife or a doctor.

it's just bits.

pickie · 28/05/2008 22:30

What wax & strips do you use if I may ask? And for how long are you hair free? Shaving is just a day really...

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:32

my therapist uses hot wax which i think is better - it goes on like chewing gum and they just whip it off. but expat (i feel like i'm begging) if i still have hair on the lips is it not a brazilian?
