Is this the right place to post?

I think waxing is better because it leaves a smoother finish. Also, the more you do it the less painful it is.

I was thinking the other day when did hair-off become so popular? When I was 19 I would never have even considered doing this.

Apparently the natural look is now quite unacceptable it seems....

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:38

no - if i wore a string you would see no hair, it was pretty brutal. am really plaeased with it, and am glad i had it, but expat is right, therapist is key.

thanks for that, I used wax strips before but found they didnt do a thing other then tug/pull the hair, will give this a try or would you recommend having the 1st one done professionally? Finally found a salon locally that actually does them.

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:40

ALWAYS have it done professionally the first few times.

I think this groomed look is very new to the UK.

It has been around for many years in the US and, of course, in S. America.

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:41

electra - interesting, i would never have considered it at 19, have a baby 5mnths and a 2 year old, dont want any more and have lost 2 stone and want to get my life back, kind of felt this was for me to feel sexy!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:42

I've been doing this/having it done for years.

pickie · 28/05/2008 22:43

Thanks Expat, just read on the other thread that you have to be naked waist down, although being Dutch but hesitant but will give it a go I think!

Also (wonders if she should ask)how to they do the back crack then? (OMG did I really ask!)

expatinscotland · 28/05/2008 22:46

I highly doubt they'll do it naked from the waist down in the UK, though. They tend to be a lot more shy here.

How do they do the back crack?

Well, depends on who's doing it.

If you get a real Brazilian, they sort of wedge your legs apart and/or you get up on your fours and they do their thing.

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:49

they gave me a paper thong - but as expat has said on previous threads (search the archives i did) it's pointless. Without being funny they see it all and if you have a good therapist they don't give a hoot. Mine said 'right we are doing it now - what shall we talk about?' and then let me raant about 'the apprentice'! and pickie - when they are down there with your legs in the air you can't eork out where they are. and take a reallly strong painkliller, i was a bit apaced on strong co-codamol

pickie · 28/05/2008 22:50

Thank you very much. I will make an appointment tomorrow and not mull over it again! Btw it is a French salon

pickie · 28/05/2008 22:52

oh Pardon thanks for that I will raid DH painkiller box to see if he as any strong ones left

pardon · 28/05/2008 22:54

I bottled it when i went. She said we'll do your legs first and then she said let's go for it and pulled on latex gloves! But I have been going to her for years so it was fine - just think of Expat while they are ripping your pubes out - I did!

OP posts:
pickie · 28/05/2008 22:58

Lol, just raided his box and found some tramadol, well that pretty much will numb everything me thinks!

pardon · 28/05/2008 23:03

you will be fine - just leave your dignity at the door

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 07:53

When I got mine done you lay on your back first and she did the erm mound and sides then you out your legs in the air a la changing a poo nappy and she did the bum area. OK not dignified but worth it.

pickie · 29/05/2008 19:26

Booked for Saturday at 11.30, am all giggly and nervous now! She said it would take 45minutes (1st time) and to cut the hair t 1cm so it will be less painful and wear soemthing loose fitting for afterwards

Now shall I tell Dh or not?

pickie · 29/05/2008 19:27

ok! to 1cm and something instead of soemthing, can't tell I am nervous can you?

ScaryHairy · 29/05/2008 19:38

Gosh, do people actually wear knickers for this? I'm amazed that works.

The first time I went I asked "is this a knickers off job?" and the therapist said "you can keep them on if you want but I won't be able to do my best job like that." I figured if I was going to do it I might as well get it perfect, so off they came!

It did seem a bit odd when she bent down with her scissors, looked really closely at my fanjo and did some trimming, but she really has seen it all before!

Pickie - if you can pick up some tea tree cream for afterwards. It can be a bit sore for a day or so, and the cream really helps.

pickie · 29/05/2008 19:41

thanks scary, will get some tomorrow. Anything else I need to get? Am so excited.

MABS · 29/05/2008 19:43

couldn't be without my full brazilian now.love it.

Piffle · 29/05/2008 19:50

so expat, you're pregnant, located in remote Scotland... Exactly where do you pop out to in your bikini bottom thing?

Piffle =Superfuzzy and proud!!!!

expatinscotland · 30/05/2008 15:53

Our bedroom is a lively place, Piffle!

cariboo · 30/05/2008 15:54

LOL!

pickie · 31/05/2008 12:32

All done, didnt find it painful at all. They used hot wax, bit like candle wax and they smear it on, let it dry and pull it off. Apparently it removes the whole hair folicle as opposed to breaking the hair.

Glad I did it thanks Expat and Pardon!
