The skirt is too hide your lady garden if you can't be arsed pruning it. Or if you get a nice stubbley rash there.

I was looking at it too...wanting a new suit for lap swimming which doesnt disintegrate or pull down when I push off too vigourously (don't want to put anyone off their stroke!)
But then I remembered I'd picked up a perfectly OK plain one in Asda which may dissolve after a year but cost £4. You can get a lot of Asda suits for the price of a Lands End one.

check out this 'skirtini'

Dear God, just looked at the price.
I'd want an evening dress for £79.

nickytwotimes · 27/05/2008 19:47

Must say, I am enjoying this Lands End thingy. Never seen it before.

wonder who their target customer is?

GrimmaTheNome · 27/05/2008 19:49

I am 47 but like messing about on beaches so probably me

As to being Puritan... Its a US company, I rather think New England so that is probably exactly right!

Buda · 27/05/2008 19:51

I know someone who wears swimsuits with skirts. And she has a nice figure. I don't get it. She is American.

nickytwotimes · 27/05/2008 19:52

Ah, New England. Love the architecture / interiors. yes, swim suits with skirts would look right there actually.

Anna8888 · 27/05/2008 19:54

Oh really.

You must be so bored Cod. Come for a spot of shopping in Paris - it'll be so much more fun

cmotdibbler · 27/05/2008 19:58

I'm 35 and have bought all my swimwear (apart from maternity) from there for a few years. I have the sport tankini, that Cod undoubtedly hates but its comfortable, respectable (important with a 2 year old that likes me to climb in and out of the pool a lot, sit on the edge and kick my legs etc), and covers all the area from just above my bust to below crotch that no one else needs to see.
Its excellent quality and seems to be cut based on the shape of real women of each size.

If I was a member of the lounging around on the beach/side of pool fraternity I might buy a skirtini

I might drink martini in my skirtini.

ahundredtimes · 27/05/2008 20:04

With roller skates.

Actually, I think that's why American's like them. They look cheerleader skirts.

[nods]

MsDemeanor · 27/05/2008 20:08

There are some terrifying shoes (some with 'toe-bumpers', and an abundance of elastic waists. And mysterious fabrics - boiled wool (mmm...tempting), and I see the skirtini includes 'attached modesty briefs'.
It's another world.

ivykaty44 · 27/05/2008 20:13

OMG my dad gets loads a clothes from them - they hem trousers at 37" inside leg. But he is nearly 70 whats going on? There clothes are expensive and sensible. Unless you can get them in the clearence section then you need to be a 6 or 18 to grab a bargin

No19 · 27/05/2008 20:18

Ere gerroff.

My mum has one of the Tugless suits and she LOVES it because ... she never has to tug it. Now the skirt thing would be a bit girly for her I admit.

AND I always read her Land's End catalogue AND I always read those little catalogues that slip out of her Torygraph with marvellous garden kneelers and heat cushions and metal bird silhouettes on prongs to stand in your flowerbeds, AND I always end up wanting a lot of the stuff.

So there!

Try going to Stow on the Wold - it has all sorts of shops selling all those bird things and milk bottle catchers with wrought iron milk jug holders.
