Hello, I have this Dress & it's just perfect for me in every way.
I have major body issues & I never feel like I look nice in anything, but this dress, I did.

I wore a Cream Cardigan with it, it has a frill pattern along the edge that matches the detail round the neckline.

The problem : I had one specific event to wear the dress to (which I did) & the next one is in October so I'm worried that I may need more warmth.

I contacted a Dress alteration service & she quoted £150 to add sleeves to my dress (I can't afford that)

So : I'm looking for the exact same dress with sleeves Grin no more than £30 ideally.

Or something very, very similar, has to be a dark colour for this event. Black (I don't like Black but I will go with it) Navy, possibly Burgundy/Emerald Green type colour. Very little/no pattern. Knee length.

Size 16.

Yes, Comefromaway I meant long sleeves. I wore it with a cardigan & was still a little cold on my arms.

Or it doesn't have to be a cardigan. It could be a wrap, pashmina, poncho...

If you like the dress and it makes you feel good, wear it!

MadKittenWoman · 10/07/2025 13:59

You can get black mesh ‘sleeves’ on amazon to wear underneath.

GiveMeEverything · 10/07/2025 14:21

KassandraOfSparta Cardigans are like my comfort thing. I need a snuggly cardigan as it's not a 'happy' occasion.

Oh can you, MadKittenWoman? Thank you, I'll have a look.

There was a woman on another thread the other day who recommended City Chic Romance dress, said it was absolutely perfect dress on her and she bought a few of them as they were so flattering.

It has a similar enough shape and long sleeves. It appears to be sold out but the brand might have similar styles if you have a look.

What about a blazer? H&M have some great ones for under £40, lots of colours and styles.
This is a very formal look but I think blazers can be as smart or casual as you like depending on how you style them.

Answeringaquestiontonight · 10/07/2025 18:22

Thick tights and a warmer cardigan?

Answeringaquestiontonight · 10/07/2025 18:24

Maybe a sleeveless thermal vest if there’s room for something underneath and you can find a suitable neckline. Might be overkill in October, but would be warm.

GiveMeEverything · 10/07/2025 18:59

Thank you Undethetree but blazers just look all wrong on me!

Answeringaquestiontonight I'd rather stick to the same cardigan if I can, if I'm going with the Navy dress as it matches perfectly & I know that it fits etc.

Thank you 3luckystars I'll have a look.

There's not really anything that caught my eye on citychic, but I'll keep them in mind as I hadn't heard of them.

I found this top & I like the frill on the sleeves. I'd have to buy it to see if I could hide the neckline under the 'V' but I'm pretty sure it would be fine.

I really like that dress OP! V neck with puff sleeves is one of my favourite styles. New look, nobodies child, and apricot worth a look.

Know you said its your arms that get cold but honestly if you are wearing a cardigan as well you will really feel a difference with a thermal tshirt under, I have one from Uniqlo with a scoop neck that doesn't get shown when I wear a V neck. I was amazed how much warmer I felt wearing one.

I hate oshare this, as it's Shein, but these look a good match.

I love the pattern anon2022anon But it's too much of a 'V' neck & too short.

Thank you LivingDeadGirlUK One of the things that I love about it is that it's a V neck but not a low one. I might look into a vest, thank you for the idea. I was just looking at shrugs but most of them are strangely high necked.

I have discounted the Green one that I posted. I love it but it's just too patterned for the day.

Thank you WTDress I like the front but the back is wrong. On the 'Similar to this' part, they did have this one which I like but it's possibly a bit casual (I love the Purple colour but they also have Navy)

I'll keep it in the back of my mind as a maybe.

Thank you Hoolahoophop That's pretty. Is it quite low cut? I might get that for another occasion but I'm not sure that it's right for this one.

I thought those were rows of sparkles down the top, is it see-through?

Oliver Boden had a similar dress with longer sleeves last year. You might have luck on eBay?

DaisyYellowGold · 11/07/2025 15:50

If blazers don’t suit you, how about a little cropped jacket like this?

DaisyYellowGold That's lovely! I really like that, That's definitely my sort of thing. I probably wouldn't wear it with this dress though.

Anydreamwilldo2 I'm keeping an eye on eBay.

Ilovemyshed Thank you but I don't think that would look right with the dress & I'm happy with my cardigan for over the top.

You can buy "sleeves" to wear under a dress - I have a few pairs - google armwear. There are plenty on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/armwear-top/s?k=armwear+top

Edited

I didn't find it low cut, gave me enough coverage and I'm short and short waisted and large chested so most things end up looking low cut in me!

It has a brodarie type section so they are tiny holes. I worried it would expose but with a flesh colored T-shirt bra on underneath it didn't really look at all open. I was surprised how well it looked on.
