Bikini or cossie for a large chested 14 year old

As the title says really. She is a curvy size 12 so needs some fuller coverage on the bum too. Boobs I think are a D (bigger than mine have ever been!). I tried some from Superdry and the one with a decent sized bum half wasn't big enough for the boobs. A size up wouldn't work though as then it wouldn't fit through the back.

She also needs something to hold her in, because she isn't a dainty, posing round the beach type - more a leaping, running, jumping all over the place (as she should be!)

I need urgent help as running out of time till holiday and last year's definitely won't fit!!

Try ASOS click on swimwear then filter and under body fit choose fuller bust, some are minuscule and inappropriate for a 14 year old but there might be something that works.

People will suggest bra sized swimwear from somewhere like bravissimo but my daughter calls them Grandma swimsuits. They’re not for the youngsters even though they’d hold everything in.

jampickles · 09/07/2025 09:38

Try looking at cup sized swimwear from Pour Moi, Freya or even Boux Avenue (maybe less covering but my slightly older teen daughter likes the styles better as a little younger than the others I mention) . There should be some in sale/outlet on the manufacturers website. I find Bravisimo good for choice/ when I am happy to buy full price but they don’t have good sales.

GreenSmithing · 09/07/2025 09:39

They're not particularly fashion forward, but Landsend tugless, are as they say tugless and stay in place.

Something like this in D cup? Other colours and styles are available

Thatwaskindoffun · 09/07/2025 09:39

Boux Avenue might have something suitable and Next do a range for fuller busts too.

meganorks · 09/07/2025 09:59

Thanks for the suggestions. She isn't really your typical teen with firm ideas on what she will or won't wear - she leaves it all to me to decide. So I have to watch I don't dress her as a middle-aged lady!
The 'd' is just a guess, so not sure I have time to find a proper fitted bikini. I will check out the suggestions. I had assumed Asos would probably be inappropriately tiny bottoms especially

Roxy’s D range is really good. Nice sporty top styles with support and a choice of matching bottoms with various levels of coverage depending on what she feels comfortable wearing.

elaeocarpus · 09/07/2025 10:09

Also try cupshe they seem to have a good range

meganorks · 09/07/2025 10:16

I hadn't thought of Roxy as I've only seen 'tiny triangle' types in surf shops. But if they have sorne fuller coverage stuff definitely worth a look.

Cupshe I thought was older but I'll have a look.

I’ve found cupshe great for good coverage and good quality bikinis. Alternatively the surf brands (Roxy etc) might work well.

Confuzzleduzzled · 09/07/2025 10:25

Hollister do a curvy range that my DD likes.

MageQueen · 09/07/2025 10:27

On the next website there's a fairly decent selection of two pieces where you buy the top and bottom separately. I am large chested and when I was young and slim, this was the only way I could ever buy bikinis.

Mulledjuice · 09/07/2025 12:44

Please tell me she's been properly fitted for a bra? That will tell her her cup size.

As someone who was once a big-boobed 14 year old please help her to get the right size.

No, sorry. I've measured her in the past and tried my best. I don't think M&S do proper bra fittings anymore (last time I had one they just peered at me in my bra, asked what size my current bra was and then just got a range of other sizes). Until recently I don't think she would have been big enough for Bravissimo. Plus she would probably refuse to go anyway. And she doesn't like proper bras and wears crop top types or sports bras. I was just looking at getting some Boody bras as they look like the sort of this she would wear.

I think this is a lovely sporty type bikini.

Another vote for Hollister curvy range

meganorks · 09/07/2025 15:20

I like the Hollister ones, but they are all very 'plung' front. I don't have a problem with that per se, but as stated, she is quite an active pool/beach goer. I just don't think she will stay in!

Not sure about the giant pants on the Pour Moi one, but that might work for her. Off to have a look.

Some of the Roxy ones look good, but works out £70+ for a bikini!

OP posts:
meganorks · 09/07/2025 16:23

Ok, so I leapt on her with a tape measure when she got home from school and I've ordered from Pour Moi ones from Next. They had several with more options with more covered cleavage. Plus, paise the lord, they had tabs to easily switch between the different top and bottom options. And bottoms actually cover your bum!!

I went with the top of the one above but normal briefs.
Fingers crossed something fits! Thanks for all your help!

So, she didn't like the underwiring. I don't think I quite realised they were underwired or I might have thought of that. Also, followed the measuring instructions and they were wildly out!

mathanxiety · 11/07/2025 01:04

Tankinis are possibly her best bet.

I remember one grim spring when after measuring one of my DDs and ordering seven different bikini tops not a single one fit.

TeamKneeLength · 11/07/2025 06:59

Might just be worth trying Decathlon. They have shortie-style bottoms, some tankini tops and some 'sportier' bikini tops with crop top-like coveragewhich would offer more coverage. Also some one-pieces which looks like tankini + shorties. Their own brand stuff is Nabaiji and Olaian. You can mix and match and nothing is very expensive. Order multiple sizes though - their sizing can be weird.

Reachforthestars00 · 11/07/2025 07:09

Funikta are fun and designed for activity. If a D cup, you probably want ladies sizes. You can buy top and bottom separately so can go for different sizes. www.funkita.co.uk/collection/660-swim-tops

redfishcat · 11/07/2025 07:34

I thought I was a D cup and went to Bravissimo and came out a G cup. She needs to be measured properly and get proper size support.
I recommend Lands End tugless and their tankinis too
