I have been invited to three of these in the next month (DH's job) and unfortunately all will feature many of the same people (boo hiss - no outfit recycling!)
What do you wear to such things? Can anyone find me something online? Please help or I'll go in my jeans and flip-flops....

How about this (not sure whether they deliver abroad though).

Could you do halterneck?

Scootergrrrl · 26/05/2008 14:47

I don't think I have the frontage for halterneck - don't you have to be all curvy and glamourous for that?
That's part of the problem - my natural state is jeans and Converse...

I bought a cheap dress at M&s would you believe which I wore for a wedding
will see if they still stock it. They had a nice selection

actually - tesco had some very nice summer dresses in last week

janeite · 26/05/2008 21:19

Cod - your blog has just made me howl with laughter - "A hotbed of hyperbole" - love it!

No luck on bikinis but I'm going to London on Weds or Thurs, so I will have a trawl there I think. I do still quite like that flowery M&S one but I'd need to try it on. I'll check out the Freya ones as well; maybe Selfridges will stock them?

Scootergirl - which dresses are your faves so far?

Scootergrrrl · 26/05/2008 21:46

I love the shift dress Cod found here and the simple blue pleated one of LL's from the first lot of links.
Do you think I should have a pattern or not? Black seems somehow wrong for a summer party... (am still going to buy the shift dress though!)

I think black is fine so long as the chosen dress is not too eveningy - Cod's shift one would be fine. And you could always accessorise it with colour.

icanonlydotigers · 27/05/2008 10:36

Could you wear a plain black dress and "ring the changes" (as the fashion writers say!) with different coloured shoes/accessories/jackets/jewellery etc. Then hopefully no-one will notice it's the same dress.
(One more thought, maybe in Germany people don't mind or even notice if you wear the same outfit 3 times?! Or do you just want an excuse for a splurge? )

Scootergrrrl · 27/05/2008 14:53

I think I'm going to have to go for the black shift dress just because it's so lovely.

(whispers) can you find me some accessories please? Ta very much
