Evening guest (November wedding)

I’ve lost 5 stone this year and suddenly have a body that I’m enjoying dressing.

Would this dress work for a November wedding? I’m an evening only guest along with other colleagues. I’m actually wearing the same dress (in the sage green version) as a bridesmaid this summer so I know it suits me (but guess I’m worrying the navy one is too dressy for a wedding guest?) The wedding is at a hotel.

Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for all the helpful comments! I’ve ordered the skirt and top version as I love it and I can relax knowing I look smart but not OTT 🙂

I'd wear the sage green one. I do t think you need to buy something new. . I don't think it's too dressy. Although, we do really dress for weddings.

It's very black tie to me, and OTT for most weddings. I'm no expert though.

Not a fan, evening did I have been to are generally casual events. More jeans and a nice top.

I've been to many, many weddings and only ever seen one person turn up in jeans (other than the wedding party in a field where the advice was clear). The bloke was the partner of one of the bride's colleagues, and he really stuck out and not in a good way. Struck me as being quite rude to accept an invitation then not dress up for the occasion.

You can honestly wear what you like!

If you like the dress & feel good in it, then go for it! At an evening reception, day guests may still have all their finery on so you're unlikely to be overdressed.
You're enjoying dressing up after weight loss, so you might change your mind by November anyway!

Thanks @Mulledjuice. Think I might go for a chiffon maxi skirt and fitted top. I’ve attached a picture of the kind of thing.

This is gorgeous!

Congratulations on your weight loss. How are you finding sizing? I've lost 6 stones and sizing is driving me crazy. Tried on some clothes in Oxfam the other day, with a great volunteer. She just brought me clothes that she thought would fit. Bought two size 10s and one size 14, bonkers!

Thank you! Congratulations to you too, what an incredible achievement 🙂 Totally get the sizing issue though, I’m all over the place and don’t trust my judgement so am endlessly getting too-big clothes as can’t comprehend I could be a size 12 in anything (but then also can be a 14 in the next shop so maybe it’s inconsistencies in high street shops rather than my own perception..)
