I like these best.

But on the stilettos argument, when you think about it, they're quite a strange thing to allow in the workplace, on H&S grounds. Now I'm sure the stiletto wearers will say that they regularly walk miles in theirs over all sorts of terrain and have never tripped or fallen in them, but most workplaces will put quite a lot of effort into reducing the risk of 'slips, trips and falls' while seemingly overlooking a type of footwear that massively increases the risk of this happening, especially on typical smooth office floor coverings and stairs.

If you objectively wrote a risk assessment for walking down stairs while wearing stilettos, it wouldn't be allowed.

Really? It's all people wear at my place - Jimmy Choos and Louboutins everywhere.

Nope. Not where I work or any of my clients. Not saying it’s not the case where you are of course but I’ve not seen any in the wild for years.

Having said that, I do think there are some absolute monstrosities being linked to on here that even at my advanced age, I would balk at. I mean I’m all for comfort but…

Those Gretchen nude and black heeled Pretty Ballerinas are gorgeous @IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastlebut sadly not in my budget.

Has anyone tried these? Reviews put me off, read the leather is not soft at all and caused blisters.

Ruthietuthie · 01/07/2025 14:54

@Kwean, your shoes are lovely. @amigafan2003, so RUDE!!!! Might not be to your taste, but still. You wouldn't speak like that to Kwean if you were working together in the same office or if you were friends meeting up for a coffee!

Ruthietuthie · 01/07/2025 15:00

I have a few pairs of these: Margaux Crosby sling. They have a slight heel (can't wear flats, because of my weird feet) but it might not be enough for you.

The classic shoe that I wear the most and have for years, is theFerragamo Vara. I particularly like the Vara soft, which is the non-patent version. To me, they are classic, but I know they read a bit "old lady" (happy to look a big "old lady" here, but I realize not everyone is going for that look!). These shoes last for YEARS with care. I have them in several colors, from apple red, to nude, to white, to navy.
Happy shoe shopping.

The Crosby Sling - Saddle Nappa

Our perfectly pointed toe is reimagined as a slingback with an adjustable top strap that hints at the iconic Mary Jane.

Totally agree!

I very rarely see anyone in those next stilettos & they look very very dated to me.

If I did see a woman wearing them with office attire I'd assume super conservative & stuffy sector.

I'm 55 & wouldn't wear the vast majority of shoes linked here.

I work in a creative sector so have a lot of freedom in what I can wear to work. I never ever wear heels to the office. I sometimes wear them out at might but not stiletto style

I love the Anonymous Copenhagen shoes linked & i have a few pairs from there.

I also wear loafers & shoes & boots from isabel marant, Sando, Maje, ba&sh & me+em,& Toast Trainers from hoff & isabel marant

Plus I buy shoes each year in Italy when I visit for work.

Gabor are usually very comfortable, I love their ballet flats. These could work. www.gaborshoes.co.uk/womens-c1/shoes-c2/court-shoes-c82/benji-ladies-court-shoes-p53979#attribute%5B1%5D=35845

Ah, that makes sense. The rarefied world of the private banker.

@amigafan2003, you would? Well, that wouldn't be very nice, would it? Come on, you know better. There is a way of saying things without hurting people. You're better than this.

amigafan2003 · 03/07/2025 00:28

Yes I would!

Your only suggestion (a) didn't meet the brief of flat shoes and (b) although I wouldn't say no one wears stilletos these days was a style that really isn't current looking.

AmberHoney · 03/07/2025 11:50

I was shopping in Next recently and they have some lovely summer shoes.
Marks and Spencer also have some low heeled smart work shoes.

amigafan2003 · 03/07/2025 14:12

The OP specified low heeled shoes, not flats:

"OK, I need some shoes to go with casual dresses. Im thinking a nude low heeled shoe. Can someone help me find some please?? Im in a smart casual job so no jeans or trainers"

It also says smart casual so a lot of shoes suggested in this thread aren't appropriate, including the one I stated were horrendous.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 03/07/2025 17:55

But you didn't suggest a low heeled shoe. You suggested a high stilleto, which are tbh pretty old fashioned looking these days

The shoes you call "horrendous" are low heels. And how you think they aren't smart casual- of course they are.

SpecsAndSlippers · 04/07/2025 14:56

amigafan2003 · 27/06/2025 23:21

They are horrendous.

Really they’re not! I love them!

An 85mm heel is a low to mid heel. High heels are 100m to 120mm.

According to you.

If any shoes are "horrendous" it's those old fashioned high heels you suggested.
