I find office shoes in summer difficult as don’t like anything totally flat. I’ve been thinking about getting some loafers from wonder shoes in a lighter colour, currently have black ones which are v comfy. Some of these are quite funky:

I think they're chic - reminds me of the 1960s Mary Quant look.

yes, me too!

They aren't. They're rather lovely.

I agree. They are so cute. In real life too.

Vintage style? I love these!

and these:

I think I'm dreaming! These are the sort of shoes Ive been looking for for years - and they're also in my size!

I have several pairs of shoes from Memery and their sizes are small on me so if you're not sure which size to order, go for the larger one. They are brilliant at returns though (all free) and swapping for another size.

These are my go tos - can't go wrong with a classic court shoe

If I have an important meeting, I might dress it up with a 100mm heel. 120mm heels are reserved for home.

These are very dated. I haven’t seen anyone wear stilettos to work for years.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/06/2025 08:21

I especially like the leopard ones. They come in lovely colours.

I really like the look of the DM loafers, but they are really wide fitting and didn’t work for me at all.

I’ve given up this year and have just been wearing brogues because I struggle with getting anything slip on to fit me.

Just seen they come in a bone colour. I had an almost identical pair in 1967 - I love these!

I actually love these. Very 60's retro.

Do you not get out much? I don't wear stilletoes but plenty of women still do. Not a majority but there's still many. Angela Rayner and Kate Forbes immediately spring to mind.

Thats what attracted me. Timeless classic. I like the heel (can’t do flats). The reviews are really good on comfort. And I had never considered terracotta as a neutral be for but it works well with most things.

What I need now is the dress I used to wear them with. It was black crepe, A line, above the knee with a scoop neck edged with little white daisies - same on the cuffs. I think it came from a High St shop called Chelsea Girl. (I'd want it on the knee these days - my mini-days are long over!). I remember wearing white lacy tights with it. I would have been 14 or 15 because by age 16 I'd started wearing long skirts and scouring jumble sales for vintage jackets, waistcoats, dresses, hats etc.

I’d say, in real life not politicians or celebrities etc, I see a woman in high heeled court shoes maybe once every 6 months. And yes I get out a lot, work and socialising in a city in SE England if that makes any difference.

I love an espadrille in the summer BUT I don’t like getting my toes and heels out at work - but our dress code is smartish and just a bit casual. These work for that with summer/casual dresses.

I also like the Next ones and agree stilettos are dated. Patent wouldn’t look right with a casual dress anyway esp black. Both the material and colour will be far too severe and heavy. I have black patent Louboutins and haven’t worn them in years. When I did, they were strictly for nights out or evening dates in the autumn/winter, with outfits that weren’t casual at all.

Yes I had thought of wearing them into the autumn with black opaque tights and a tunic type / A line LBD. Or under ankle grazer tailored trousers.

Really? It's all people wear at my place - Jimmy Choos and Louboutins everywhere.
