Bralet/ soft bra for large chest

Bestwisheswarmregards · 21/06/2025 15:01

I can't wear underwires anymore, they're just so uncomfortable with an F cup.

Has anyone found a bralet or wireless bra that is comfortable and lifts the boobs from my knees?

Any recommendations welcome

Another vote for Boody bras. I used to live in M&S cotton underwired T-shirt bras, but since the menopause I just can't tolerate underwires against my ribs. I'm a 32E/F in 'structured' bras, and the Boody size M fits just right. I look out for sales to stock up.

Re: shapermint. I refuse to believe that any single size of bra can fit both a 30e and a 36b! I mean I'm sure they could both get into it, but it can't possibly fit both sizes well.

My experience of bralettes that come in s/m/l as a 30e/f is that my boobs try to escape out of the bottom.

Yes, I agree with this.

So many s/m/l sized bras make you go up to a medium for an E cup - but then the band size is far too big (I’m a 30E). It’s very frustrating!

I have had success with the bravado sculpt bra though. Although it is sized s/m/l, they do a “large bust” size as well.

So for me, the S was slightly too small in the cup, but the S “large bust” size fits me pretty well.

I would be interested in trying Boody if only their bras had back fastening. I always find that bras you just pull over your head always get too loose over time - at least if you have a proper bra fastening you can move to gradually tighter fittings, if you need to.

Well inspired by this thread I went into a large M&S on a bra hunt. It amazes me how the same bra in a different colour fits differently! I needed a comfy bra that wasn't painful, give me awful back fat, roll, sag or monoboob me.

Anyway, I tried lots on: every minimiser, flexfit, full cup, underwired, non wired... The most comfortable for me was an underwired one which I wasn't expecting AT ALL. It was this one:

https://www.marksandspencer.com/flexifit-full-cup-minimiser-bra-c-g/p/clp60437844?color=BLACK

For info, I'm a normally a 38E BUT in this bra it fitted so much better in a 38DD in black and a 36DD in beige - the beige seemed stretchier. Happy boobies now.

Second the M&S FlexiFit!

I’m a 34F and have every colour of these in a Size 10 and they are super comfy and keep me looking perky!

I have these as well but find they get less supportive the more they’re washed. Does anyone else have this problem?

Molke are amazing. An F cup isn’t very big though, are you sure you’re wearing the right size? A properly fitting under wire bra will be perfectly comfortable, even with very large boobs, so might be that you’re uncomfortable because the bra is the wrong size rather than than the wires?

I find underwires very uncomfortable as they sit on my ribs and dig in. I’m cup size D, and we are all different shapes, so I think we can believe OP.

SurprisedSausage · 23/06/2025 20:07

Another one for Boody, I'm a 34F and the M is so comfy!

The Hanro moments bra is lovely, and more attractive than a lot of wireless bras (and gives a good shape) but is very spendy.

https://www.hanro.co.uk/products/moments-soft-cup-bra-black

It doesn't go up to a very big size. I'm an F, as is the OP.

RockaLock · 23/06/2025 22:15

Sorry,@Negroany(and OP) that’s my bad - I’m a 30E but I had forgotten that I have to buy a 32D in this one because yes, you are right, it doesn’t go very big in the cup size. Apologies for the not-useful link!

EllieEllie25 · 23/06/2025 22:17

The best I’ve found so far is Sugar Candy, there’s no underwires, no monoboob and the shape is reasonably flattering. They’re not perfect and get on my nerves by the end of the day but I’ve not found anything else that’s comfy enough and doesn’t look awful. I’m a 32FF and wear sugar candy medium. I might try some of the other recommendations here as I also can’t tolerate underwire bras any more, after wearing them happily for 30+ years.

I got suckered in by the Instagram adds for Cosabella bralets and bought one, super expensive, it looks great for the first 20 seconds, then goes hopelessly droopy as soon as I move. It’s no better than my sad granny multipack “comfort bras” from Amazon and less comfortable with the lace.

hatboxes · 24/06/2025 08:52

I’m an E or F cup and haven’t worn wires for years now. Would never go back. I get far less back pain, which I hadn’t realised was affected by wires until I stopped wearing them. I wear a lot of different types for different occasions and outfits, some just bralet, crop top types, and some proper bras.

Ive tried various brands, most of which have already been mentioned up thread.

One which no one’s mentioned yet is Royce. A traditional bra maker who’ve been around for ages and they only do non-wired, in proper bra sizes. They have a fuller cup range. They also do a several with high cotton content which I’m always looking for.

My other recommendation for a good combination of comfort, shape and support is good quality sports bras, especially the ones designed for high impact, eg Shock Absorber

im still after the holy grail of comfort, support, good shape, natural fibres, and attractive!

I’m wondering if a lot of these online brands are just the same bra under a different name

Flexi fit non wired from M&S, so comfortable! (32F)

Agreed- most comfortable bra I’ve ever had!

@TyneTeas I've just bought a Molke bra and had a hell of a fight getting the bugger on and off. I've double checked and it definitely isn't a size too small. Does it get easier with practice at all as I have arthritic shoulders? I'm wondering whether I should just send it back....

@ifionlyhadacat

I just pull mine on like a t-shirt really

I had a sore shoulder a few months ago and sometimes struggled to pull it down fully at the back a bit and used a wooden spatula to push it down in place

There is info on the website in the FAQs about putting it on

Q: How do I put on/take off my Original Molke bra?
A: There are two main ways to get into your Original bra. Some customers put it on over their head, whereas others find it easier to step into it and pull it up (sounds strange but it does work!). We have a handy video on our YouTube channel demonstrating a couple of common techniques and you can watch it here!

Omg I cant believe so many of us are wanting the same thing. Im going bra shopping soon so I will get measured again and I have taken note of all recommendations. If I find anything different I'll report back.

Shapermint isn’t for everyone. The person who said “how can so few sizes fit everyone” is right - for me, there isn’t enough differential between cup size and back size and I get a sweaty ugly monoboob. I really want a soft bra that does what a classic underwired bra does but with fit and fabric instead of wire. These big trendy stretchy new types do nothing for me.

largeknitter · 03/07/2025 23:08

Well…I bought a tape measure and did the “boob or bust” method of measuring before heading off to M&S. Jesus wept…the size of the cups on the bra supposedly my size was utterly ridiculous and I could have fit my bloody head in each one 🤦‍♀️
I think I’m just going to give up and go bra less at this point, clearly it’s impossible to get a bra that looks decent, fits well and is comfortable 🙄

ExtensivelyDecorating · 04/07/2025 08:24

Yes, the boob or bust method has me at a J cup when in fact E is the right fit.

CrescentMoonLanding · 04/07/2025 11:56

Another Sugar Candy gal here but looking for something in cotton that won't exacerbate the peri sweats 😭 I'm a small back size and large cup and also want something which has an adjustable back strap... Can't find anything that fits this bill, can anyone help? 🙏🏼

AlertCat · 06/07/2025 11:52

@largeknitter try Manners London. I’m wearing the crop tops under things and the longer tops as tops without a bra and it’s very liberating!

Newstartplease24 · 08/07/2025 08:42

I bought the cotton rich minimiser m&s underwired that someone recommended upthread. It’s comfortable (tho I didn’t judge the size quite right - nearly) and I’ve made my peace with wireless bras not working for me.
if you have large actual breasts rather than (or as well as) being generally big, this is what I have learnt:

Don’t measure and calculate: it’s useless. Only trial and error will work. Buy in store and try on, or go for online sellers with free returns. Go for a band size that will fit snug and then you’ll need a big cup size to hold the actual girls. They’ll hold them up and in and it will feel comfortable. Sloppy bras are worse than nothing.

don’t bother with the soft thick-strapped ones that are advertising hard (to me anyway) on insta. They’re expensive and it’s just a big squashed uncomfortable monoboob. Trying to use pressure instead of shape to support you.

look at what the bra has done to your shape. If it has forced skin in contact with skin (between the breasts or under the breasts for instance) dont buy it. That’s where you will get irritation. A good bra will hold your shape so it’s not causing that kind of rubbing.

if wires are pinching it’s the wrong size. Or a bad bra. There are more sizes available now in underwired bras. It might not be you just don’t get on with wires.

For me Royce bras do this. They are a bit granny ish though in appearance. But shapewise I look like a 1950s sweater girl!
