If you are over 50, what makes you glow?

Not specifically skin but obviously that’s part of it. I am feeling pretty washed out and it’s getting me a bit down. I dont mind looking 50 but I do mind looking faded.

i don’t colour my hair but it’s only 50/50 grey and light brown which probably doesnt help. But it’s shiny and can look really nice (have been stopped in the street to be complimented before) but also can look a bit swampy, it’s all a bit random. Skin is pretty good (genetics and basic routine), I take vitamins, my sleep is ok. Exercise could be better but there is some, diet good. Stress medium sometimes high but that’s life.

stuff like bright lipstick just doesn’t work on me - I have spent hours and pounds on this quest, asked for help at loads of make up counters etc. always look like a kid who’s trying on mummy’s.

i try to wear colours that suit. Had my colours ‘done’ 10 years ago but they aren’t hitting the spot in the same way.

i just feel a bit meh so need some suggestions please.

I tint my own lashes with a kit from Boots - I actually prefer the brow one on my lashes as there's less faffing about. Get it right into the roots on the top lash and remove the bits on the eyelid with a cotton bud dipped in eye-makeup remover - gives you a bit of an eye line that way.

It’s cruel

You certainly have to be very aware of the harvesting methods. Some are far from ethical.

I’m 56. For me, I think grey hair ages me and I have a half head of mixed highlights every 6 months which costs a LOT but I think is worth it. A good cut helps too.

I don’t bother with makeup much because I think you have to do it incredibly well at my age for it to improve your face. I see on other people that shaped eyebrows make a big difference. Good dentistry (not blinding white) also good on others.

Going to try the face yoga…
