Tell me how you dealt with your “11s”

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 09:51

I loathe mine, and after seeing some photos from a gathering last night, it’s clear mine are much worse than my friends, including those who are a few years older. The rest of my skin is fine, pretty good actually, but I have permanent frown lines.

If you’ve had yours treated, please tell me how and if you’d recommend it. Thank you!!

Fringe, ignore. I've had them since I was a (grumpy) teen and now in my 50s

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 10:00

I have curly hair, it doesn’t work with a fringe (I have tried!)

Only botox gonna fix that I'm afraid.

Wisterical · 18/06/2025 10:05

Work on your self-loathing.

ungratefulcat · 18/06/2025 10:06

I just don't think about them

AmyDuPlantier · 18/06/2025 10:07

Botox. Absolutely love it.

This.

Is it 11’s or frown lines, or both? If it’s one or the other Botox can fix just that area.

BrassyPalm · 18/06/2025 10:09

And your older friends are most likely looking noticeably better because they are already doing it.

Work on your self-loathing.

Rude.
You can be unhappy about a specific part of yourself without being filled with self-loathing. Very few of us consider every single aspect of ourselves perfect.

@MadameSzyszkoBohusz another Botox vote. Tiny bit, infrequently, keeps my unintended angry face from years of short sighted drowning at bay.

Mauvehoodie · 18/06/2025 10:10

Skin&me (tretinoin), lots of hydration (hyaluronic acid) and caster oil at night have helped mine look better.

BrassyPalm · 18/06/2025 10:09

Correct. Only my best friend knows I get it, there's still a sense of embarrassment or a feeling I'm being a bit selfish spending 300 quid on myself every 6 months so I don't trumpet it.

MojitosAllRound · 18/06/2025 10:17

Clearly that should have said frowning, although drowning in work stress does add to my 11s too!

PomeloOud · 18/06/2025 10:20

Botox! I had really noticeable glabella lines - made me look permanently cross. Botox eliminates them entirely, and even when it wears off they don’t come back like they used to.

Wisterical · 18/06/2025 10:23

@MojitosAllRound not rude at all, the OP actually uses the word 'loathes' about herself.

IsItBeesThoughLooshkin · 18/06/2025 10:24

Botox. If you’re worried it will be noticeable, just tell the injector you want a natural look. I recommend using a dentist, they really know the facial muscles. Don’t let some ’beautician’ with dubious training do it.

Nevertrustacop · 18/06/2025 10:34

Yup Botox. No one knows I have it, not even DH.
Just the 11s, nothing else.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 10:39

Our dental firm - which I really rate - offers Botox so I was thinking about using them if that was the prevailing opinion, which it seems to be.

I have mild frown lines, which don’t bother me much, nor do my crows feet, it’s just the 11s - which hadn’t occurred to me but probably are due to my terrible eyesight (-13.5 in both eyes!)

And while I do loathe them, I don’t loathe myself - I’m actually quite a cheerful, happy person, which is partly why I dislike seeing such a cross expression on my face!

Botox. It takes 2 mins. Best thing ever

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 10:48

A further question - at nearly 47, have I left it too late?

OP posts:
Workingonthehighway · 18/06/2025 10:51

Whats the difference between frown lines and 11's and what are glabella lines 😬

Gettingbysomehow · 18/06/2025 11:03

I don't believe in self loathing, I believe in action and doing my best to look good for my age..63. The lines between my eyebrows make me look angry so I have botox which cures the problem. I don't have any other lines to speak of.
My neck is looking pretty awful now so I'm having that done next year abroad.
I have my teeth regularly cleaned about 6 monthly and whitened around every 2 years as they seem to get discoloured more the older you get and I have a few dental implants. I don't want gaps or dentures.
I keep slim and go to the gym three times a week. My body has aged a lot but I don't care about that. I buy clothes that flatter it. Nobody needs to see my body.
I think women are way too hard on themselves quite honestly.

Loathing your 11s and self loathing are not the same thing.
It was rude. It suggests extreme and widespread personal self criticism.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 10:48

No. Not for the 11’s.

I have been getting it 2x a year since I was 37. I’m 50 odd now - I love it. I do both 11’s and frown lines. A cousin recently started with her 11’s (only that) and she’s in her 40’s. Wiped them out completely.

I happily see a nurse practitioner but I wouldn’t try anyone less qualified.

Glabella are the 11’s. Mine were never too bad but some people have quite prominent glabella lines - the two lines that form vertically between your eyebrows, for many people they only appear if you scowl. Frown lines are the horizontal lines that form all over your forehead when you frown. As you age they usually become obvious even when you are not frowning.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 18/06/2025 11:28

Thank you, @BrassyPalm, very helpful!
