I have a straight linen skirt that looks great with a long top and I'm very apple-shaped. It's not quite as long as that skirt though, but I don't think it would swamp you in the way that a very full long skirt would.

StrangeTown · 22/05/2008 22:15

Lovely skirt, quite straight fitting though from waist to hip? So not sure for an apple, maybe more for column types?

fishie · 22/05/2008 22:16

what would you wear on top? high risk of habit-look.

brimfull · 22/05/2008 22:17

I was thinking of wearing it with longish to upper hip t-shirt ,that skims rather than clings, and a belt.

That's a fab site, I've never seen it before. It's very apple-friendly isn't it? A good range of sizes too.

brimfull · 22/05/2008 22:18

yes,bit £££ though

they do have decent sales ,got a fab suede jacket for £30 a few yrs ago

This one would be pretty too, especially if you wear a belt on the hips over a longish top. It wouldn't be too long either. Do you have good ankles?

brimfull · 22/05/2008 22:33

hmm ankles ok ,but I'm not sure about the length of that one looking a bit frumpy on me.Needs ot be at the knee or longish.

OP posts:
bran · 22/05/2008 22:36

Wouldn't the shorter length of that one be on the knee?

Just done a quick tape measure and the 27" would be below the knee, therefore the 30" would be too long and full. I assumed the picture was of the longer one, but I think is the shorter one now.

fishie · 22/05/2008 22:39

gg send for it, rare to find a long skirt in a nice shape.

am a bit worried re flat sandals and belt accessories though, is very monk.

brimfull · 22/05/2008 22:39

yes 27 would be just below knee

I am tempted by the elasticated waist of the other one though

OP posts:
brimfull · 22/05/2008 22:40

lol yes monk not a good look

don't think the vest top she's wearing would suit me though, maybe just plain t shirt then

OP posts:
fishie · 22/05/2008 22:43

that below knee one woudl be disaster (for me anyway). apple skirt = to knee and sort of aline, panels with no flare.

brimfull · 22/05/2008 23:13

this one is a bit cheaper!!

hunkermunker · 22/05/2008 23:34

God, some people have more money than sense - dressing the contents of your fruit bowl?! You'll be putting a scarf round the chimney pot to keep it warm in winter next!

brimfull · 22/05/2008 23:44

hardehar

now for my banana hmmmm

Are both those sites actually the same company ggirl? The clothes and the site design look very similar.

brimfull · 23/05/2008 15:01

don't think so

I get catalogue from both but agree they are similar.

OP posts:
bran · 23/05/2008 15:12

I googled after my last post (should have googled before really) and they are owned by the same parent company. I've forgotten the name already, but it wasn't a company I'd heard of before.

I've ordered that skirt you linked to on the Poetry site, in red. I won't wear it in the unlikely event that I ever go to a MN meetup though, so I won't cramp your style.

brimfull · 23/05/2008 15:38

oooh the red is lovely

what colours are you going to wear with it?

never been to a meet up anywya{smile]

OP posts:
brimfull · 23/05/2008 15:40

omg it's not reduced anymore!!

did you get it for £49?

I haven't ordered yet ..poo

OP posts:
bran · 25/05/2008 13:30

How strange about it not being reduced anymore. I did get it for 49 (no pound sign on this computer) less than an hour before you posted that it wasn't reduced anymore. Perhaps it was reduced by mistake, or all the traffic to it from here made them think that it was suddenly very popular and they could get full price.

I'm not sure what I'll wear with it yet. I have a floaty chiffon-type top with a red and pink flower design which will probably go well if I wear a red vest-top underneath. It might be good with a black or cream top too, I'll have to see when I get it.

brimfull · 27/05/2008 10:55

bran -have you received the skirt yet. Can't decide whether to get it or not.

OP posts:
bran · 27/05/2008 15:17

I'm in Amsterdam until Saturday ggirl (DH is working here) so it will hopefully be waiting for me when I get back. I'll let you know what I think of it.

brimfull · 28/05/2008 22:37

lucky you bran

have a nice time
