My heels could tear the sheets

Only a slight exaggeration.

I've been having baths not showers recently which always make my feet worse. I'm also overweight which I know doesnt help and I get dry skin.

I file them reguparly. I used to use that grey sponge/brick that came in a green box but they don't sell that anymore so I use a similar thing but you use it dry. I moisturise every night and on mornings when I can.

I did try just moisturising and no filing for a while but that just left me with cracked heels.

Even when they feel lovely and soft they look white and dry.

Any suggestions?

I thought this was going to be about stilettos

@BatFeminist - me too 😅

LittleCosette · 10/06/2025 22:29

Footer!

MercyChant66 · 10/06/2025 22:31

I swear by O'Keefe's foot cream every night (with socks) and every morning. Only thing that works for me.

Fozzleyplum · 10/06/2025 22:32

I use this and then slather my feet in Vaseline and put a socks on overnight.

Beetletweetle · 10/06/2025 22:32

It's likely to be fungal as pp said. Get some athletes foot cream. File them down, make sure you clean the file every day (not sure how, boiling it water or spray with teatree oil?) and apply cream regularly.

Also if overweight then get a check up as it's a sign of diabetes.

DaisyFayBuchanan · 10/06/2025 22:55

Visit a podiatrist and have a medical pedicure then keep up with it yourself by using a 40% or 50% Urea cream each night and invest in a good quality foot file.

Gettingbysomehow · 10/06/2025 23:00

Flexitol cream twice a day. Smother it on and put socks on top. Your heels will be baby's bum soft within a month. I know what I'm talking about I'm a podiatrist.
If people turn up with dog rough heels I refuse to debride them until they have done this for at least 2 weeks because it's not safe to scalpel rock hard feet. It's really easy to cut them.
There is no need for heels to get this bad, but if you don't put ,oisture back in that's what happens. I do my own everyday and they are beautiful.

Scholl cracked heel balm - the one in a stick is brilliant. Only thing that’s properly sorted my heels

Edited

Came on to say this - the stick is brilliant.

Thank goodness it wasn't just me! 😂

DaisyFayBuchanan · 12/06/2025 07:16

I’m surprised at everyone recommending Flexitol, the urea content is low compared to other foot creams/balms that you can buy.

This and use socks

SwedishSayna · 12/06/2025 07:58

Does anyone know of a decent heel cream that's vegan?

Vaseline on your heels with socks on

Yes. I soak my feet while showering (put the plug in). Then, while my feet are still damp, I slather on Eperderm, which is very similar to Vasoline, and pop socks on top. I leave the socks on as I get ready. Or I sleep in them. My feet used to get so cracked they would sting, and I also used to get that blister eczema on the soles in the summer. So uncomfortable. I do this perhaps two or three times a week, less in winter.

Sultanofzanzibar · 13/06/2025 17:38

What about a stubborn hard callous on the outer sole? I use cream regularly and file but can never get rid of this.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/06/2025 18:48

Flexitol 10% is the foot cream / 25% on the heel balm
Used every day- best on slight damp skin (not wet skin) rub it in your hands to soften it then apply and rub in well Wear a pair of cotton socks to help it absorb and keep it in place .

File your heels dry then shower/bathe

Cushioning heels not open back or you get a ridge where your heel sits .

IOnlyWantSexMoneyPowerAndRevenge · 28/09/2025 08:39

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm working through them and so far:

  • flexitol helps when they are cracked but it doesnt keep them soft
  • foot peel mask made everywhere but my heels nice. It did zero to my heels
  • athletes food cream seems to have made the hard skin look better if that's possible so I think there was some fungus there. This makes sense as I do have a couple of toenails with fni (Im treating them)
  • vaseline, shea butter and various other lotions and potions did nothing
  • I havent tried the scholl thing yet but will

I walked a few miles bare foot on the beach a few weeks ago. That destroyed my feet and I couldnt walk without pain for a few days. They are still recovering.

I think Im going to have to see someone once Ive nursed them back to their normal state. I've been putting it off because I hate having my feet touched. Some days I literally have to use a hair drier on my feet because I cant stand the feeling of a towel. 🤣 I'm NT but I generally hate being touched by other people but especially my feet.

Agree with pp saying see a chiropodist, money very well spent.

Obeseandashamed · 28/09/2025 09:06

Flexitol is great!

KnitKnitKnitting · 28/09/2025 09:50

I bought a Callus Peel kit. It’s the same brand as I’ve had used in a pedicure. Works brilliantly, I always used to struggle every year with cracks along my feet. I used it about 3 times, a month apart, to get my feet in decent shape and now use it about every six months. Then semi-regularly use a foot cream (I should probably use it daily but don’t remember). I’ve tried the high urea ones, but actually find Soap and Glory’s Heel Genius works really well for me.

WinterNightStars · 28/09/2025 09:53
