Estee Lauder - on a budget!

I recently had a mini facial at Estée Lauder and a foundation colour match. It was lovely and I had a real glow when the lady had finished. It was the look that I’d always wanted to achieve but never actually got there.

So here’s the thing, if I bought the skincare products it would be £££ which I really cannot justify. Has anyone used or discovered similar but on a budget? She used:

Eye makeup remover (bought this, it’s fab).
Cleansing balm
Advanced Repair eye cream
Advanced Night Repair serum
Revitalising Supreme +bright moisturiser
Daywear Sheer Tint release moisturiser

Have you got a shopping outlet nearby? The Cosmetics Company is all EL brands so you might be able to bag something there.

MrsPerfect12 · 08/06/2025 16:58

Aldi do a good cleansing balm it’s a dupe of Elmis and it’s lovely. The Superdrug version is crap don’t buy that.
if you google the rest you’ll be given the dupes.

MuffinCoffee · 08/06/2025 17:02

Sadly nothing ever comes close to EL. I used it for 10 years and stopped when I had a child and mortgage and could no longer justify it. I think the serum has hyaluronic acid. You can get that from some of the ordinary serums.
I couldn't find any foundation that comes close. Have been using L'Oréal which is alright.

NeedWineNow · 08/06/2025 17:04

@Britpopbaby We have. There is a Cosmetics Company there so will definitely check that out. Thank ypu.

@MrsPerfect12 Thanks. I've got the Superdrug one which makes me feel a bit dry so this is good to know. I'll look out for it.

Thanks @MuffinCoffee . I didn't imagine it would be that good, hence my dilemma!

I don't think anything can beat EL ANR serum or Revitalising supreme moisturiser. I've used the serum day and night for decades and the moisturiser for years. I have tried others because the prices are a bit eye watering but nothing suits my skin better. I've found other cosmetics to be better but not skincare.
I justify it to myself by saying I don't drink much and don't buy many new clothes or shoes.

I would highly recommend buying direct from them online and joining their loyalty scheme. Over the years I've had so many excellent free samples of products I use, once you get to a certain number of points you get free full size products, so I usually get 2 free a year, and there are nearly always offers for loyalty holders with free travel sizes or full sizes or price reductions. The benefits far exceed any you can get from buying in a store concession.

I have extremely dry skin and love the Revolution Skin night cream. If it SUPER moisturising

NeedWineNow · 08/06/2025 19:00

@Buxusmortus Thank you for this. I'll definitely sign up.

I would just use the EL - by the time you try 2 or 3 cheaper versions you may as well pay out for the one you like. It does last ages as well - I've got the cleanser and you only have to use a tiny bit at a time so it's lasted for years, to the point I should probably get rid of it because it's been open so long (but won't!).

If you shop around there's a big difference in price - e.g. boots has the cleanser at full price for £34 but allbeauty.com has it for £22 plus 10% off if you spend £50.

I would also second the cosmetics company. their prices are cheaper anyways, and if you sign up to their mailing system they regularly do 20-30% off that, or little freebies etc. I always get my EL foundation from there.

Ask for them for bdays/christmas etc!

Comefromaway · 08/06/2025 19:36

I use their Hydra foundation & I had a free sample of the night repair serum which I’m using.

I then use a Cerave moisturiser day & night & Superdrug vitamin E cleanser.

Buxusmortus · 08/06/2025 20:43

A very good bargain on their website at the moment is full size 15ml ANR eye cream, 75ml revitalising supreme and 50ml Serum for £100, saves over £150. I buy when they've got offers like that on because you save so much.
Also agree with pp about asking for birthdays and Christmas, the gift sets are always good value.

NeedWineNow · 09/06/2025 10:02

Thanks everyone for all your responses and help. I've signed up for the Estee Lauder site and I'll be having a look at QVC as I didn't realise they now did EL.

I got a sample of the ADNR serum and gel when I had my facial, so I'll be trying those out. I also got the M&S Beauty Bag on Friday (great value this time) and was happy to see the EL moisturiser in it, so will be trying that out as well. The small sizes will give me a chance to make sure I don't have any adverse reactions and then I can go for the larger sizes.

I'm starting to agree with Patrick Grant in his book 'Less' - buy less but better quality. I think that's true of skincare as well.

I've bought all sorts of dupes and ‘like for likes’ before and honestly it's never the same. The quality of the ingredients they use are totally different and I find the dupes are always heavily perfumed which isn't great for my sensitive skin. I currently use EL, treated myself as my skin was getting worse and as expensive as it is, it does last a long time as you don't need to use as much to make a difference.

Keep an eye out on John Lewis as they always have offers on and do price matching.

LoafofSellotape · 09/06/2025 10:31

Loads on Vinted,I buy the ANR serum on there for about £20. It would be a cold day in hell if I ever bought it for full price.

Have a Google, lots of offers ,I usually get my double wear foundation for at least a tenner cheaper than rrp.

Divebar2021 · 09/06/2025 10:50

For dupes I’d probably ask ChatGPT however there is an app called Blackfriday that groups current sale items together so you can see where offers are. It’s a complete mish mash but you can search any brand. I
posted some images of some current offers ( there’s a load of EL Pomegranate skincare that’s apparently cheap because it’s out of date… I didn’t include that)

Look fantastic sells EL and there's often at least 22%off codes knocking about .QVC do brilliant bundles too on a today's special value, got the eye cream, cleansing balm and 50ml serum for £89 a few months ago

NeedWineNow · 09/06/2025 16:57

@slowlyfallingtobits That QVC bundle is amazing value. Now I know they do EL I shall look out for them.

I’d go budget cleanser your washing it straight off but perhaps splurge on the eye cream and serum (I’ve used both for years). I invest in my skin and try to cut back elsewhere.

NeedWineNow · 09/06/2025 18:22

@daisydotss Thanks for the suggestion. I’m happy with my cleanser at the moment so may only look to change once I’ve run out but the serum, moisturiser and eye cream are very tempting buys!

Britpopbaby · 09/06/2025 19:14

@NeedWineNow If you go to The Cosmetics company they sell the Clinique Take the Day Off in a jumbo size ( double the amount in a single pot) for not much more than one single one. Well worth buying. I use it for my night time cleanse.
