IYO - can fine floppy hair do fringes?

Am off to the hairdresser tomorrow to redo my highlights and get it cut (last went 3 months ago).

Last time I went the hairdresser's he suggested a fringe. Cue horrified reaction on my part (last had one age 13).

Then relented and let him cut quite a long swept over to the side one which has pretty much grown out now.

Am wondering whether to go for it or not tomorrow?

Have [gulp] taken the plunge, taken a photo (after a hard day at work, please excuse wrinkles, dark circles etc - see name!)

Would love some help from you stylish girlies - have no-one I can really ask over here and am totally clueless about hairstyles at the moment (but I usually trust this hairdresser to guide me).

thanks

I've just had a fringe cut in and it looks fab!

Ooh just looked at your pic, wow you're pretty!
Yes I'd say you have the shaped face to carry a fringe, go for it

Course you'll have to post up the fringe pic too.

Wrinkles? You look all of early twenties !

I would say yes it would suit you (but not too short) blunt cut to skim your eyebrows

HaventSleptForAYear · 21/05/2008 11:56

Lucky the photo's not a close up !

But doesn't fine hair go all manky on a fringe the day after you've washed it?

Currently washing my hair every other day or every 3rd day (I wear it up after the 1st day).

Don't want to have to start doing it every day.

Seriously? How?

Mine can't, the short bits just fly backwards and join the back bits, rather than staying heavy and forwards. Really annoying. Have forehead wrinkles I would like to cover.

I have very fine hair (used to have a similar style to yours) .. I now have a fringe

I do wash mine most days (can get away with every other day but as i'm in the shower anyway it feels odd not to wash it)

I've never worked out the just wash one bit.. don't the suds touch the dry hair?

Are there any sites where I can upload a photo and see what a style would look like?

I have hair like yours Havent. I am constantly growing a fringe out, then having it cut back in! I usually wash mine everyday (otherwise lanky). The trouble with fringes is that they grow too long so quickly (I too only get to HD every 3mnths or so).

I think you look great by the way .

WilfSell · 21/05/2008 12:44

I have discovered the delights of Batiste dry shampoo for the 'don't want to wash but greasy/lank' problem. Stinks like billy-o but works well.

Yes, get a fringe. Will suit you.

BTW, are you VERY tall or do you live in a caravan?

TigerFeet · 21/05/2008 12:47

I wash my fringe more often than I wash the rest of my hair

I think a fringe would suit you

Squack · 21/05/2008 12:49

For a greasy fringe or roots and no time to wash get Lee Stafford's dry shampoo spray. It's in Boots and is a lifesaver (bright pink cannister about 5 inches tall, costs about £4)

It's bloody brilliant!
smells rather nice too.
A bit like using talc to dry out the oil.
You just spray the area that's oily and voila! Hair looks like it's been washed.

WilfSell · 21/05/2008 12:50

a ha ha ha! batiste dry shampoo much bigger can, only about 2 quid!

HaventSleptForAYear · 21/05/2008 12:50

Pmsl wilfsell !

Have looked at the photo again and see what you mean ! It's taken in our bedroom and we have sloping ceilings, and the curtains you can see are waist-high curtains disguising built-in shelves.

Obviously should have chosen a better background but the DS were on the rampage.

Am only 5ft4 and often described as petite so SO NOT tall !

Squack · 21/05/2008 12:54

ooh, where do you get that from wilfsell? i clearly have too much money lol

HaventSleptForAYear · 21/05/2008 12:55

Need to send my mum to boots then before she comes to see me.

scattyspice thanks for the compliment - especially today when I have come out all eczemy and puffy and look like a burns victim.

Am a bit worried the whole fringe thing is a ploy to get me in the hairdresser's more often - as you say - it will grow out really quickly, especially if it's on my eyebrows...

sigh.. I am SO not a brave person with hair.

Am worried DH will laugh too...

squack: tescos online!

DrNortherner · 21/05/2008 12:59

You have the right face shape for a fringe, however don't get a blunt heavy one as your features are too petite. I love fringes (I have one too!)

Squack · 21/05/2008 13:00
