City walking trainers ...that don't have the big clunky heel...but able to do 20,000 steps a day !

Hi.
I am very petite with petite feet .

Big clunky trainers do look a bit silly on me with a dress !

City vacation with a lot of walking and steps .

Or are the heels part important in the comfort ?

Thanks .

I've been wearing my Fitflop F-Mode trainers for over a year and they are still incredibly comfortable and supportive. They don't look as chunky on as they do off and they are actually lightweight to wear.

Sandysandyfeet · 01/06/2025 09:29

Also recommend Hoffs. So comfortable!

iliketheradio · 01/06/2025 12:39

You need something with a good cushioning. I’m off on honeymoon soon and will be doing similar steps every day. I’ve gone for a pair of ASICS running shoes in a lovely pink colour. Fashion trainers will NOT be comfortable for that many steps, as they are flat and do not give your feet proper support.

bettingpencil · 01/06/2025 14:11

I find my addidas speziels endlessly comfy

Jaxhog · 01/06/2025 14:20

I found Skechers Go Walk to be unbelievably comfortable - especially as an overweight size 5. I walked all around New Zealand and Australia, sometimes 9 miles a day, in mine without sore feet.

passmeaglass · 01/06/2025 14:20

I could probably do that in my vejas but I have a half insole in them for arch support as they’re completely flat. Without the in sole no chance. I’ve also just taken my on cloud 6 trainers on holiday and wore them for gym and sightseeing- very comfortable

TheLette · 01/06/2025 14:34

Another vote for Hoff - I wore them in New York a few months ago where we walked a LOT. They were super comfortable. Much better than my Vejas which I also took. Not sure how versatile they'd be with dresses but they do come in lots of colours. They are a little chunky but not heavy.

missg00se · 01/06/2025 14:58

Another vote for Hoff. Did 20,000 steps + for four days straight on a recent holiday and they were amazingly comfy (despite having been bought as an emergency purchase en route and not broken in beforehand).

Walking shoes? (But not with a dress)

These were the ones. Also an emergency purchase - no need to wear in.

Same here, bought them on the holiday, wore for a couple of km back to hotel from the shop and then 20k steps on each successive day with no problems (and wearing invisible trainer socks)

Look at walking shoes, not trainers. Try Go Outdoors, Mountain Warehouse etc rather than fashion retailers. I walk everywhere and practically live in my walking shoes.

I have these as well. So comfortable.

Do they have arch support?

WhatterySquash · 01/06/2025 19:48

Yes to Hoff, I also have the city trainers (they’re literally called city!) - I’ve only had them a few weeks and I’ve walked in them loads, total comfort. They also come in fashiony colours that look good with dresses and they’re not really chunky.

PurplePenguin28 · 01/06/2025 19:54

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD sound like they maybe a good fit for your needs. They aren’t the cheapest but are very well made with soft leather and good support in the upgraded soles in the SD version. They’ve been around for many years and have avid followers who swear by their comfort while also having a slimline profile. They’ve are really popular at the moment with lots of celebrities wearing them too so you’d be in style.

Yes I can’t wear anything that hasn’t

Conniebygaslight · 02/06/2025 06:31

I bought some gorgeous ones from New Look, they were incredibly light and comfortable. Wore them on a city break recently and walked loads.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 02/06/2025 06:38

If you are very petite, be careful of trainers where the heel back goes too high up your leg/ankle - I struggle with sambas compared to gazelles because the back leather tab bit is higher and rubs. You’ll need socks that come up your ankle not trainer socks. (They tend to make adidas trainers shorter in length but don’t allow for smaller feet have less distance from the floor to ankle, other styles have also rubbed on ankle bones. Try on carefully.)

NoNewsisGood · 02/06/2025 06:40

Barefoot shoes? They don't have to be the weird ones with the separated toes! Many brands now do versions but for that sort of distance it could be good to give them a go. They tend to be very low profile as not much extra to them.

Oh nor me - but I find some aren't supportive enough or in the wrong place so considering getting orthotics and using them to replace flat insoles!

Thanks for reply

Cocolapew · 02/06/2025 09:22

Hoka or On Cloud
I love the look of Hoff but can't wear mine for long periods of walking, I do have dodgy feet though.

aLittleWhiteHorse · 03/06/2025 21:50

All Birds. Significantly more confortable than either my Hoffs or Adidas, although they are all great shoes.
