Please help! Sandals for really difficult feet

Every year I buy a new pair of sandals thinking these will be the ones, but every year end up with blisters after the first wear and I end up resorting back to my very old Next sandals which are well worn out by now but strangely comfortable (despite many more expensive ones bought since). My requirements are tan/neutral colour, reasonably stylish to wear with dresses, able to walk comfortably in all day (not hiking, just easy walking). Should be easy except I have bunions which are unsightly and can be painful if shoes are rubbing, however I have very narrow feet and ankles so I can't wear wide shoes to compensate or they fall off. I need a strap due to narrow feet. Definitely don't want sporty type Teva sandals (nothing against them, but not what I'm looking for). Budget up to £100.

Another recommendation for Skechers here. I love my bobs sandals, I have awkward feet and mine are lovely and comfy.

This has just come up at the side of the page and with QVC you can try them for 60 days then return them for a full refund if they don't suit. ( I've never bought anything from them so it's not a recommendation 😊)

Can you do this with any sandals that are too tight I wonder?

I doubt it. Salt water sandals are specially treated to be able to withstand getting wet. You can even wear them in the sea. Normal leather would likely be ruined doing this.

I've bought these for a few years now. They are tired by the end of the summer but I wear them daily and walk a lot in them so give the price I can forgive it. They come up small though - I am always size 6 in everything else but I buy these in an 8. I got the tan ones this year.

The straps are stretchy but have never rubbed. Don't know where it would sit in relation to your bunion though.

I have CP and a Misshapen foot due to surgery and gave up on sandals but Ecco do some really nice fully adjustable straps ones
I can vouch for Ecco as a brand, I have 4 pairs of beautiful soft and perfectly fitting ankle boots.
i wear Clark's Mary Jane's

Marrill kahlua or teva tira.. I have both and they’re both comfortable.

Sorry - struggling to understand what you mean by "a strap over the foot but not across the ankle" if you also mean not a slingback.

I appreciate you are getting frustrated so I'll bow out.

I think she means the strap across the foot needs to be toward the toes rather than across the foot just by the ankle. I have very low volume feet and straps across the foot by the ankle don't touch my feet at all.

PermanentTemporary · 26/05/2025 08:03

I have really bad bunions, long toes and wide feet even if the bunions weren't there. To be fair my heels aren't too narrow

For about ten years I've only worn Hotter sandals of one particular type. Going on their website they seem to have disappeared - they're nearest to the Solei style. Hotter sandals frequently have adjustable straps but that doesn't automatically mean they're OK with bunions, as you know. Really you need to try lots on - don't even know where you could do that any more.

@TheOliveFinchRe: Fantasy sandals? Do you mean the insole part? Because they are genuine suede-y insoles, the surface gradually gets less suede-y but still confortable. The support/footbed stays the same. I’m not sure if that’s what you’re asking though. I can’t compare properly with Birks, as whenever I tried them on, they always felt so hard, and the sole so stiff. These are bendy and supple. The leather might be a little bit stiff for a day or two and then perfect. My feet are very soft though. I get blisters just looking at high-heeled shoes 🤣

TheOliveFinch · 26/05/2025 11:05

@Pantofolaiothank you I was meaning the bottom of the sole , the uppers and insole of my birkies will last years but I’ve had to replace the rubber sole after not very long which makes them even more expensive than they already are

Apart from Sketchers, which never let me down, my most comfortable pair of sandals are from Reiker.
