I have weighed my new bikini from Next…

I have been buying same style high leg bikini bottoms from Next for years. Finally, got the red bikini as previously out of stock. Not my first choice if the bra as it’s a tie back and I prefer a clasp but I am not paying Pour Moi prices for maybe 5 wears per year.

Anyways, the bottom felt a touch flimsy. I got out and weighted identical cut bottoms from 2 years ago and weighted them on a kitchen scale - indeed, 52g old, 46g new. 12% flimsier. Annoying.

Cheap swim wear is false economy. If you only wear about 5 times a year, the decent one should last you until the end of time. No need to buy annually.

i just bought a new bikini. As I was a bit over the same one form seafolly that’s almost 20 years old. Looks as new. But fancied 2 so I have options now. It will outlive me I’m sure

Why do you need a new bikini every year?

Mummyoflittledragon · 20/05/2025 06:14

The quality of clothes has plummeted, as has the relative price, apart from the past few years - price that is. Dh likes Lacoste polo shirts. I had one in the 1980s. I swear the fabric was double the thickness.

I love your attention to detail. But another one wondering why you bought a new bikini when you only wore the last one 5 times.

Definitely look at Dull Men's Club over Dull Women's Club. The men's is chock full of randomness, but the women's is full of selfies of people introducing themselves. I don't understand why it's a thing, but I am quite dull.

Agree - the men’s one is way better. Full of random bits of interesting information.

I recommended it to a guy at work after seeing a post on someone who all their car mileage ever tracked on a spreadsheet with price, quantify mileage etc. I felt it was the sort of thing he would do….he does.

the women one is full of prom photos at the moment. The vast majority seem to say they married their high school bf/gf. I’m sure that’s not representative of the whole of the US so I’m guessing in g it’s related to the people that join that FB group.

Have you ever considered posting on the Facebook Dull Womens group? This is the kind of content they love! Don't forget the banana for scale!!

Love that you did this though. I've noticed jeans no longer come as thick as they used to.

🤣

I once weighed my jeans, top and footwear on my bathroom scales after a hospital appointment, to prove to myself that the HCSW who weighed me was wrong to deduct only 2lb for ‘wearing outdoor clothes’ from my weight.

I was quietly satisfied. That is all.

How much did they weigh?????

AguaMinerale · 20/05/2025 07:08

I do not buy a new bikini every year. I have two from two years ago but my boobs have gone up a size, so I wanted a new one that fits better. For clarity - bottom same size, so I was comparing like for like.

Very useful for holiday packing though - whether you are trying to squeeze into a rucksack or have a full case to get under 20kg - every little helps !

What a monster! Everyone knows it's 4lbs at least
