Yes I have a pair and so does DH. I bought them because I got lower back pain. I think they are damn ugly but I'm reluctant to stop wearing them. I want to buy a pair of sandals but the model I want aren't available in the UK. They are cheaper alternatives that promise similar benefits and are a lot lighter too. Earth shoes is one.
You can sometimes get the more cheaply on EBAY. People have bought but can't get on with them and so are selling them on.
If you are interested you should get your feet measured by an MBT fitter (John Lewis sells them) and then look for your bargains.

butt ugly

Both dh and I have some - I live i nmine!

(in fact, dh has recently managed to find some MBT brogues, and so is slowly unleashing brogues on the City! )

we both suffered from lower back pain - mine is 100% better since starting to wear MBTs.

They are expensive, but imo are completely worth it (just a shame they couldn't be just a little more attractive)

toolly · 19/05/2008 23:27

I am hankering after the staka beluga. Not available her unfortunately!

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 08:39

aaaahhh toolly - Earth shoes, DH mentioned those. So you think they are worth considering? I bought some ART shoes in Brighton - 2 pairs actually, both cost a blimmin fortune, but they weigh so heavy, your feet and legs totally knackered by end of the day.

I will check Earth shoes out. And yes wrt to the MBT shoes - they are not flattering, but I have CFS and flat feet, so need something to help.

littleapin - thanks, I didnt know John Lewis sell them, or sell the fitters (not sure if I understand what you mean tho LOL, but I will find out tonight, cos Im off up to the mall, and will pop into JL and check em out). Just going to check what your tempted by..... back in a min

piffle - yes, great idea, find some that fit then try and buy them cheaper off the internet

littleapin - aha!!!!!!!!!! yessssssssss! I liked those best of all of them. Accept I dont think they go up to my size which is about an 8 or maybe 8.5. I think these shoes only go upto 41.5 which is 7.5 uk isnt it? I guess I will find out when I go to JL tonight.

thanks for your responses ladies, thats great

Wolfgirl - as an alternative to MBTs have you thought about getting fitted for orthotics which go inside a normal shoe? Cheaper (mine were £45 to fit) and could go in any lace up shoe. Plus side is that they're made specifically to correct problems with your gait, and they can go in any flattish shoe (more flattering).
I have really flat feet too, the orthotics have really helped with that.

Thanks Chonky, I will think about that too. Would I find one in my local yellow pages? However, my main winter shoes are my ART shoes - which have cracked on the undersole now, so will need new winter shoes. For the summer, how would I address that with sandals?

well, i have fairly substantial white trainery ones. i like wearing them with longish jeans/trackies if running.

(am tickled at own reference to running. i only ran once in the last 10 years or so, but i talk about it often. did i mention that id done the 5k run for life last year?)

chonky · 20/05/2008 08:51

It wouldn't solve the sandals problem. Do they do MBT sandals now ?

Best to get a recommendation from a running shop or look up podiatrists in your yellow pages. There are podiatrists who specialise in fitting them.

I just wear my orthotics for running, or for doing decent length walks e.g. dog walking. I guess it depends on how much support your feet need.

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 08:52

point being longness of trouser leg helps to shield the eye from the mahoosivness of shoe.

chonky · 20/05/2008 08:52

Have to say, if teh talk of a cellulite free ass following MBT wearing is true, I could be persuaded

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 08:52

sweaty betty do proper mbt fittings.

Whooosh · 20/05/2008 08:53

I absolutely love mine and now have a blue pair, black pair and a white pair-having been plagued by a bad back for years it is so much better.
I am usually a size 8 but in MBTs I am a 7-definitely get them fitted at JL-they do really need to fit well.

NappiesGalore · 20/05/2008 08:53

hmmm, my arse is not entirely cellulite free. but to be fair, the shoes do have a substantial daily intake of chocolate and wine to contend with, so theyre not doing too badly overall.

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 08:55

LA, I will check them out for real up at JL tonight, and get back to you, tomorrow. awwrrr... size 6. Im 6', so size 8 - 8.5 not too bad. My poor DS tho, he has VERY wide feet and could have actually auditioned for a part as a Hobbit.... really. He is way off the Clarks scale, way pasy H which is there widest width.

I guess if we are investing in a pair of these monsters, then we are not really making desperate fashion statements eh! At the end of the day, I dont think they are hideous looking, do you? And if they are comfy and do me good.... then heck! Im up for that.

I will check out the Earth shoes too, tho

nappiesgalore I used to run, regularly - till I got sick. But there we are, onwards and upwards. Hopefully I will get better one day, enough for me to run again. I watched all the ladies run the Race for Life in Bristol at the weekend, and pined to run again.

I can do the hoola hoop though. Got it going round me neck as well! da nahhhhhh! howz that then!!!!!!!! LOL

Wolfgirl · 20/05/2008 08:59

chonky - yes they do the Jesus style sandals, which is what I wear year in, year out. Sooooooooooooo comfy (I sound like my muttttttthhhhhhhhhherrrrrrrr)
