Perfect sandals no longer sold

Seasalt are no longer selling shoes apart from some slippers. My best sandals were from there, called First Chorus

There's a size 3 on ebay, I'm a size 5.
The reasons they were so suitable for me at work are: toe and heel covered, low heel, buckle closure rather than velcro, quiet sole when walking, comfortable, substantial with a thick strap and the colours were good.
I've checked some other sandal threads on here but I can't see anything as good as these. I bought some Celtic and Co fisherman's sandals, they had a noisy sole plus the leather around the buckle was so soft it tore after a couple of try ons. I bought a pair from Hotter but the velcro strap is too short to tighten properly.
Any ideas of where I could get similar? They don't have to be fisherman style but I do need to cover my toes.

It's worth keeping an eye on the Seasalt eBay outlet, they're still adding footwear from time to time. I've just bought a pair of sandals (a different style) from there. I'm sad Seasalt won't be doing footwear anymore, I've had some really nice shoes from them over the years. They seem to be changing their brand quite a bit and I'm not sure I like their new direction very much.

Yes, some shoes click clack along the floor, my Seasalt boots have a similar sole to those Seasalt sandals and they are very quiet. I would get the Vinted ones as you know your size and they will fit

I've bought some lovely shoes from Seasalt and I'm very disappointed they are no longer selling them. The closest are the Clarks sandals...but I suspect they might be noisy and they just don't look as robust as I'd like.

I quite like these (didn’t know they were called fishermen sandals) but they look like they’d shred your toes if no socks. Are they comfy as I’m quite tempted.

Caterpillargirl23 · 04/05/2025 08:03

Also I had no blisters with the Seasalt sandals.

Loads of good suggestions for alternatives on here, but also do set up a saved search with notifications on Ebay. The right size will come along eventually.

Caterpillargirl23 · 04/05/2025 08:05

@bigboykitty I'll do that thanks.

There's a another style too.

@idontlikefruitpastilles
I like those Dune sandals, the colour, the sole, the buckle, they look substantial. Just wish they had a back.

Sorry if you’ve already considered this, but are you sure yours are beyond repair? If it’s just the soles worn down, a decent cobbler should be able to replace with crepe or something harder wearing.

Jackrussellsaremad · 04/05/2025 08:11

I wonder why Seasalt have stopped doing shoes. That's annoying. Their slip on summer skater shoe trainer things were the best.

I just wanted to say that. No suggestions re Fisherman's sandals I'm afraid.

Seamond · 04/05/2025 08:12

Seasalt footwear sometimes appears on Next clearance pages, I'm quite sad they are not doing footwear anymore especially now as we finally have a shop in our retail park.

Caterpillargirl23 · 04/05/2025 08:13

@Notmynameactually
I'll investigate, they are looking sad and I planned to replace this year (I have had them for 3 or 4 years). I waited and waited for SS to start selling them again this year, nothing, so I emailed and they told me they were no longer doing shoes.

Seasalt said that it was a 'difficult decision', arn't they all these days?

In short, not financially worth it. They were well made shoes, competitively priced with some different colours, not just black and brown.

@Notmynameactually
It's not the soles wearing down, it's the suede getting very thin.

Two slightly offbeat suggestions:

1] Ask Seasalt for the manufacturer's contact details (they were made in India).

2] To broaden your choices, remember you can stick rubber soles onto hard soled shoes. You want Vibram or crepe rubber: crepe is softer than Vibram, and a little thicker. See here, but also Ebay, Amazon, etc. https://joestoes.co.uk/collections/soles

It’s annoying isn’t it as had you’d known you could have bought half a dozen pairs. I’ve wished many times I’d known a non-perishable product was going to be stopped so I could stock up.

The most comfortable sandals I’ve ever had are from Rieker. I’m not sure there are fishermen ones but they do ‘granny’ styles that are still modern looking (and so comfy).

OneBadKitty · 04/05/2025 08:32

I love these ones but they are £££ mamaowl.net/products/angulus-womens-fisherman-sandal-tan

Thanks for your help, I might go for the vinted ones.
The reason the hotter shoes and those with velcro straps are no good is that I can never tighten them properly, but I can with a buckle and if it's leather I can add another notch if needed.

There's the pair that the pp mentioned above, and also a brand new pair for £30 in navy blue.

There’s a company called something like ‘shoe-ropody’ ( a pun on chiropody). Could try them.

I like Jones’ shoes.

Caterpillargirl23 · 04/05/2025 08:42

@OneBadKitty they are gorgeous, so pricey, but perfect.
