Fine, brittle hair. Finally!

I know I'm going to sound like an advert, but... At age 53 I have actually found a product that makes my crap, super-fine, thin, poker-straight hair much, much nicer. I'd actually given up after trying gazillions of shampoos, mousses, sprays over the decades and nothing worked. This one genuinely makes my hair not only look thicker, but also a nicer texture, a bit shiny and seemingly stronger too (less breakage). Anyway... it's Small Talk thickening cream by Bed Head if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the recommendation- I am same age with same hair and always struggle to find something that thickens without making my hair feel weird or sticky. Fingers crossed I get the same result as you!

psuedocream3 · 20/04/2025 12:03

My previous hairdresser always used small talk from tigi bedhead on my hair to thicken it up before a blowout and I agree it's a very good product, probably the only thickening product that works on my hair without giving a weird texture or being unmanageable.

Well if it helps even one person with hair like mine, I'll be glad I posted! For added rubbishness, mine is also mousy-coloured and looks greasy 24 hours after washing. I swear this stuff actually makes it look a slightly brighter colour too. Actual magic in a bottle.

Exactly!

I love this stuff, have used it for years Easter SmileYou can now buy it in Sainsbury's, Boots and Superdrug and it's sometimes discounted. I have a stockpile just in case...😬

henlake7 · 20/04/2025 14:01

awwww, poop! Just checked and it doesnt appear to be vegan.😒
Shame as I could really do with something....my naturally fine hair is becoming practically invisible now in perimeno!

Allseeingallknowing · 20/04/2025 14:05

They sell a yellow topped and a green topped one on Amazon and reviews vary- which one is best?

giraffeproblem · 20/04/2025 14:07

Can you post a picture of it please- I need this product! Don't want to get the wrong one as they are pricey! Thank you

EstherGreenwood63 · 20/04/2025 14:26

🐑🐑🐑 just bought. Less than a fiver on Just My Look...

psuedocream3 · 20/04/2025 14:34

I always remember it as bright pink-ish with a green top. They brought out another version for fine hair but I haven't used that.

Also my hairdresser used to use the queen for a day shine spray and after party smoothing cream from tigi bedhead range to finish off my style, and those are also brilliant products suitable for fine hair.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 20/04/2025 15:44

It's this one!

I bought mine on Amazon. It's got a yellow top - I didn't notice one with a green top tbh. The upside of having fine hair in the first place is that I find I don't need to use very much product, so I think the bottle will last a long time even though it's small!

OP posts:
AllProperTeaIsTheft · 20/04/2025 15:50

Hmm - I just looked back on Amazon and they do have the green top one. The yellow one I have says it's for fine hair. Weirdly, the 240ml bottle is currently cheaper than the 125ml bottle. If that was the case when I bought mine, then I'm an idiot for not noticing!

giraffeproblem · 20/04/2025 16:06

Thank you! Am ordering now!

WrinklesShminkles · 20/04/2025 16:34

The green top is the old packaging. I haven't noticed any difference between the two. Small Talk is for fine hair - there's ony one AFAIK Smile
There is or used to be one that said it made hair shiny but it was full of mica glitter - I didn't like it.

O.M.G!

Mine was delivered this afternoon and I’ve just washed and blow dried my hair.
It’s AMAZING!

Why, oh why did they have to give it such a disgustingly sickly sweet smell though? Still, I can live with that to have fab hair.

Thanks @AllProperTeaIsTheft I’m a similar age to you and had pretty much given up even bothering with my hair because it’s always so lank and flat.

Yayyy! Glad you like it. I quite like the smell, but it is quite strong!

I read this on my way to town today and as it's on offer in Boots (£8) I thought I'd give it a go. I'm so glad you posted @AllProperTeaIsTheft I've had a test run and am really impressed!
Thickening products usually make my hair feel heavy or sticky or just not quite right but with this, it feels thicker at the roots but still clean and "mine". Happy sheep here!

sunshinechaser · 30/04/2025 11:18

I ordered this too and while I wouldn’t say I have big, bouncy hair now it’s a definite improvement. My hair looks and feels thicker but isn’t sticky. I really like the smell. Thanks for posting OP!

LadyGrey2025 · 01/05/2025 08:16

I would recommend Philip Kingsley elasticiser. It’s bit pricey but you can find small sizes to try it. Been using it for years and it’s made my hair so strong. It’s amazing stuff. Have a look on Vinted for a cheap one.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 03/05/2025 08:43

O.M.G.

AllProperTeaIsTheft Thank you thank you thank you!

I raised a sceptical eyebrow but bought it anyway and I genuinely can't believe how effective it is. I even had comments at work.

I feel like I've got my hair back.

Doing a very happy dance here!

Fuckfacetime · 03/05/2025 09:01

Oooo will buy some but I don’t blow dry my hair - shall I put it on dry hair ? Or not bother unless blow drying?

I’d be interested to know this too. I don’t even own a hairdryer…

sunshinechaser · 03/05/2025 10:20

You apply it to wet hair after washing then blow dry so I’d give it a miss if you don’t blow dry your hair.

WrinklesShminkles · 03/05/2025 10:23

I use it then airdry my hair - it still makes it look thicker and the effect lasts.
