Super hydrating skincare for dry skin

I’ve tried many types of “drugstore” type skincare for my dry skin but I simply cannot find a product that hydrates it.

its dry and sensitive, dull, tight and prone to reactivity, inflammation and redness (sore) around the nose chin and mouth when exposed to harsh weathers. It have to result to steroid cream to sort this out.

im not sure if I need a serum, oil or crème. I just want plump radiant skin!

I have really dry sensitive skin which reacts to a lot and I layer products, with a focus on ceramides and hyalauronic acid. At night I use hyaluronic acid serum on damp clean skin (cheap is fine - I use one which is about £5 from inky list), then a cerave moisturiser (white and blue package) then a thicker night cream with ceramides (currently using cetaphil with the green lid) then finish off by slugging with cerave healing balm (you can just use Vaseline) to keep the moisture in. It sounds a lot but takes minutes and my face soaks it up, and has been much less dry/flaky/irritated since I started a year ago.

tiredoflondonbutnotlife · 07/04/2025 14:07

I use Weleda Skin Food. It’s super-thick, almost Vaseline like. It makes your face shiny so I just use it at night but it really helps.

TokyoKyoto · 07/04/2025 14:09

Liz Earle Superskin, the sensitive skin one - but not cheap sadly so I am looking for a replacement

DuskyPink1984 · 07/04/2025 14:11

The best one I have found is Clinique Moisture Surge (the Overnight Mask one).

Imtoooldforallthis · 07/04/2025 14:45

You don't mention budget but I've just bought some Elizabeth Arden capsules and they make my skin feel fab.i got a travel size of 3 different kinds and layered them.

TeaRoseTallulah · 07/04/2025 19:50

I'm the same, I use Moo Goo products and also CeraVe hydrating wash and weirdly I find the CeraVe lotion better than the cream.

fatgirlswims · 07/04/2025 20:56

I don’t have dry but I do have dehydrated skin. I have splashed out in a bundle from byoma (through the website as get a discount if you buy 4 products). Early days but my skin looks heaps better.

Blacksheep77 · 07/04/2025 21:00

Farmacy Honey Halo is AMAZING!

Juneey · 07/04/2025 21:04

Same here, the Byoma Barrier repair cream is great.

Sounds similar to my skin. I've tried loads of stuff and finally landed on Lush - Aqua Marina face wash ( not harsh and really calms redness), Breath of Fresh Air spray (love this and sometimes use a spritz on its own), then Celeste moisturiser (light but actually makes my skin feel soft all day).

If you’ve got sensitive skin I wouldn’t use this, it’s really heavily fragranced which is really irritating (and can be drying)

vegantart · 07/04/2025 22:22

Invest in a Korean skincare range, it has transformed my skin.

Minesnotahighhorse · 07/04/2025 23:05

My skin is similar and a Harley St dermatologist recommended using Curel, La Roche Posay Toleriane or Avene products which are all fragrance free. The LRP Toleriane Riche moisturiser is the only thing that really works for hydrating my skin. I didn’t get on with Cerave at all!

LyndaLaHughes · 07/04/2025 23:17

Zoe Bee creams. There is a reason why they are always selling out. I strongly advise looking at their Facebook page or reviews because I’ve never seen anything so massively praised by anyone who uses any of the range.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 08/04/2025 18:09

Have you tried dr jart ceramidin? It’s really good.

fatgirlswims · 08/04/2025 21:26

Thank all I’m going to try LRP TOLERAINE riche and a serum

Hi - I came across your post when I was using the search function for the same thing you were looking for. Can you say how you are getting on with LRP?
I've tried so many moisturisers at this stage, I don't know where to turn to next. TIA.

I second this. And generally quite affordable too

I spent quite a lot of time searching forums for a Korean skincare routine. I joined forums and got advice and considered the products well before buying them.

I bought three or four products and I can honestly say none of them were good.

WouldYouEverCOMEON · 01/05/2025 01:57

I use The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil, followed by Weleda Night Cream. During the day I use The Ordinary B Oil, then switch between Weleda Skin Food and Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream.

My skin is really plumped up and dewy since I've been following this regimen for a couple of months.

That’s a shame. What did you try, if you don’t mind me asking?

I can't remember them all as I bought quite a few when starting the skincare regime but Illiyoon moisturiser and centella ampoule were the two I had the highest hopes for (both were very poor imo).

bluecampbell · 01/05/2025 23:25

I was sent a sample of Yuavari Face Oil from the Ayurvedic Experience. All I can say is bliss! I have dry skin on my cheeks but oily on my t zone and this oil is perfect. It soaks in and makes my skin feel so so soft and smells gorgeous. It plumps up my skin and seems also to even the tone. I put it on slightly damp skin and then use any spf etc over the top. I’ve tried loads of skin creams and this is by far the best I’ve found.
