Super hydrating skincare for dry skin

I’ve tried many types of “drugstore” type skincare for my dry skin but I simply cannot find a product that hydrates it.

its dry and sensitive, dull, tight and prone to reactivity, inflammation and redness (sore) around the nose chin and mouth when exposed to harsh weathers. It have to result to steroid cream to sort this out.

im not sure if I need a serum, oil or crème. I just want plump radiant skin!

Avene skin soothing cream for my horrifically dry, sensitive skin. For cleanser Cetaphil, also le Roche posay spf. I feel like I can breathe afterwards

OK, don't give up the special creams with technical-sounding ingredients.

But ...

... maybe also, or sometimes:

  1. Do an 'oil cleanse' instead of cleanser, toner, micellar water & whatnot. Use olive oil from the kitchen, a flannel and hot water.
  2. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) all over your face and neck. It's sticky - leave it for a bit, then pat lightly with tissues or a cloth so you're left with a slippery sheen. Sleep in it.
Total cost about £8, will last two months of nightly use.

I don’t have dry but I do have dehydrated skin. I have splashed out in a bundle from byoma (through the website as get a discount if you buy 4 products). Early days but my skin looks heaps better.

I’ve been deeply underwhelmed by Byoma products so far. I’ve tried the oil, jelly cleanser and cleansing balm. Which products have improved your skin?

I agree with you re Byoma.

I’m puzzled as to the high recommendations about this brand which I presume is due to marketing only. It is in the same category as Bubble imo.

ohhh so for Byoma I like the jelly cleanser, the brightening serum and the moisturiser. I dont like the retinol oil, that’s just a bit pointless imo.

I do have dehydrated rather than dry skin though but it’s keeping it clear and looking pretty decent.

I have been using the La roche posay moisturiser and its good for dry skin. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

Right quick update

I was in the US when I first posted and was on a cruise which limited things. I went to Marshall (TK maxx) and found Eucerien Skin Balance night cream with ceramide and Cica so I got that because of the ingredients an it was the dream for my sore skin! it was $6.99 and I did a quick google after - it RRP is $22 and you can’t buy it in the UK.

when I got back I found a new range from simple and 22% Rich cream with ceramides and cica (I think it has cica) and it was £6.66 so bought that

today I splurged and got the Dr Jart Ceramidin cream as it was in the outlet with a hefty discount.

im still not sure what is wrong with my skin but its not as bad as it was.

any other suggestions

Better to check with a derm

I have very dry skin.

I double wash with Hada Labo foaming cleanser (I get a lot of dead skin so I also slough it off with a cloth in between) £9.39
Sukin hydrating mist toner to get my face damp £5.93
Hado Labo super hyaluronic acid, collagen, and retinol £14.22
Weleda Skin Food (the rich one, not the light one) £9.92

Prices all from Amazon.

I use Dr Jart Tiger Grass colour corrector and maybe a little bit of Urban Decay tinted moisturiser. Foundation is too dry so I very rarely use that.

I also find it useful to wash my face only once a day. If I'm home for a few days, I won't wash my face at all to let it rest.

Also I've used the Ceramidin cream from Dr Jart. But for me, it seemed to have too much silicone which gives me even worse dead skin build up.

Are you in the UK @UmberMoose? I really feel I do need to see a dermatologist but the access is so awful to healthcare in the UK I’d have to go private and that would be £££

and would have no idea how to go about it

Tried it and it’s too harsh and not hydrating enough :(

I actually love the Dr Jart ceramidin it feel super soft so I hope I don’t get any silicone build up and it lasts more than an hour or so! The simple and the eucerin are also fine.

i also get sore and redness around nose and mouth - usually in the winter with the cold weather.

If you're getting cracks in the corner of your mouth, that could be a vitamin deficiency. Look up angular chellitis and see if that's like what you get
