I need something warm and practical for watching the kids play sports ect.. But also want to look groomed and pulled together.

Is this too fussy?

No it's not too fussy and looks really practical as well as stylish. If tan is a good colour for you then go for it!

TheLongRider · 16/03/2025 19:04

It's got a lot going on. Personally I don't like the exposed zips and the contrast piping. The jacket has three colours in it, the main fabric, the piping and the hardware. That makes it hard to match/tone with other items.

I usually love quilting but not done like this, it looks a little try hard. I do like the shape but that's about it.

WonkyDonkeyWonkeyDonkey · 16/03/2025 19:06

I think it’s really fussy. Asymmetrical, quilted, highlighted exposed zip.

Totally agree with this. There’s far too much going on, and for a petite item that’s worse as it makes it look even more busy.

glitterturd · 16/03/2025 19:55

From my experiences at the sides of rugby fields over the years I would say it's quite fussy and probably not fit for purpose.

AFrankExchangeofViews · 16/03/2025 20:57

Looks like luggage

TheChosenTwo · 16/03/2025 20:58

It’s very… busy. Not my cup of tea at all, sorry!

dudsville · 16/03/2025 21:04

I don't like it in that it's not a style I would wear, but I really appreciate it for it's atypical appearance. The usual run of about 3 coat styles that people tend to wear is boring. Boring is fine, but this one is interesting.

ThePoshUns · 16/03/2025 21:14

Not very practical. Having been a rugby mum back in the day, I’d recommend a proper down coat from Uniqlo or an outdoor brand.

PrincessOfPreschool · 16/03/2025 21:16

I think it's a bit show offy for the side of a sports' field.

Rabbitreef · 16/03/2025 21:18

You’ll stick out like a sore thumb wearing that. Just relax and look for a practical outdoor branded coat

Odras · 16/03/2025 21:20

Thank you. I wasn’t really sure about it. I’m looking for a slimline quilted petite coat. Puffy ones make me look like an Oompa Loompa

This isn't to my taste at all. I think it looks a bit tacky (sorry!)

I spend a lot of time on the sidelines of various pitches watching my kids play sports - I don't think this will keep you warm or dry. In my experience, after 5 minutes in driving rain, that is far more important than looking groomed and pulled together. I'd rather spend money on something designed for being outdoors in all weather.

EwwSprouts · 16/03/2025 21:22

Maybe for springtime but when you're going to be there for a couple of hours through the winter warmth wins every time. That jacket will not be warm so you would be choosing style over substance, but if you love the style it's not too out there. Top tip neoprene wellies!

Iwiicit · 16/03/2025 21:43

It's absolutely hideous.

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 16/03/2025 21:45

Looks very impractical .... style is very personal but to stand around in the cold watching kids I think you'll be freeing cold, wet and miserable wearing this

soupyspoon · 16/03/2025 21:48

Gosh I love it. Opened the picture and thought thats awful and now I love it

What a turn around

Im 5.5, too tall for petite?

I like the olive.

FeelinTwentySixPointTwo · 16/03/2025 21:49

It's a bit Per Una. Too much going on all at once.

DeathMetalMum · 16/03/2025 21:54

Style isn't to my taste. The coat does not look practical for watching kids play sport. From experience you will freeze to death. I have a down jacket from Mountain warehouse which looks a similar length to that jacket and I've even been cold in that. I'm trying to find a longer length coat but I'm 5'1 and the fully long coats are too long.

soupyspoon · 16/03/2025 21:55

Are you in Ireland OP, Ive got thr UK site open and they do it in cream there, not sure if they do on the Irish site.

Gundogday · 16/03/2025 22:01

It’s a nice coat, but doesn’t say it’s waterproof, which is essential if you’re going to be watching rugby, hockey or football outside. Also I question its warmth-ness (is that a word?).

As others have said, go for so thing practical and warm. Look at the Seasalt coats or those from brands such as Craghopper, Jack Wolfskin , Mountain Warehouse, ie clothing designed for the outdoors rather than fashion. I’ve seen quite a few people wear the ‘dry robe ’ type coats also.

IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle · 16/03/2025 22:06

It's very fussy and doesn't look as if it would be that warm. If you want my opinion, I think it's awful.

But regardless of what anyone says I think if you have to ask on here for opinions for something you're thinking of buying, it's not something you really want.

WonkyDonkeyWonkeyDonkey · 16/03/2025 22:11

Maybe try a Barbour. I don’t think anyone thinks that puffy coats make them look good. People wear them because they are warm.

Doggymummar · 16/03/2025 22:16

Live the green I E, nit the tan tho. The cream is nice as well

soupyspoon · 16/03/2025 22:21

Does Karen Millen come up big or small?
