I need something warm and practical for watching the kids play sports ect.. But also want to look groomed and pulled together.

Is this too fussy?

This isn't to my taste at all. I think it looks a bit tacky (sorry!)

I spend a lot of time on the sidelines of various pitches watching my kids play sports - I don't think this will keep you warm or dry. In my experience, after 5 minutes in driving rain, that is far more important than looking groomed and pulled together. I'd rather spend money on something designed for being outdoors in all weather.

My husband has this. It's marketed as unisex. He says it's like wearing central heating. Aside from the practicality from a purely aesthetic view point I think it's far more stylish than the Karen Millen jacket.

The Champion Jacket - Crimson

The Champion Coat is the ultimate piece for colder weather, taking advantage of the natural properties of wool (lining) and dry wax outer to protect from the elements.  For this edition we have used a modern dry wax from famed mill, Halley Stevensons a...

I’d love this type of thing but I really need a petite coat as coats really drown me.

Thank you. I wasn’t really sure about it. I’m looking for a slimline quilted petite coat. Puffy ones make me look like an Oompa Loompa

Puffa coats make everyone look like Oompa Loompas but they’re warm - it’s kids sport not London Fashion week - I judge people who are badly dressed for the situation / weather - I don’t care if they’re fat / thin but I almost laughed out loud at someone in fluffy sliders at recent rugby match.

blueIKEAbag · 16/03/2025 23:09

You need something that’s big enough for layers and hat, scarf and gloves underneath, something with a hood, it should come at least to your knees, have big pockets and be each to wash. And it should be really warm.

Just buy a petite fit puffer jacket.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 17/03/2025 00:17

I personally like it but it would be for cooler days and not cold

LunaNorth · 17/03/2025 03:10

Get a Dryrobe. Lean into the unfashionable.

Tbrh · 17/03/2025 03:14

I like it, but I don't like the colour

Neveranynamesleft · 17/03/2025 03:16

You need more than a petite coat stood by a pitch or you will be weather beaten. It isn't a fashion show, get something longer, with a hood, waterproof and wind proof.

Or a Wild Moose. Waterproof, long, warm.

regardless of price this looks expensive but it also looks really good. get it 👍🏾

GarlicStyle · 17/03/2025 03:32

I think it's amazing - very 'smart' in the truest sense, and an honestly unusual take on padded jackets. I also think you should get a Dryrobe, though, or something from an outdoor specialist.

I love the idea of wearing central heating, @IHaveAlwaysLivedintheCastle, but £550 is a bit of a jump from £150!

OP, I used to do this when I was young and, frankly, idiotic: I felt I had to be well-presented and attractive all the time, which led to my turning up to outdoor race meetings and the like in outfits that would be suitable for a day shopping the January sales but NOT standing around a wet field for hours! I'm quite sure I caused a fair amount of mirth among the well-wrapped and waterproofed regulars. Don't be that woman 🙂

I think it's horrible. Try Barbour. I am very petite and get on very well with that brand.

soupyspoon · 17/03/2025 08:02

Ive ordered it in olive. Although I dont have to attend kids sports in it so it might be ok for me. I'll see what it looks like. Not happy you have to pay for delivery AND returns.

soupyspoon · 20/03/2025 19:32

Just updating this. That jacket looks horrendous. They come up big as well, it would have been the size 10 for me. Im not petite by any stretch of the imagination, 5'5 and 34 inch waist!!

Will return, I ordered the 12 and 10.

CharlotteCChapel · 20/03/2025 20:09

I like it apart from the colour. It reminds me of toddler nappies.

Having done my time on the touchline it also doesn't look waterproof enough. Someone on another threat mentioned New Forest Clothing and they have some suitable jackets with great reductions.

abracadabra1980 · 20/03/2025 20:11

I love quilting but this is too fussy for me.

pinkyredrose · 20/03/2025 20:11

It's not too fussy but it's blooming ugly. Sorry Op. The colour is revolting, struggling to see what you could wear with it.

pinkyredrose · 20/03/2025 20:12

Shetlands · 16/03/2025 19:01

No it's not too fussy and looks really practical as well as stylish. If tan is a good colour for you then go for it!

It's not really tan though

£550!! You'd expect it to make you dinner, take you on holiday and give you a seeing to for that price!

Absolutely blown my mind that anyone would pay £550 for such a basic, looking jacket. That's madness.
