Just that really - I think there are little things I can buy, it's not much too big but is so loose that it fell off into (thankfully) my bag the other day...

so any advice for anything that does (or does not) work??

Hair band

stopringingme · 11/03/2025 18:38

There used to be a little band that you got from a jeweller that fitted inside the ring - I don't know if they still exist, you might be able to get one online now.

I am wearing my late Mums wedding ring in front of mine as I have lost weight and my wedding ring was falling off and I didn't want to risk losing it.

I’ve recently lost 4st so my engagement ring is hanging off me. I bought this things from Amazon and they work perfectly.

Sorry for awful Amazon link… amzn.eu/d/hWkS5Le

BeretRaspberry · 11/03/2025 18:50

I got some of the huggies things linked above but they just feel so uncomfortable and awkward. I wish I could get used to mine.

TheSeaOfTranquility · 11/03/2025 18:57

I wear the loose ring nearest my body and then put on a tighter ring in the same metal, on to the same finger. This stops the loose ring slipping off.

OddBoots · 11/03/2025 18:58

I tend to go for getting another smaller ring to wear next to it as a 'keeper'.

Yes these work really well.

I lost weight a few years ago and had this problem. I took the rings to the jewellers to be resized.

Talisin · 11/03/2025 20:15

I use these from Claires

Eminybob · 12/03/2025 04:00

I'm holding out for DH to buy me an eternity ring to keep my wedding and engagement rings on following 6.5 stone weight loss.

I won't hold my breath I've been hinting for one since DC1 was born 10 years ago.

In the mean time I'll try one of the things linked above. Thanks!

ForFunGoose · 12/03/2025 05:01

A jeweller can add a piece of the metal inside the band to tighten it. It’s cheaper and less expensive than resizing.

That's what I do too.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 12/03/2025 05:13

You either need to get a jeweler to add a small gold ball on the inside or resize

OR
wear a smaller ring on top so big ring is closest to body. (I do this as quote to resize was £££)

pinkdelight · 12/03/2025 05:26

Just get a jeweller to 'size' mine when they get loose, is there a reason that's not possible?

mutleyschuckle · 12/03/2025 06:14

Our local jewellers resized my silver wedding/engagement ring. I started off using the spring things linked above but they weren't that comfy. The jeweller only charged £20 & it feels so much more secure now

Shellingbynight · 12/03/2025 08:14

I lost weight and my wedding ring kept falling off so I had it resized, it wasn't very expensive. Is there a reason you don't want to do that?

The other option to put a well fitting ring above it as a 'keeper'.

I had one of those 'gold balls' (mentioned above) put inside inside the band on another ring and the feel of it drove me mad, I stopped wearing it.

Sherararara · 12/03/2025 08:16

Just get it resized at a jeweller? Or am I missing something?

Anonmousse · 12/03/2025 08:23

As pp have said a jeweller can add beads to the inside of a ring, or resize to make smaller

Although I appreciate sometimes your fingers can fluctuate during the year (my own rings often feel quite loose in the winter, but not enough to fall off)

WifeofBathtime · 12/03/2025 08:44

In the 'old days' people used to wind some cotton thread around the ring (the bit where you can't see it , underneath) to make it smaller.

originaldomesticgodess · 12/03/2025 09:16

Ring Snuggies. They take a little bit of getting used to but work well. I only needed a couple of 'coils' around my engagement ring but it was enough to stop it continuously spinning round so I was stone to palm.

This is the issue I have - hands are often freezing and much smaller. But then swell in the summer!

EspanaPorfavor · 12/03/2025 12:48

I lost a lot of weight but worry about residente in case i put it back on. Also, don’t they take away some of the gold to resize?

SabbatWheel · 12/03/2025 13:43

I had a keeper ring made when I lost a lot of weight, as my ring is Welsh gold and I didn’t want any taken from it.
The keeper is about 1.5mm wide and is 18ct same as my main ring.
