Never found a flattering pair of jeans - apple shape and feeling rubbish!

Please please help! I am getting quite down about this, as ridiculous as it sounds.

I have a 3 year old and never lost my baby weight - I'm left with an apple shape, so big tummy, slim legs and big bust (36DD/E). My tummy is quite pronounced and I just can't find any jeans to flatter. Any I buy seem to be too tight on the waist and/or just baggy and unflattering on my smaller bum and legs.

What sort of style should I be looking for and any brand suggestions? Please help! I really want some decent jeans for spring. Thank you

Im an apple and quite a flabby apple on the stomach, and I try to steer clear of these soft stretchy type of jeans, I need old fashioned hard thick fabric that holds me in a bit. I havent found anything perfect but the best is mom jeans from Matalan, nice shape

I think this is a big mistake I've made. Always looked for soft and stretchy but actually that might be making my flab look more obvious?!

Big tummy, slim straight hips / legs. I've got Tu jeans, high waisted flares, which balance out my shape and are very comfortable. Might be worth experimenting with high waist versions.

Do you have a link to these please?

Well it does mine, It looks like I have a cushion stuck down the front of them

Plus like someone else said I have a really really flat bottom so the combination is awful

Yasmin new look super skinny

I get all mine from Vinted

Seems we all have the same problem getting the perfect fit- Even if they look good when you try them on after 12 hours they often tell a different story!

I ordered these yesterday, they have some elastic in the back of the waistband!

I'll let you know how I get on! 😀

The Levi's rib cage jeans are fabulous and the new ones with buttons at the back for people with a big waist to thigh ratio are fabulous too. All over tik tik and insta.

I have the magic shaping high waisted slim flare jeans, from M&S in indigo. I think they are very flattering and balance out my shape.

Hedgeclutter · 09/03/2025 21:20

I’ve got M and S The Eva bootcut. I’ve also got a Siena pair. They’re the best I’ve found.

Unfortunately I wanted some jeans I could tuck tops into etc - feel like maternity jeans are quite restricted and I would just have to wear long tops etc? :( I'm only 33 and I hate the thought of looking frumpy

Try not your daughter’s jeans. They have a lot of different designs and they’re nicely made.

Apple here too. I have never found M&S jeans fit, they are too tight and restrictive and high waisted.

I'd look at something like this - mid rise, slim-ish, not too fashion forward so doesn't require a whole new wardrobe to accompany them.

I've had a few m&S ones but found they went really shapeless and sizing was off sometimes

I can really relate to this, but haven't really realised before the soft denim might be contributing - thank you

If it's any consolation at all, I'm a juicy pear and I find jeans shopping the work of the devil too. Good luck.

Anjelika · 09/03/2025 22:03

@Doggymummar isn't this video aimed at the exact opposite shape to an apple? It's for people with a small waist.

BambooScaffolding · 09/03/2025 22:39

Similar body, I find anything too narrow or slim fitting emphasises the stomach if I tuck something in. I save those for wearing something baggier on top.

Usually I need some width or a flare/bootcut to balance out. Gap use to do Long and Lean which for me were the perfect jean, mine are years old and still going strong, so maybe worth checking Vinted.

In shops now Uniqlo Wide Straight Jeans work best for me
www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E464744-000/00?colorDisplayCode=64&sizeDisplayCode=024&pldDisplayCode=033

But I would also suggest you play around with tops, tucking in may not be working for you at the moment, maybe try...
Longer cropped slightly boxy but with a wide neck or v neck tee-shirts.
Vest tucked in but a soft, loose shirt over the top
Tops with more fitted waists that go over the jeans but still give some definition
Also if the wide leg jeans are making you feel huge try cropped pairs or straight ones rolled up

I have a similar shape to Op and I was going to recommend Eva too. I’ll try Sienna now also; thanks for the heads up!

Thank you everyone, have ordered the carrot and harper jeans from m&S for now as others were OOS in my size but planning to order loads until I find the perfect pair...I'll report back!
