FatFace kids clothes gone- where to shop now.......

lezsucks · 09/02/2025 21:59

Found out today that FatFace are no longer doing childrens clothing. They were a wardrobe staple for my kids, particularly for quality hoodies and tops for my daughter. Where do I go now? They like generally practical clothing, like tops and hoodies, jeans / trousers. I use boden ( but they've gone a bit weird), used to buy joules but their range has also gone a bit odd. My 8 year old daughter likes pretty, practical clothing but HATES M&S range. Doesn't want cropped tops, doesn't do black clothes ( they are miserable mummy), but not too bright either. Ethically I'm not big into fast fashion, like things that last them well.
My son has lived in fat face shorts for the last 7 years, any ideas who does similar cargo shorts? Could generally get 2 seasons out of them, being worn continuously all summer.
And while I've got my own wee thread: Anyone know where does similar waterproofs to polarn o pyret as their waterproofs no longer go bigger than age 10.... Honestly I've got money to spend, just can't find where to clothe my children

Thanks is advance for any advice.

I was in Fatface today in the hope there were some kids bits hanging about- nothing. Had a mooch round the ladies section, the quality is rubbish compared to previous. Nothing really jumping of the rails at me at all, previously there is always something that grabs my attention for a payday purchase.
I’ve ordered a couple of hoodies in lazy jacks 50% off sale so shall see how they compare. Like the fact it’s a small British owned company

I'm gutted as their coats were wonderful, esp if bought in sale and they did wonderful winter pjs with brushed cotton bottoms. Fortunately DD is heading to high school this year and the local girls all favour black and sportswear so its off to boring fashion land we go.

Ive just pulled aload of FF stuff from my charity bag and will pop on Vinted. I usually only sell boden and frugi but it looks like there will be a demand.

I had a look on the Fat Face website today and my god it's awful. So bloody drab, shapeless and dated. Awful styling too.

It used to be such a great brand, with good quality items.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 16/02/2025 11:38

Crew Clothing
Similar to "old" Joules and Boden, and FF. Good natural fibres.
Strangely overlooked.

Kite Clothing too

MumonabikeE5 · 16/02/2025 11:59

i had only recently discovered fat face kids and thought it great .
we also buy some monsoon stuff- there has been some good cord trousers and sweatshirts,
it’s not all party dresses which is what I had assumed.
the boys wear also includes fun bright colours.
lindex?

What size are your kids in? I'm having a similar problem. My tall but not overly wide just turned 6 year old (boy) is in 10-11 clothes and it's all black, grey and gamer slogans since hes tipped over the 9/10 age bracket. 🙄

Any ideas welcome!

We like Villervalla for colourful, every day staples that are practical and wear well. Depending on the size you're looking for, Toby Tiger is good, Frugi are ok (quality has reduced from what it used to be). Kite clothing are also good and the shorts may be what you're looking for for your son.
Didriksons for waterproofs.

Edited

monsoon boys wear is bright and fun my ten year old doesn’t want to wear the colors you describe either .
he doesn’t want to wear girls clothes but he is confused by why shops like Next (which younger boys wear includes fun colours and non video game character designs) is no longer good .

H&M do stripes and solids in good colours sometiems
Uniqlo
Lindex
Benneton
Boden (although now my son finds some of it too childish, but that wouldn’t be the case for your)

m&s and next which are my price point are now dead to us.

vinted for some of the pricier designer labels

Universityconfused · 16/02/2025 12:11

That’s such a shame. Mine are now grown up but their summer wardrobes were mainly fat face and those t-shirts and hoodies lasted and when they grew out of them, they continued to be worn by younger nieces and nephews.

mumbleberry · 16/02/2025 21:36

Agreed re Lindex 👍

ScandiBugs for basics, big age range & organic www.scandibugs.co.uk/collections/scandibugs-own-label

Also have a look at POP in John Lewis www.johnlewis.com/brand/polarn-o.-pyret/_/N-1z13rm4 lovely but not cheap

Late to this thread but just went to buy new stuff for my kids and noticed it’s not there anymore on the ff website. So many lovely, comfy hoodies that have gone through many seasons and gorgeous practical outfits. Gutted.

lezsucks · 03/03/2025 00:10

Yip, just disappeared and they confirmed by email . There’s some brilliant suggestions on the thread. Lazy jacks was a great one 😃. Fatface was quite unique though. I’m boycotting their adult wear cause they’ve stopped kids stuff but tbh it won’t be a challenge cause they’ve gone weird.

Have just looked at their new in dresses, and they've stuck their plus sized model in the most unflattering lime green monstrosity, it makes her look like she has really saggy boobs (she doesn't it's the way the dress hangs).

They've definitely gone weird.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/03/2025 09:21

@VeryDeepEverything Lands End still make kids clothes, but are not currently selling them in the uk. There's some tax issue. If you dive into their website, they are hoping to sell them in the UK again.

mogtheexcellent · 03/03/2025 09:28

Had our first real life shopping trip with DD this weekend. Depressing. Spent a lot in New Look and a bit in Primark but mostly colours are lacking. Shes nearly 11. I think at this age girls have a much better variety than boys though.

fashionqueen0123 · 03/03/2025 10:29

I went in a FatFace store in half term, and within the space of 10 minutes, 3 people had asked where the kids clothes were!

Birchwoods · 03/03/2025 10:31

Crew Clothing have some nice bits, always colourful and age appropriate.

RkSo · 04/03/2025 12:37

I'm so gutted about this too. Crew clothing is probably a similar quality I'd say, but not quite the earthy vibes at fatface, but still nice clothes I'd say. The fatface kids coats are so good, so annoyed about this!!

Ophy83 · 04/03/2025 12:51

M&S isn't all spray painted jeans! There's actually generally a lot of nice normal jeans/shorts/dresses/hoodies there.

My dd9 has outgrown boden which tends to still do toddler styles for tweens. She likes sports brands, M&S, Uniqlo, Zara, Next, smAll Saints, occasionally Hollister. Her favourite thing is a taylor swift hoodie I got from one of those online print stores. DS12 is similar, mostly Uniqlo but also likes Reiss for smart special occasion shirts or jumpers.

lezsucks · 05/03/2025 14:47

It was more about clothing stores that sold similar to fat face.

I'm not sure I could imagine Fatface selling a sweatshirt with "antisocial mood please don't text me again" emblazoned on it. Which I spied in M&S yesterday, definitely not what not my sunny natured DD8 who loves life and people, and doesn't want a mobile phone would love to wear. Everyone is unique though, and what one child wants to wear another doesn't and that was the appeal of fatface it was something different.

That really is a shame. I loved their boys clothes.

Jazzjazzyjulez · 05/03/2025 14:51

LL Bean ship to the UK and I find them great for kids.

Jazzjazzyjulez · 05/03/2025 14:54

Lots of great brands on Mamaowl too - mostly ethical too.

Londonmummy66 · 05/03/2025 15:00

Roxy and patagonia are probably worth a look. Anne's Cottage often has sale items from these sorts of brands

I just scrolled through m&s online store's age 8-9 tops and yes they do have that sweater. But the majority of clothes are in sunny colours, no slogans. Online they also sell frugi, monsoon, polarn y pyret and indeed fat face.

Cheepcheepcheep · 05/03/2025 19:19

Can’t believe I’m only just finding this now! Did a bit of a haul in the January sales for summer gear for the kids but really wish I’d stocked up on winter now. Loved Fatface kids.

I refuse to buy kids Boden new but have a lot of Vinted stuff from them so suspect I’ll be adding FF to that list.

hedgehoggle · 05/03/2025 19:24

Little green radicals? Not sure what age they go up to though
