Buttery soft bras

Yes ok, I've been caught out by an ad for bras on Instagram - totally sucked in by the InstaSpeak "buttery soft, seamless, perfectly soft , no lines".

It's shit. And it'll cost me more to send it back.

But I really want a soft and seamless buttery soft bra for my 52 year old boobs because frankly, they are worth it. No underwire necessary and I'm a meagre B nearly C cup. Support obviously needed but in a buttery soft way!! From fastening fine because I rather love the racer style back.

Will I ever find my dream?

What dress size are you? As a rough guide your band size is usually 20 inches larger than your dress size so if you are a size 14 you are likely to find a 34 band is suitable. This is only a rough guide though.

If you are a size 12 and wearing a 38 inch band size you are likely to be wearing a band that is too large and a cup size that is too small.

I sound like I know what I am talking about, but everything I know is from mumsnet.

I didn't know that. Or you can walk into a really good bra fitter, take your top off and they'll reach the right conclusion by eye without a tape measure in sight.

Thank you @beetr00 & @RampantIvy I shall try their guidelines later today. Whenever i measure & always come out at 38b, but I don't understand how the cup sizes don't remain standard per band size...beginning to think I might need an 38a which isn't easy to find!

Apparently most women wear a back size too big and a cup size too small. I certainly used to. For context, I have really small boobs. For years I wore a 36A, and then I read the bra intervention threads on MN and became convinced I was in the wrong size. Measured according to the MN method and now I wear a 32C which fits so much better! But a 32C has much smaller cups than a 38C would do. You might need to experiment a bit as honestly, I have really small breasts and fill the cups in a 32C.

Yes. Our local independent lingerie shop does this. She just asks your dress size as well.

@Tygertiger I changed my bra size after reading the bra intervention threads as well.

What magic is this bra interventions thread? Would anyone be able to link to it please (search function doesn't work for me) 🙏

I'm a dress size 14 these days but my 34b bras are all too tight...I know I need to spend some time in a shop trying things on properly but I hate trying on clothes in shop and they don't seem to have many in stock anymore (or so it seems from my last foray into a lingerie section looking for new bras).

I do live near a rigby & pellar but then I'd feel obliged to buy a bra and I simply don't have that kind of money right now lol

@WannaWannaSweetie apologies for hi-jacking your thread a bit - not my intention (but this is really helpful!)

M&S 'body' bras are really nice.

WhereAreWeNow · 26/01/2025 19:10

Uniqlo cropped bra tops are super comfy and soft and give light support and good shape.

BringMeTea · 26/01/2025 19:30

Recently discovered Anita bras. So happy. So soft and comfortable while providing support.

podthedog · 26/01/2025 19:34

Marks and Spencer have a couple - look for opaline colours and you will find then.

podthedog · 26/01/2025 19:36

Re bras, you measure under your bust and that is your size. Not sure how the cup is worked out.

But it usually goes like this;

I was 32 B
Now I wear 30 DD or 30 E if I've more weight on me or the size comes up small.

I recommend Bella Rosa bra analysis, she does online.

podthedog · 26/01/2025 19:40

I always wear support, otherwise it's all a bit pancakes. I can wear a very well padded sports bra on its own as it goes me a busty monoboob, but day to day I find it creases my delicate décolletage 😂

bluegreygreen · 26/01/2025 19:48

Second M&S Body for soft but supportive non-wired bras

WannaWannaSweetie · 26/01/2025 20:31

You lot are good, BUT ARE THEY BUTTERY SOFT??!

M&S flexifit wired t-shirt bras

Soft and light weight and give support

LarkinAboot · 26/01/2025 20:35

Phineyj · 26/01/2025 12:53

Sloggi Zero Feel are good.

Came here to say this

Gettingbysomehow · 26/01/2025 11:23

Boody bras are awful if you are older. Total waste of money. Unless you have perky boob's they won't give you any support at all.

And the pill terribly from the first wear. Totally second Gettingbysomehow
