right, the wedding dress saga continues, and I have about 24 hours left, which do I wear and what with?!

Ok, had a hormonal strop and canned the topshop dress I was going to wear (for informal teeny ceremony on Thursday) and have now bought this top and this dress from Monsoon. Neither are maternity wear specifically but they both look alright.

Just not sure of the dress is a bit too OTT for a wedding that isn't going to be very weddingy. Plus it's quite expensive and dunno if I'd wear it much again.

The kaftan might be more practical but I dunno what to put on my bottom half and I need shoes!

And I literally have tomorrow afternoon to sort myself out, and then that's it.

Please help, any tips?

Personally I'd go with the dress because you can dress it up or down.
If it's not very weddingy then pair woth sandals, shrug cardigan type thing?

TheBlonde · 06/05/2008 17:58

I think the dress is lovely
I don't think it will be OTT

Do you have any silver sandals?

oliviaelanasmum · 06/05/2008 17:58

Oh i agree with Honor.. the dress is lovely

moodlumthehoodlum · 06/05/2008 18:00

Dress - definatley. Its great. And altho its a teeny ceremony you'll still be looking at the photos in 60 years' time.

TheFallenMadonna · 06/05/2008 18:00

The dress is lovely. Both are lovely in fact, but if you go for the dress you don't have to stress about what to wear with it.

And I think the shift from floral to white shows you do want it to be a bit weddingy.

Silver sandals?

Buda · 06/05/2008 18:00

I like the dress too. Much nicer than the Topshop one tbh.

Silver sandals/pumps and a little cardi/shrug type thing and you are set.

jingleyjen · 06/05/2008 18:02

I would go for it with the dress it is very pretty but not OTT. also depending where you are in the country thursday os supposed to be a scorcher
lovely lovely lovely....

S1ur · 06/05/2008 18:04

The dress is beautiful go with that

With strappy sandals? and a sweet necklace

You can also dress it down with brown chunky beads and flat sandals and wear it all summer.

MrsTittleMouse · 06/05/2008 18:06

Ooo, that dress is lovely. Silver sandals would look gorgeous with it.

fishie · 06/05/2008 18:06

dress definitely and you will have lovely weather to wear it in hooray.

bohemianbint · 06/05/2008 18:07

Wow, that's a consensus! The only thing I was worried about was getting my milk bottles out, and don't really want to do the fake tan thing with sandals as will probably bugger it up and end up looking like a badly scrubbed potato. Also didn't want to look too overdressed for just going to the theatre afterwards, but it is loooovely.

Right, going to have a quick virtual scurry round for shrugs/sandals. Oh, and just checked the 5 day forecast, supposed to be 23 degrees on Thursday, yay!

(Make up's going to be the next thing, you know...)

Perfect....I wasn't that keen on the Top Shop dress if I am being honest

This is so nice and you could always dye it bright pink and use it again in the future....obviously not to get married again

mazzystar · 06/05/2008 18:08

wear the dress

you will look gorgeous

it is stil your wedding, however lvw key you are playing it

and you will wear it loads in years to come and feel nice and sentimental

go for the dress - it's lovely - and have a fabulous day!

bohemianbint · 06/05/2008 18:14

Ha - now you all tell me bout the Topshop one! I tried it on the other day and it put me in such a bad mood, the sleeves were all weird and it just annoyed me.

Am just looking at this link for a shrug, I forget who suggested it on another thread but there's some lovely things on it, so thanks for that!

I might end up wearing the same dress for the wedding party thng we have next year maybe, that would save me pecking all your heads again in 9 months time eh?

Thanks for all the feeback!

Anyone seen any nice sandals?

bohemianbint · 06/05/2008 18:37

I'm having probs opening those links, TheBlonde!

Just seen these which I think are quite pretty and I would probably wear them for the rest of the summer too...

The dress
And it would look lovely with ballet pumps, you can get some that are really comfy.

TillyScoutsmum · 06/05/2008 19:52

I love the dress (much nicer with than the topshop one) Think the debenhams flip flops will be perfect for a "boho" vibe

You'll look gorgeous

TillyScoutsmum · 06/05/2008 19:54

oh - and worth getting some of the Dove or similar summer moisturiser for your legs - only a slight hint of tan so unlikely to mess it up (exfoliate first and add a thin layer tomorrow,, then Thursday morning) - it'll just take the "glare" off your milk bottles

TillyScoutsmum · 06/05/2008 19:56

like this shrug bargain as well

Heated · 06/05/2008 20:04

The dress is beautiful and perfect for your bohomian wedding. I wouldn't fake tan it but go for the English rose look.

Think your sandals are fab too. Remember to do your toes-nails and exfoliate heels.

On a practical level are you ok with underwear?

jivegirl · 06/05/2008 20:14

Heh heh.. glad you are sorted! The dress is a hit and all the shrugs look gorge - you are going to look fab.

Get the Johnson & Johnson moisturiser that has a teeny amount of fake tan in it (it's in a yellow bottle, Tesco has it on promo at the mo). I've been used it just a few days this week, and actually got my pale and pasty legs out for the first time this eve!

xx

MamaG · 06/05/2008 20:20

ooh love the dress and the silver leaf flip flops! Glad you have chosen that dress, evenm though its a low key wedding, its still your wedding and I think you'll be glad, looking back, that you chose that rather than teh top shop one.

Agree don't bother with fake tan if you can't be bothered.
