I shall pursue... (am leaving job with Posh Freebie Skincare soon, alas, and will be back to having to Spend Own Money ).

"i use one by a funky little Welsh company that's packed with lovely orange oil at the moment."

come on MI, spill, what is this product please?

motherinferior · 05/05/2008 13:09

It's the 'sweet orange cleansing cream' (although it's much oilier than a cream) from akaumuti. I found the company ages ago!

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 13:09

I have Posh Freebie Skincare thanks to DP's job and Best Gay Friend who is head honcho Europe of the world's no 1 luxury skincare company...

BUT I still prefer Sensifluid

anna

Anna8888 · 05/05/2008 13:34

katierocket - yes, well I'm just completely disabused these days... most of it is marketing hot air . Not many products live up to their promises (though I do at least know the ones that do).

That website looks interesting Motherinferior. Have you tried any of the other products? (I'm interested in the shea butter)

I slather the shea butter onto my feet and lips - it is gloriously, exuberantly thick and greasy (you can tell I've been working on a women's mag, can't you ?). I might try the rose oil too...

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 21:21

i really don't think the eve lom is a rip-off, tbh. one tub lasts me 6 months, and it's not £60 it's £48. i interviewed eve once, back in my days of freebie skincare, and she was very genuine imo. plus if you look at the range it's v small in comparison to all the other 'you must buy the serum plus the moisturiser' stuff. i've tried them all, believe me, i used to give creme de la mer away to my mates, but eve lom is something i now pay for.

Tutter · 05/05/2008 21:22

it is very good indeed

but liz eale also fab

have just ordered more of the latter

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 21:25

liz earle is not bad, definitely, but i prefer the vaseliney-ness of the eve lom because i use it before going into the shower and then take it off. liz earle was too liquidy and stung my eyes.

Tutter · 05/05/2008 21:27

ah you poor baby

i agree, eve lom better, moe luxurious, prettier packaging

i buy ms lom when feeling extravagant, liz e the est of thetime

expatinscotland · 05/05/2008 21:29

this eve lom sounds like something that would break out my skin if i even laid eyes on it.

AitchTwoCiao · 05/05/2008 21:30

i'm quite tempted by the M&S one, i'll have a look. they're pretty good at ripping off products. i wish LE was just a leetle bit more like EL, then i'd buy it no problem. i used to know the main pharma-person at LE, she's a jock, and she was BRILLIANT if you needed some advice, she'd just send you the products if you said 'blah blah blah dry skin etc'.

expatinscotland · 05/05/2008 21:37

might try the Ultrabland next time we go into Glasgow.

it's pretty cheap so won't feel bad if it's not so good and can use it on the girls.

twinkletoesbellyrolls · 06/05/2008 14:18

Can I just ask someone who has been using the eve lom - do you really need to follow the instructions about massaging into your face? I seem to have real problems doing them (and the instruction leaflet is now ruined from me doing it in the shower!)

So, really what I am asking is, if you are as lazy as me and just want to spread it on and hot cloth it off will I see any results or should I just go back to those cleansing wipes that are like baby wipes?!?!

Anchovy · 06/05/2008 14:43

I am positively evangelical about the Eve Lom cleanser. Am not averse to spending loads on emperor's new clothes-style facial whatnots and that is one I feel for me that totally justifies the cost time and time again.

I don't bother with all the pressure points massage type stuff: just spread it on, massage it in well in a sort of circular-y type way and then put a hot cloth on and wipe off. If I'm feeling particlarly scrupulous I will do a cold cloth after.

I think you do have to be quite careful about washing the cloths quite often and not using the same manky one day after day...

I had a genuinely qualified medical doctor tell me in front of witnesses that she could not believe I was 43 the other day as I looked years younger (pats dewy Eve Lom skin in a happy manner!)

twinkletoesbellyrolls · 06/05/2008 14:46

Hi Anchovy - thanks so much. will continue with use then and sod the complicated facial work out! I have been using it daily and not sure if I am over doing it. Very new to it and feel like I have joint an exclusive club as it is my most expensive beauty purchase ever (I normally use the super market stuff)

AitchTwoCiao · 06/05/2008 16:00

it says on the destructions that once your skin is good just to do the routine once a week. i kinda do a rough version every time, but just quickly while i'm rubbing it in anyway, a bit of lymphatic drainagey stuff.
