No no no. If they aren't comfy, I don't buy them. If I wear them once or twice and they hurt, I return them / car boot them / give them away. I like having pretty feet, not gnarly, blistered claws.

nappyaddict · 04/05/2008 12:15

yep i do. i had this one pair of shoes that cut my feet to ribbons. 1 year on they are the comfiest shoes i own.

charliecat · 04/05/2008 12:16

no

Lilymaid · 04/05/2008 12:16

I'm wearing a pair of shoes in now - they are work shoes and will be worn without tights during the summer. If I don't wear them in at home I'll end up with blisters at work. As I generally buy the same make I know they will be OK once I have worn them in.

cornsilk · 04/05/2008 12:16

no I bought a pair like this last year and still haven't worn them.My feet are ugly enough.

Tommy · 04/05/2008 12:20

definitely. I bought a pair of Ecco shoes last Autumn and I was desperately hoping they would be super comfortable as they weren't when I first got them - OK but not super comfy.

Now they are

twinsetandpearls · 04/05/2008 12:26

yes i usually regret it though.

LIZS · 04/05/2008 12:31

ditto twinset

I bought some shoes from Asda, I tried them on and they felt fine, I put them on to wear at school and by playtime my feet were cut to shreds, a week and a box of plasters later they are the comfiest shoes I own and I wear them everyday. I do believe you have to 'break them in'

mosschops30 · 04/05/2008 12:36

I buy shoes whether theyre comfy or not. If i like them Im having them. Simple as!
Then i curse and swear as Im staggering home like a transvestite after a nite out

RustyBear · 04/05/2008 12:47

DD is currently hobbling round Woolies in her Sunday job with a massive blister between her toes from 'wearing in' a pair of flip-flops. She intends to carry on wearing them once this blister has healed - she reckons the skin will harden.

Personally I expect my shoes to fit my body, not my body to adapt to my shoes...

Izzywhizzy · 04/05/2008 12:51

Yes, and I have the scars to prove it.

Earlybird · 04/05/2008 12:56

I wear my shoes hard, and walk alot. I rarely (if ever) have a chance to 'break in' uncomfortable shoes.. When I leave the house, am not usually back for quite a while so uncomfortable shoes can quickly become unbearable.

I've got half a dozen pairs of lovely (and expensive) barely worn (uncomfortable) shoes in the closet now.

Yes. Most of my shoes have had to be broken in.

I have a fabbo pair of dark red leather wedges that I'm really struggling with though. They are great, look ace with jeans but they are still far too stiff. They are unbreakable. B*stards

NomDePlume · 04/05/2008 13:00

I find ballet pumps do have to be worn in, even the £££ French Sole ones. Once they have been worn in they are mega comfy.

Some shoe repair shops will gently 'stretch' shoes if they're just a bit too tight. But, I'd be wary of that for summer shoes when feet tend to swell in heat.

I also have a pair of heels that I bought for work but I must've bought them on a fat foot day because they flap about on my feet, so I can't wear them.

I do find the Sole Reviver ones from Next quite comfy, even the high heels. Trouble is that there aren't many attractive pairs in the range.

Yes I bought some sole reviver wedges last week that are comfy.

EBenes · 04/05/2008 13:23

Of course I do. You can't tell in the shop that they're going to hurt after a day's wear. My tip is as soon as they start to hurt start wearing plasters everywhere, don't wait until you get a blister. Keep the plasters on until you stop feeling pressure in the painful areas and the shoes are worn in.
