Heya
I'm trying to look a bit more polished wfh but I want a really quick unfussy routine.
In the Summer I took the plunge and had a lash line enhancement which has been a total game changer and I have a semi regular lash lift.
Other than that it's the usual vit c, moisturiser and spf, mlbb lipstick if I remember.
I want to get a better routine to look more presentable - am mid fifties.
I've been considering a powder foundation for ease as I don't want to be putting on a heavy foundation every day but want a bit of coverage.
I nearly bought the Laura Geller baked foundation but there seems to be loads of conflicting reviews - anyone any ideas?

There are brands that do tinted SPF after moisturiser which could be an easy swap to give a light coverage? I use a 50spf Nivea BB cream which I buy on holiday as it isn’t sold generally in the UK (although you can also buy on Amazon) and only need to use a dab of foundation on my nose and cheeks if I go out.

Cream blusher and ELF No Budge Shadow sticks (which I use with a dusting of translucent loose powder as I think they are a bit too shiny otherwise) and mascara on my top lashes only. I also use Max Factor Lipfinity to give my lips a bit of definition as it stays on really well. I’ve eventually found shade 160 is closest to the colour my lips used to be (😢) so use it in the daytime and darker shades for going out. Takes about 3-5 minutes.

I’m late 50s recently started using the nip fab glycolic primer and just put a Matt sunscreen on top. Honestly it’s amazing, it blurs everything, pores, lines, skin looks even toned and luminous, best thing I’ve used in years.

Doggymummar · 22/12/2024 12:24

Elf halo Glow, mascara and lip gloss are my stay at home makeup

CountTo10 · 22/12/2024 12:40

I'm 59 and bought Laura Geller baked foundation. I also wear Tinny London BFF coverage. Certainly for WFH the Laura Geller is great. It evens out your skin but isn't like a mask. No issues on Teams and you get look 'put together' without wearing a ton of makeup. Out of the house I wear Trinny London as I like a bit more coverage and for evening I brush with the Laura Geller.

I use the Laura Geller blush or Trinny cream blush, Trinny eye liner and mascara. Again if going out of the house Trinny cream eye shadows. I do sometimes use a bit of the powder blush across my eyes if I'm not going to put eyeshadow on just to give a bit of definition.

Whatever I do takes a bout 5 mins and I like to look 'put together'.

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/12/2024 16:46

Fabulous tips here, thanks so much.
I've loads of kiko eyeshadow sticks but the coverage isn't great. I'll look at Elf or just replace them in a cut down number. I've got way too many.

My routine age 44

  1. L'Oréal RED CORRRECT CC
or eborian cc in dore
  1. Lip balm - burts bees pomegranate
  2. Brow pencil - revolution
4 eyeliner - L'Oréal espresso kohl 5 elf mascara lashes extender
  1. Blush Chanel

Groomed and polished but not overly made up and

Bohemond23 · 22/12/2024 17:09

Age 52. I liked the look and ease of the Laura Gellar but it blocked my pores terribly. Every day I use:
No7 Restore and Renew serum foundation or Trinny BFF foundation
Nars liquid blush in Orgasm
Elf eyebrow pencil
Beauty Pie stick eyeshadow (ivory colour)
Beauty Pie eyeliner in khaki
Various lipsticks - usually Trinny or Lancôme high gloss
Takes me less than five minutes.

Blueballinthegarden · 22/12/2024 17:38

I’m not in your age range but my mum is and loves the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser (we both use it). I was recommended the Chanel bronzer on here which is really highly reviewed but ended up getting an Ilia bronzer which is so light to wear and just gorgeous.
Eyebrow thickener/tint is NYX.
Elf lip oil.
Burgundy mascara.
Takes about 5 minutes and makes me feel a lot better about myself!

WeRateSquirrels · 22/12/2024 17:52

53 and use:

Lisa Eldridge skin tint
A bit of neutral cream eyeshadow (Lisa Eldridge or Trinny).
Beauty Pie cream blush
Beauty Pie powder
Any old mascara
Have lots of lovely lipsticks but usually just use Beauty Pie lip oil/gloss which is my favourite lip product ever - very moisturising.

Tried a Laura Gellar foundation years ago but had a terrible reaction to it (I think it contained bismuth oxychloride which is a common allergen).

I swear by Boots City Light Tinted Moisturiser, it makes me look ‘done’ without being heavily made up. Then it’s concealer, mascara and a touch of eyeliner. This is my ‘everyday’ look, whether I’m in the office or WFH

Flopsy145 · 23/12/2024 08:14

I'm just about to invest in the "five minute bundle" from Merit. £188 at the moment and you get a foundation/concealer stick, mascara, blush, lip oil, highlighter, a brush and eyebrow pomade. It's one of the best rated no nasties make up

Seasidewalker · 23/12/2024 08:16

I've just bought the Laura Geller baked starter set and a bronzer for similar reasons (mid 50's), it takes a couple of weeks to arrive. Mine has arrived but I'm now full of cold with a houseful of visitors so I haven't had chance to try it.

Usually if I'm WFH I use Husk & Seed day oil and moisturiser and a bronzer as I'm quite pale. I tend not to have much more make-up on camera.

I'm hopeful for the Laura Geller but the reviews are very mixed, it's clearly a bit marmite...

I will! Apparently their foundation sticks are naturally a bit on the warm side so as I have neutral skin will go cool and that will balance out. Watched a few comparison reviews with Merit and Ilia and they seem pretty even, but I love the idea of a whole bundle.

KnitFastDieWarm · 23/12/2024 10:04

I like a glowy look for everyday wfh, I use:

  1. elf woah glow sunscreen/primer
  2. tinted moisturiser - usually No7 city light or eborian cc cream
  3. bayfree multi glow balm in pink camellia (amazing dupe for jones road and about a quarter of the price)
  4. nivea blackberry shine lip balm (amazing dupe for clinique black honey)
  5. If I can be bothered, i brush my brows into submission and add a bit of benefit tinted lash primer which is a lovely soft brown (I’m pale so black mascara looks odd on me unless I’m wearing full eye makeup)

Takes about 2 mins and makes me feel awake (and look less dead on teams calls)

suki1964 · 23/12/2024 10:06

Laura Geller user here, since Easter, and Im a convert ( 60 now )

I use two of her foundations as Ive rosacea and the balance and brighten doesn't cover it. The double take does, but for me its very full coverage so I just pat that over the red, then go over with the balance and brighten

Balance and Brighten is not a full coverage - medium at most if you dont have any serious problems you want to cover. It really does give an air brush look, rather then obvious foundation

First time I stepped out wearing it a neighbour said you are looking so well, what have you done? And thats what it does, just evens and brightens

You do have to moisturise really well before application and let that sink in to get best results. She recommends the spackle primer which I also use, not sure how much difference it makes

I love it because you really cant feel in on. Its lasts the day on me ( combo skin ) and doesn't split or flake

No tips for you OP that haven't already been posted but I'm intrigued by the lash line enhancement- id love to have it done but the idea of needles in my eyelid is so horrifying- how did you find it?!

Arraminta · 23/12/2024 10:12

Erborian CC Creme in Clair
Bobbi Brown Creme Blush in Light Pink
Hourglass Ambient Powder in Dim Light
Clarins Lip Oil (various shades)
Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara in Black
Laura Mercier Cake Bake Tightliner in Brown

Takes me less than 5 minutes. Job done.

If you're nervous of needles near your eyes you can get exactly the same effect by tightlining your upper eyelashes using a fine brush. It makes a huge difference.

EveryDayisFriday · 23/12/2024 10:18

I also use Laura Geller. I have oily skin so powder foundation works well for me.

My no make up look for wfh, takes a few mins. I have a lash lift every 7 weeks so don't need a lot of mascara.

Maybelline eraser concealer for under eyes and spots
LG baked powder foundation with kabuki brush.
LG blusher
W7 lip liner in champagne
Maybelline vinyl lip ink in Awestruck
Maybelline ultra slim Eye brow pencil in dark brown
No7 define and enhance mascara

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 23/12/2024 10:20

Trinny London BFF spf 30 or studio 10 hydra peptide spf30 (or even mix a bit of both) then a bit of jones Road miracle balm (I like pinky bronze) I put some on my temples, cheekbones and a dab on the middle of my nose. I look like me, I don't look made up, but just a bit more glowy. If I need a bit more coverage I use a small amount of studio 10 skin repair perfect canvas but I'm not completely sold on this and I just ordered Laura Geller to try instead. It woks fine it's just that the pallet has two colours you can mix but I feel like there will be a lot of wastage with the paler colour. Probably good for people who tan a bit in summer so you can adjust the colour to suit. I just apply with a brush and use hardly any.

My mum uses the Laura baked foundation, she's late 50s, I highly recommend it (as would she)

Festivalmitch · 23/12/2024 11:33

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and the Amethyst eye shadow stick are my go to everyday products. I use their bronzer too but not everday

Thursdaygirl · 23/12/2024 11:51

I have extremely dark under eye circles, and that’s always my challenge - I need to use concealer, which can be time consuming, before facing anyone in the morning.

Thesonofaphesantplucker · 23/12/2024 11:56

I bought the Laura Geller starter kit in August. I’ve used it almost every day since then. I’m 38, but like a poster above I have oily skin so I love a powder foundation.

I think it’s stunning. And I regularly get complaints on my make up now.

i leave it in the car and do my make up at school drop off. It’s absolutely fool proof.
