Fuss free morning makeup WFH

Heya
I'm trying to look a bit more polished wfh but I want a really quick unfussy routine.
In the Summer I took the plunge and had a lash line enhancement which has been a total game changer and I have a semi regular lash lift.
Other than that it's the usual vit c, moisturiser and spf, mlbb lipstick if I remember.
I want to get a better routine to look more presentable - am mid fifties.
I've been considering a powder foundation for ease as I don't want to be putting on a heavy foundation every day but want a bit of coverage.
I nearly bought the Laura Geller baked foundation but there seems to be loads of conflicting reviews - anyone any ideas?

I've got it down to:

Once a twice a week - any cheap hyaluronic acid.

Every day - any moisturiser for mature skin with spf 30+. I chop and change depending what's on offer. Can't believe I used to spaff hundreds on Clarins in my youth! But, might be why I have good skin now, in my 60s.

Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. Not the game-changer I'd expected, but it looks natural and makes me feel 'done'. More fancy - Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I was going to chuck it as I found it very thick and drying, but experimented with mixing in a drop of above-mentioned cheap hyaluronic acid - bingo! Smooth, glowy, going-out skin.

Eyebrows - RMS Back2Brow powder and brush. Much hyped, but an ordinary brown powder as far as I can tell. The dense brush is good though. So I tried brushing my brows with clear mascara, then applying the powder... colour deepens and brows last all day!

Blush - Kiko Velvet Touch. On the advice of the assistant I got a really neutral one, which is lovely but I could do with something a bit stronger.

Eye crayons. Used to love Bobbi Brown but my last one lasted about a month, they seem to have reduced the amount of crayon to half an inch! Now use Kiko - (looks fine, good price and range of shades, not particularly long lasting), MAC or Nars... anything I can smudge. Sometimes augmented with a brown eye pencil at the lashline.
Intrigued by your lash line enhancement, GrimDamn. Does it look natural, and does it need topping up (or it looks funny)? My friend had her eyebrows tattooed and they go bluey-grey if she doesn't get them 'refreshed'...

Burts Bees tinted lip balm for swiping on without a mirror during the day. MAC Powder Kiss Liquid Lip Colour for indelible matte colour, softened with lip balm if necessary.

Final tip - strong bathroom lighting!

i use the Aldi green colour correct cream which is brilliant for me and Beauty Pie under eye cream, also very good. I have a lash lift and tint and had my lips tattooed so use lip balm.If i go out i add some colour with Elf eyeshadow stick and bronzer. I also have the Laura Geller naked foundation which does help brighten if i use it

@T@Thesonofaphesantplucker

I think you meant to put compliments not complaints!!!!

StarCourt · 23/12/2024 12:48

Baked not naked!

Thesonofaphesantplucker · 23/12/2024 13:04

@Deathraystare haha you are indeed correct! I’m sure I generate my fair share of complaints too! 🤣

ThereTheyGo · 23/12/2024 13:13

Another vote for Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. Just enough to lift the skin but still look natural.

Cheesymonster · 23/12/2024 15:30

I use Mac Studio fix powder foundation but you are all convincing me to try Laura geller.

I am 49. I also use kylie Jenner blush in winter kiss (a very cool pink), elf brow lamination gel, no 7 eye crayon in cool mink, touché eclat pen and any old mascara but I prefer brown not black.

Seasidewalker · 23/12/2024 15:40

I've tried my laura geller for the first time this morning, my skin isn't at it's best because of the cold I've got but I think I like it. It has created a glow without sitting in the lines or looking caked as some of my foundation does. My skin is quite dry.

It's the balance and brighten powder foundation and the bronze and brighten bronzer. I've tried the blusher and the highlighter in the starter pack as well

So far so good. I did put some ELF primer on first.

JMAngel1 · 23/12/2024 16:24

The Laura Gellar baked foundation makes me green! Avoid.

Chillilounger · 23/12/2024 18:11

Don't wear a powder foundation if you're in your 50's, they are really aging ( made that mistake!). I go with a primer, IL makiage anti age cream foundation, and a bit of mascara and lippy. I have my brows dyed which makes a massive difference and just put a bit of clear gel on them to keep them neat.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 23/12/2024 18:19

If I don't want anything mid/fuller coverage on my skin I use the Charlotte Tilbury Invisible UV Flawless Poreless Primer (revlon photo ready prime plus is a cheap alternative).

It improves the look of my skin whilst leaving it still looking like my skin

I’m in my 50s and need a touch of eyeliner to look vaguely alive?

mdinbc · 23/12/2024 19:27

I mix a dab of tinted moisturizer with my daily face cream for even a lighter coverage, then touch up under eyes with concealer. A Sephora cream eye pencil in a cool brownish grey, some L'Oreal mascara, and creamy sheer lip and I'm done. Takes just a few minutes.

I also have the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter which is really nice, also I mix a bit in with my moisturizer. It gives a glow without too much, IFKWIM

LoafofSellotape · 23/12/2024 22:14

Max Factor Facefinity compact is good, quick swirl with a buffer brush and Bob's your Uncle.

Not all of them are, some are really subtle.

For a very quick morning routine for being on camera I do skincare then a sticky primer, Charlotte tilbury flawless filter, concealer, and blush and brow gel. I wear lash extensions or I would also do mascara.
Botox is the best part of my quick morning routine though

notnorman · 23/12/2024 22:46

I wear Laura Geller and many people comment on how 'well' I look (48)

TianasBayou · 23/12/2024 22:55

If you are using MS Teams, apply the soft focus filter and brightness settings.

Together with a flattering colour top, and flattering camera angle and lighting, that's the job done.

So it makes you look green so everyone else needs to avoid? What a daft post.

Im in my 60's, I wear a powder foundation, as do many on this thread, and we get complimented on our looks - looking well, fresh etc

Kind of puts paid to that myth

RosyappleA · 24/12/2024 00:00

I recently bought the Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint and my mum loves it too. I know you mentioned powder but with this tint there is hardly any blending it just melts away and is flattering for pores. I don’t need moisturiser under it as the ingredients are quite skin friendly and hydrating I find.

Thursdaygirl · 24/12/2024 08:15

I am in my 50s and need either loose powder or powder foundation, I still have quite oily skin

OopsieeDaisy · 24/12/2024 14:12

I’m in my 30s but I use the Garnier BB cream with a bit of translucent pressed powder applied over the top as I have oily skin. I find this gives a good level of coverage - so much so, that I’ve replaced my foundation all together with the BB cream and just apply a bit more if I’m going out. I use a tinted brow gel and pink lip balm and that’s it if I’m just WFH, otherwise I’ll add mascara and blush/bronzer.

I'm just about to invest in the "five minute bundle" from Merit. £188 at the moment and you get a foundation/concealer stick, mascara, blush, lip oil, highlighter, a brush and eyebrow pomade. It's one of the best rated no nasties make up

I use Merit products and really love them. The Minimalist (foundation stick) blends beautifully and you only need to put it where you want to cover any redness so it’s very quick to apply.
I’ve also just discovered Refy - liking their Lip Blush sticks which are a very moisturising but matt tinted balm.
And agree with the advice on using the soft focus option on Teams!
