Going into town this afternoon, will have a toddler and about two hours to find a top for two nights out, blouse type thing probably, any ideas?

I'd quite like a blouse or similar, needs to skim over my tummy and not be TOO fitted but have some shape to it. I've looked on topshop aqnd warehouse websites but nothing jumping out at me. Anyone seen any nice ones? I'm going for a meal tonight then out for drinks next weekend so it will be worn with skinny jeans and not sure about the shoes. What to wear on my feet this time of year? I wear ballet pumps in the day and have one pair of low ish patent black heels(I'm tall)but they are probably too eveningy for the meal. Sorry I've gone off subject but any ideas for either gratefully recieved! I'm (big)size 12 and around 5.9 I think, long ish dark hair, dark eyes, suit strong colours especially greens.

Have you left yet?

white blouse on sale

fairly neutral

too fitted?

quite pretty

white and good for tummy

red and pretty

this would be fab!

B ascially I seem to saying Debenhams is worth looking at.

I'd go with strappy sandals and a bit of a heel or wedge.

S1ur · 01/05/2008 14:09

misread OP. sorry

green ruffle shirt

S1ur · 01/05/2008 14:13

red or aqua from oasis.

Going to stop now because its too late and you're already shopping!

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 07:55

Thanks Slur, yes sorry I had already left but I didn't find anything so am still looking. I like the oasis one especially. Only problem is, I'm not sure I can do belts, having tried on some yesterday with them it seems my waist is in a funny place so that they sit too high up. Actually a lot that I saw seem too short for me so it could be because of my height. So maybe I need less fitted and longer? I don't know! I will take myself off somewhere else to shop next week maybe as our city centre seems very poor atm and will definately head to debenhams first as you found lots and looking around my local one I saw none of those ones! Any other ideas welcome.

used2bethin I have the same problem. You need to check out the TALL sections of shops. All blouses are too short for me.

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 09:43

Thanks JennsterSlugSlayer, I have looked in Topshop tall section, what other shops do tall sections? Am thinking I may have to give up on the blouse idea and find a going out top of some other kind. I like the tops in warehouse but they had nothing suitable this time, I wonder whether they will get more stuff in by next week.

this is very flattering for tummy skimming

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 12:14

Thanks that is gorgeous but possibly a bit too formal for the bars we'll be in. Am tempted to try it on anyway though!Wish I could do links so I could say the sort of thing I'm thinking of.

TillyScoutsmum · 02/05/2008 12:21

just copy the link and paste it putting and either side of it

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 12:24

I am really bad though I don't even know how to copy a link!

Love the red Debs ones! (hmm must go shopping).

TillyScoutsmum · 02/05/2008 12:26

any good

How about strappy sandals (lowish) for feet

like these

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 12:30

The top is gorgeous Tillyscout, hadn't seen that one. Do you think it'd be ok with my rather pathetic 36bs though? Also am looking a bit pasty so colour would be good. Did you see the white peasant top on the oasis site? I think thats the kind of shape MAYBE but more glam.

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 02/05/2008 12:35

Yes - I like the peasant top

is that one too flowery ?

i think this would be flattering as well

Will look for more colour though - just need to get dd from her nap

TillyScoutsmum · 02/05/2008 12:37

i love this but appreciate it may be an acquire taste

used2bthin · 02/05/2008 12:40

Ah the monsoon one I actually took to the que for the change rooms yesterday, they also have it in bright red. But DD was getting fed up so I didn't try it. I think I need to get someone to have her next week while I go and try stuff. I thought it might be flattering too, I am pear shaped(I think)so I thought it might balance me out a bit. Would it be ok with skinny jeans do we think?

DD awake so will have to go for now but thanks for helping me look!
